Please inspire me as I always think of a reason not to go .

Me and DH are going this morning! Kids are young adults so will get up and walk the dog while we're out then we'll come back for showers, pressies and food 🎄🥳

We had about 150 people at our Christmas Day parkrun - I had a completely rubbish last lap so no PB for me this week! Was really nice to get out in the fresh air before a day of eating! I’ll definitely go on New Years Day as well I think (I don’t even recognise myself!!! This time last year i would never have believed I’d run)

CalmConfident · 26/12/2021 17:19

Our Christmas Day parkrun was hectic, nearly 500 people !!! Think we were the only local one so got a fair few visitors from the other relatively local events.

Junior parkrun today was quiet, but still lots of fun. A bit grey and drizzly.

Feeling really positive about running though, roll on 2022 Smile

shakingmytinselatyule · 26/12/2021 22:58

Roll on might be apt. If I eat much more they might have to actually roll me through the course

Headstand · 26/12/2021 23:08

I wish our local one had been on for Christmas day, I love Parkrun. Hoping to drag the people we're staying with at new year out to their local next week! New Year resolution is to volunteer more.

reallyneedmoresleep · 31/12/2021 08:57

Thought I might parkrun tomorrow to shift the hangover but it’s on at 9 am. I thought it might be later because of NYE . Will put out my kit and see how it goes

CalmConfident · 31/12/2021 09:37

Touring tomorrow as away for NYE…hoping to drag kids and friends with me. No excuses now we can use barcode on phone so getting a physical print not a barrier !

shakingmytambourineatyou · 31/12/2021 10:08

I try to volunteer every time I've run 4 parkruns. I know you don't have to, but sometimes they struggle to fill the roles at my local one, so I think it's fair. Especially as my intention is to go a lot from now on. Smile. There's no way I could run on nyd so I am volunteering. At least it will make me get up and go out. Hope you all enjoy yours. Good start to the new year x

I'll be running on NYD, looking forward to it!🏃🏼‍♂️

AuntieStella · 31/12/2021 11:49

My home parkrun isn't happening tomorrow, so I'm planning a spot of local tourism

I'll miss doing the double!!

Our run director says that, with our numbers (typical numbers attending and number of volunteers needed), then if every parkrunner volunteered three times a year, they would never struggle to fill the rota!

Usually, I volunteer once a month, usually as tailwalker or barcode scanner

Donatella · 31/12/2021 12:51

I'm planning on running tomorrow, first time for over a month and I've probably put on over a stone in that time so not sure I'll make it round, but I'll give it a go!

Donatella · 31/12/2021 12:54

Actually, scrap that, it's not on tomorrow 😢 I'll need to find another way to restart my fitness plans for the New Year

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 31/12/2021 13:44

Oh I used to love an NYD double!

I'm hoping to run tomorrow.

The plan for 2022 is to volunteer once a month, do some tourism once a month, and run at my home parkrun the rest of the time.

shakingmytambourineatyou · 31/12/2021 14:53

Oh that's a shame donatella. Good try, thoughGrin

I've arranged to run a different parkrun with a friend. Might not run the whole thing but we'll get around and enjoy it!

MirandaWest · 31/12/2021 17:46

I’ll be at my second nearest parkrun - DD is volunteering so have to go to take her and so may as well run. Although as it’s a different one she wants to get there extra early….

After yesterday’s run where I overheated in a T-shirt think it will be a vest top and a skort tomorrow Grin

And it will be my fastest time of 2022 GrinGrinGrin

AuntieStella · 31/12/2021 18:16

Very serious runner if you're in a vest at this time of year!!!

Booksandwine80 · 31/12/2021 18:26

I really want to start again but can only walk it at the moment…..people keep telling me that’s ok but I was shamed by a child a few years back for “running so slowly”Blush

Our slowest come in at between an hour and an hour and ten minutes. Do it. You'll never be last as there's always a tail walker.

I'm marshaling tomorrow. Was going to run it with friends who are visiting, but they were short of volunteers.

BogRollBOGOF · 31/12/2021 18:53

Hoping on a second clear lateral flow in the morning...

If so, I'll go to the quieter local one. It's hillier but that would put me off going gung-ho on pace and over-doing it.

Cornishmumofone · 31/12/2021 22:05

I'm visiting a relatively new parkrun tomorrow that's near to my mum's house and I'll be writing the run report. I'm really looking forward to it!

JeremiahObadiahJackanoryJonez · 01/01/2022 11:43

Oooh I wonder if that’s our local one - is it a 3x there and back with a big hill?

We haven’t been for a few weeks due various reasons including 2 weeks of Covid house! I know we can go out if negative LFTs but my bed was too warm and cosy this morning. Next week Grin

MirandaWest · 01/01/2022 18:47

DD and I were there - have done my 44th one now. Went for a t shirt in the end but glad I had a skort on and not leggings. The parkrun we were at is a lot busier than our most local one - I was 465th and I wasn’t that bad Grin

Cornishmumofone · 01/01/2022 21:15

@JeremiahObadiahJackanoryJonez Yes, that's the one! I really enjoyed it and will be back again later this year.
