Local pizza shop. owner abuses his staff in their own language which I happen to understand and speak. But he does it in such a creepy way. He uses a tone that sounds to a non-speaker quite conversational and unassuming but he is saying the most hideous things to them.

WinterFirTree · 14/11/2021 20:21

I also boycott my former workplace because my line manager was openly and repeatedly racist towards me and undermined AND stole from me and senior management knew it was happening but just said 'you know what she is like'.

Funny thing is that when I joined DH and I had planned to invest in the firm and since I left a few years back we have also done quite alot of business which we would have used them for so they have literally lost out on tens and tens of thousands worth of business.

Bearnecessity · 14/11/2021 20:47

@RabitWhole

Not me but my mother has boycotted France (the entire country) because she had food poisoning from a dodgy mussel in St Malo in 1969!
Love this.....😂

Orange (and future incarnations) - told my PILs specifically that their mobile network covered Denmark and their phones would work. They were going on their first holiday in years, as their son had been really ill. The phones didn't get any coverage and we couldn't contact them. It took four hours of a frantic tour guide running round the city to try and tell them their son (my DH) was in ITU. He died before they made it back. I'll never forget the look on my MIL's face when we had to tell her.

Franticbutterfly · 14/11/2021 20:59

HSBC, the worst customer service in the history of the world.

TurquoiseDragon · 14/11/2021 21:18

@NineCmNails

My parents have a long standing boycott of Maxwell House coffee since the early 80s. Something to do with an on pack promotion they failed to honour.

Argos is on its last warning after live chat lied to me about where my order was and 2nd operator said that "available from" doesn't actually mean the goods will arrive then.

Argos are on my list from this summer. I have an under counter fridge and it died. I needed a new one quickly, being summer and hot, and the best one for me was on the Argos website. Ordered it online, and at that point there was a date two days later. Next day, I wondered why we'd not been contacted for a time slot. Got in touch via the live chat, to find that the delivery date was changed to 14 days later, without being told. I cancelled the order, they didn't seem to understand that I couldn't just wait 14 days.

Got a better deal from a local independent who delivered next day.

JetBlackSteed · 14/11/2021 21:27

A local bmw dealership who charged me for two new catalytic converters on a car that only had one. I was actually bullied into paying when I thought I was right, and then had to fight for a refund.

Also, a local indie boutique who sell / sold men's wallets made from shark skin.

Both around 20 years ago, so I'm good with grudges.

towers14 · 14/11/2021 21:41

Vodafone long boring story as to why.
Local off license for putting cones on the road to prevent parking, just really annoys me.
Tesco for featuring the Covid pass on their Xmas advert.

scorpio32 · 15/11/2021 08:44

*I took them to the small claims court and got over £50.01 from them (I billed them £30 for the time wasted claiming and £20 compensation, plus the 1p)

You did this to Argos Scorpio? You absolute star !*

They didn't even contest it, I just got a cheque sent to me

evtheria · 15/11/2021 09:47

@DivingBoardInGuernsey Astoundingly awful, I’m so so sorry for you and your late DH’s parents.

Ringsender2 · 17/11/2021 19:05

My family blacklist is my DS, who broke a beautiful agate bowl of mine after being told not to wave his (very MC cloth and stuffing) toy sword around. He's 18 now, about 3 when it happened. I'm still salty.

Same DS. Ate my leftover sushi that I was planning to have for next day's lunch. I was fumming for days about that. Just about over it now Grin

goingback · 19/11/2021 23:47

tkmaxx for attempting to refuse a refund, had bought Calvin Klein underwear and the till person ripped them taking the tag off. told me to go to the end till for returns then the manager refused as "we don't return underwear " and kept repeating this. I phoned their head office to complain while in the store and refused to leave until i had my refund -been 7 years now

SchadenfreudePersonified · 22/11/2021 13:30

I would like to add any scented sanitary pads. Vile branding, trying to make women feel like they smell bad when the awful waft from their products is nauseating.

And they make your fanjo itch like buggery!

Gemma77 · 04/12/2021 12:40

Ryan air - cost to change flights is more expensive that the actual flightsAngry

Gemma77 · 04/12/2021 12:43

Virgin because it took them 8 months to refund £9k when we could go to Florida due to covid restrictions.

Curry's - dishwasher broken from day one and took 4 weeks to get a replacement

Ryanair.... worth mentioning twice!

luckylavender · 04/12/2021 13:27

Lloyds Chemist. Because around 20 years ago, DH, DS and I came down with something, in that order and DS was prescribed antibiotics. He was about 5. I was feeling really rough when I picked them up and just didn't understand how to give him powder. They hadn't mixed it. And when I was better and complained to the branch then to HO, no one gave a shit.

AliceMck · 04/12/2021 14:01

Booths, they intimidated bullied and harassed my DF to the point of a mental breakdown when he worked for them.

Greggs, I refuse to line the pockets of a pedophile.

My DH refuses to use Costa after a dodgy toastie gave him food poisoning. It kicked in as he was driving along the motorway 🤢😷💩😭

notacooldad · 04/12/2021 14:08

Greggs, I refuse to line the pockets of a pedophile
😮
I dont know anything about this. I use Gregg's a lot.

IWanderedLonely · 04/12/2021 14:13

Nestles and of the million other brands owned by Nestles. (And anyone pronouncing it Nestlay can fuck off too)

H1Drangea · 04/12/2021 15:07

Body shop &
Lush ( for the same reasons as everyone else )
Laura Ashley ( worked there as a sales assistant. They treated staff like dirt )
America ( for the guns and the fact that they elected Donald Trump )

Janedownourlane · 04/12/2021 15:58

Cotswold Furniture after a nest of tables arrived totally broken. We arranged to have the replacements double checked before they were sent out...they arrived even more smashed up than the original ones.

AliceMck · 04/12/2021 16:39

@notacooldad

Look up Colin Gregg, son of the founder. He apparently had nothing to do with the actual business now but still profits from it.
MrsClatterbuck · 04/12/2021 19:23

@WumbenWimpundWoomud

Warburtons after their awful sexist advert. They put out their justification but just no.

Santander - absolutely wankers, will never trust them with a penny of my money.

A local solicitors who, because I was completely naive to buying a house and questioned what paperwork they needed from me and why, accused me of money laundering. Then when I cut ties with them, sent me a snarky letter, which had attached the banking and other private details of another client of theirs. Proved me right not to go with them.

Re local solicitors. Wondering how recent as with GDPR they would be shifting a brick
MrsClatterbuck · 04/12/2021 19:26

@Tallesttiptoes

Also a local garden centre who mis-sold me a buddleia 🤣
Bet you have lots of little buddleia
