@Cornishmumofone I’m in awe of you- what an amazing commitment to get up every Saturday and run that many times! Enjoy every minute if you are feeling up to it after your booster.

I’m going to my local one today. My lovely brother will running with me so really looking forward to it. No rain here either so should be beautiful round the lake.

Enjoy all xx

Cornishmumofone · 11/12/2021 08:09

Thank you all. It's taken me 11 years to get this far, but parkrun has changed my life.

@Peckhampalace I love barcode scanning too. It's nice to learn the names of people that I see every week (I'm terrible at remembering names).

Allisonsmith · 11/12/2021 10:29

Hi. You should always think about finding someone to run with. It is a great way to catch up on both mums and well needed exercise.🏃‍♀️

Guardup · 11/12/2021 10:42

Hope you all enjoyed your Park-runs if you went today. I’d love to know how you got on.

Mine was a really fast one today (as in everyone there seemed to be fast runners). I was slap bang in the middle the whole time being over taken and was amazed to see a PB of 28.11 when I finished.

I can’t quite believe it. My first park run was somewhere around 37 minutes.

I’ve been running since September. I signed up for a cancer support run. 2km every day for a month. I was a complete non runner and not particularly fit. Once that finished I was bitten by the bug and started Park Runs with runs in between in the week. I’ve lost about 3 inches from my bust, waist and hips. Every run is a huge achievement and makes me feel wonderful.

If you are thinking about doing it I can’t recommend it enough. It has literally changed my life.

Xx

I walked the course with a friend today which was really nice. Planning fo be back to a gentle jog at points next week!

Lovely crisp bright winter morning Smile

CalmConfident · 11/12/2021 10:57

That is great @Guardup!

Parkrun is truly a wonderful thing

shakingmytambourineatyou · 11/12/2021 11:00

I was slow today. Or even slower, I should say. Really enjoyed it though. Sun was beautiful as I set off and I was glad I got up to go. Well done all x

Another PB today - I’m really happy. My 17th ever 5k and I did it in 29.37, knocked 20 seconds off my PB. In July I’d never ever run, let alone 5k. Today a lovely fellow runner saw me slowing down to walk near the end and he said “cone on, keep going, I’ll run with you to the end.”

Stylinson · 11/12/2021 15:33

@Guardup - that is really fast!! Well done

fakereview · 11/12/2021 15:46

I ran at a parkrun I hadn't done for three years today. It has a massive hill in the middle of it, which was as hideous as I remember, but great to run somewhere different.

AuntieStella · 11/12/2021 15:54

I did my usual parkrun today, in an unexceptional but slightly disappointing time.

Lovely chats with people afterwards though!!

CalmConfident · 17/12/2021 22:01

Evening folks! Any parkrun plans for the morning ?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 17/12/2021 22:50

Evening! I'm touring tomorrow, just been checking my route and debating how early to leave.

CalmConfident · 18/12/2021 11:18

A bit of local tourism….lovely quiet run in the woods, less than 100 runners. Lovely ☺️

balanceo · 18/12/2021 11:23

Park shuffle in my case, 41.48s; but no.185 completed.

Ifitistobesaid · 18/12/2021 11:41

I did it this morning, it was much quieter than usual. Definitely one of the slowest there today.

AuntieStella · 18/12/2021 11:47

My original plans for the weekend have all been changed, so the planned tourism didn't happen, so I did some local tourism to an event I'd not done before.

My legs were quite tired (exertions during the week) so it was interesting to see whether legs or lungs protested first on the big hill! Also rather quieter than my home event - just over 100

MirandaWest · 18/12/2021 17:04

I ran at my home one and DD was a time keeper. I decided to put more effort in and was rewarded with my fastest parkrun of the year (not doing one on Christmas Day). It’s also been the year I’ve done most parkruns - 16 which given it only started back on 24th July is pretty good Smile

Maybe next year I’ll break 30 minutes again (was 31:21 today) and will hopefully get to 50 parkruns. DD up to 16 volunteers so hoping to get to her 25 volunteers Smile

shakingmytambourineatyou · 18/12/2021 17:51

Our local is doing one on Christmas morning. I doubt I will be there but am volunteering on New year's Day so that will be a good start. Can't wait for the warmer and brighter mornings. All good intentions here... Smile

As in, good intentions to get fitter and faster in the new year. In case that wasn't clear!

AuntieStella · 18/12/2021 17:54

I'm going to be a Christmas Tail!!

(Assuming the rest of the roster fills up enough for the event to go ahead)

CalmConfident · 24/12/2021 21:43

Anyone at parkrun in the morning? I am doing 1st timer briefing and then jogging round hopefully with a few friends and maybe even one of the DC

shakingmytinselatyule · 24/12/2021 22:30

Not going tomorrow. I did consider but just not practical. Bet it's fun though. I will be volunteering on NYD

Splodgerbodgerbadger · 24/12/2021 22:31

My local one isn’t on so not going. I did my 50th last week so I’m going to volunteer for the next few.

kungfupannda · 25/12/2021 07:52

We’re all going here. DS1 is meeting a friend from junior Parkrun to run round together. DP and DS2 are going to run it properly and I’m loping round with DS3 as I’ve had a bad cold and not 100% yet. There may or may not be Santa hats involved…
