Have you tried slicing them up as then freezing them in a tub and then blending them? Totally changed the texture ☺️

FluffyBooBoo · 05/11/2021 08:54

I can't eat raw bananas, but cooked for some reason doesn't have the same reaction.

Maybe try that - or the numerous other potassium rich foods.

Floogal · 05/11/2021 09:06

I hate over ripe bananas. Makes me retch. Still can't get over the black banana scene on Mall Cop 2 🤢🤢🤢

Only the once then I find it's too squishy to do it again.

Get a supplement!

CeratopsofthePharoahs · 05/11/2021 09:10

Sorry but I hate bananas.
I think it comes from years of packed lunches at school. My mum would always put in half a banana and once my lunchbox had sat in a warm cupboard all morning - everything tasted of stale banana.
I can stomach them cooked, but not raw. DH is the opposite.

stingofthebutterfly · 05/11/2021 09:12

I don't like them once they have the slightest hint of brown but when they get to that stage I chop them up and freeze them before eating them. Absolute game changer.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 05/11/2021 09:15

I buy them only when Gdcs are going to visit. If any are left I slice them and sprinkle with plenty of lemon juice. Just too sweet otherwise.,
Or make bananas flambees - with plenty of lemon juice in the sauce.

TeeTotaller1 · 05/11/2021 09:17

Oh they are the food of the Devil
Hate the fuckers

fumfspos · 05/11/2021 09:22

Just to add, I still shudder 45 years later at the memory of some banana-flavoured penicillin I had to take as a toddler when I had ear-ache

I think that's why I absolutely cannot stand bananas. They are the only food that I absolutely can't eat. As soon as I see one I feel sick and if I accidentally eat something that has banana in it I start retching.

And I've never forced a banana into me anywhere else either.

Chocaholic9 · 05/11/2021 09:26

I love bananas but they are high in sugar. I try to limit myself to one half of a small banana each day.

NoNotHimTheOtherOne · 05/11/2021 09:33

I need the potassium .

Why?

Unless your kidneys don't work, or you have chronic diarrhoea/vomiting, or you have diabetes or primary hyperaldosteronism (Conn's syndrome), or you're taking medications that cause you to excrete too much potassium, it's pretty difficult to be deficient in it.

BoredZelda · 05/11/2021 09:37

Oh ha ha, will this end up in classics Hmm

Interesting! I've been diabetic since Feb (probably longer) and my bloods showed low potassium. I didn't realise there was a link.

GP told me to eat a banana every day but I can't cos of the spiders. I just have avocado instead.

@ArblemarchTFruitbat

My last place of work had a No Banana policy.

Ooh, do you know if they have any current vacancies Grin.

Nothing worse than the reek of a banana some dolt has left to fester in their drawer for days in an over-heated office.

Oh, yes there is. There is the the smell of the now almost completely liquid banana someone has left in their desk for weeks/months and forgotten about until the person whose desk backs on to them asks what the smell is and also, where is this liquid coming from? EnvyEnvy not envy

Bananas are awful. I hate the smell, the taste, the texture. I've managed to not die or become malnourished from not eating them yet.

JudgeJ · 05/11/2021 09:53

@ArblemarchTFruitbat

Never, I hate bananas and anything banana-flavoured.

Socially embarrassing at times as you're supposed to drool over banoffee pie, banana bread etc.

I love bananas, just had a big one with my cereal, but I can't stand banana flavoured things, banoffee pie looks like something the cat sicked up. It's the same with almonds, I can eat almonds all day but marzipan etc I can't stand.

I had an endoscopy and the throat spray was banana flavoured, quite frankly the camera going down my throat was a doddle compared to the taste of the spray🤢
I don't mind them in smoothies, prefer to drink coconut water for the potassium, but bananas are cheaper.

Probably Amoxicillin. But nothing disguises the taste of penicillin.

All this talk of bananas reminds me of this. 🍌🍌🍌

Bananas are destroying the planet. All that shipping across the world.

Eat an avocado instead. They are much nicer.

avocados are no better www.greenmatters.com/p/avocado-environmental-impact

Because avocado production isn't a problem for the environment is it?
Bloodypunkrockers · 05/11/2021 10:16

@SixQuidGames

Is this one of those totes hilaire ‘accidental’ mistypes aiming for spitting tea, waking babies and nominations for classics?
So bloody transparent, isn't it

You missed out - dogs looking at posters as if they're mad.

longwayoff · 05/11/2021 10:17

No orifice is fit for a banana. Horrible things.

RedToothBrush · 05/11/2021 10:17

facepalm

Spot all the people who haven't read the thread and don't get sarcasm!

RockinHorseShit · 05/11/2021 10:19

😂😂😂😂

If you need potassium, coconut water is a much better source than bananas. It's easy to get plenty without going near a banana. I was shocked that the doctor who told me to eat bananas for the same reason, didn't actually have a friggin clue about potassium rich foods & there's way better options than a banana . It's even in potatoes. Just Google & go from there, but coconut water is an excellent one
