Please inspire me as I always think of a reason not to go .

Thank-you to everyone who volunteers. It is appreciated

I’m going to go, I think. I’m not feeling particularly enthusiastic about running these days but I know I’ll be pleased I’ve done it.

I'm volunteering at my parkrun this morning, being a marshal today. My favourite volunteer role is finish tokens, everyone is so pleased to see you!! We try and run it once a month and volunteer once a month, Saturday is my long run day so I don't go every week as I want to run further

I love parkrun. Nearly at 100 runs here, unfortunately can’t go today but back again next week to volunteer.

Barcode scanning is actually easier on the phones as you can see if it’s scanned or not.
It also won’t let you scan them in the wrong order.

Top tips, the wrist bands are a pain to scan so ask the runner to pull the band tight as this helps.

If you have scanned the barcode but then the finish tokens won’t scan. Write it manually and then you can just go straight onto the next person.

It does make the results processing easier and quicker I just hate that parkrun are forcing everyone to use phones and they have used covid as an excuse to push this out.

It’s discriminatory to those who don’t have a phone or indeed a smart phone. And the age old questions who is responsible if your phone gets damaged whilst using for this? For example if someone bumps into you or it gets water damage from the rain

Also up and about to get dressed but regretting my choice of breakfast - feeling a bit too full to run 😕 hopefully another half an hour to digest it will help.

Just got back and sat down with a cup of tea.

A very local tourist visit this morning, but only the 2nd time I’ve done this lovely country park venue. Bumped into an old colleague celebrating his 50th run so that was a nice surprise 😁

There were way more hills than my home run but it was a gorgeous Autumn morning in the forest and really enjoyed it.

Hope everyone had a great parkrun whether you ran or volunteered.

Junior parkrun volunteering for me tomorrow

@Donatella how did you do? I never have breakfast first. There's no way I'd make it round with food in my stomach Grin

Did it! Spur of the moment, opened my eyes at 8.15am, thought about how annoyed with myself I'd be if wasted a rare Saturday morning when I didn't have a wine head from the night before, and was in the car at 8.35

Second best time this year too, although I've still got a way to go to get back to my PB days!

Yay! Well done. It's so easy to turn over and stay in bed but it feels so good if you get up and do it.

Did it! And I was just 15 seconds off my PB this week. I’ve been 2 - 3 minutes over it for the last few weeks and was feeling a bit demoralised about my times but am feeling but more positive now.

Mum and I did it!

We were 166th out of 171 runners. So proud of my mum. She hated every second.

I did it. Really enjoyed it but was trying to get under 24 minutes and only managed 24:12 so that was a bit annoying, but it was a bit muddy so that slowed me slightly. Good run though and hopefully I’ll get under 24 soon.

I had an unexceptional run. The run I visited had a really friendly feel, and very enthusiastic volunteers !

Surprisingly well, although annoyingly their timing says I was 5s slower than my PB when my watch says I got a 35s PB 🤷‍♀️ But the 1st km was the fastest km I have ever run which felt amazing!

I did my 14th park run, started when it resumed after lockdown having never run before and I,m addicted! Still can’t run the whole thing without having a few little walks. PB is 30.13. I’m hoping to get below 30 minutes before Christmas if I can. It takes my legs about 4 days to recover so I’m only just ready for the next one!

Run #2 after 2 weeks volunteering and a new PB Grin. Decided I’m going to do alternate weeks running/volunteering.

@Guardup well done to you and your Mum - I go with my friend who has been tail both weeks I’ve run so I’ve finished second to last both times. I feel it’s my default setting! There was a little boy in front of me with his Mum worried about being last - we reassured him that as tail we HAVE to be last so he won’t be last until he’s old enough to volunteer!

Surprisingly well, although annoyingly their timing says I was 5s slower than my PB when my watch says I got a 35s PB

a) it's gun time, which can in itself account for the difference
b) it's terribly easy for there to be confusion with number of clicks v number of finish tokens, and that can lead to all, sorts of inaccuracies
c) it's a run not a race, and accuracy of timing isn't a priority for the events - it'll always be rough and ready

OK, it's nice to have PB on your results, but if you're actually training and wanting/needing to have a close eye on performance, then of course you go by your own timing.

Well done on your PB!!

Thanks. I know there's always a discrepancy - usually about 10s or so though, not as much as today. My watch also says I ran about 100m further than normal as well which is odd (the course is just over 5k, normally my watch says 5.15, today was 5.25). It was a 5k PB for me though for sure (for just the first 5k, not including the extra they make us run!). I definitely done treat it as a race (this week I was 187 out of 203!) but I am very motivated by self improvement so always push myself to get a PB. Still happy with my run, just find the results a bit confusing.

So….are we all ready for tomorrow?

I am planning a bit of local tourism

I've just lad my stuff out. I'm touring tomorrow - visiting a friend for the weekend and stopping off at a parkrun on the way - so it will be an early start!

Yep I'm going. About to get my stuff together before bed. It's an anniversary/birthday celebration at my local one this week so should be busy, some talk of fancy dress but that's not really my thing.
