Don't actually like them ..but 1 or 2 I am aiming for .

OP posts:
GiantHaystacks2021 · 05/11/2021 03:11

I try to eat 1 or 2 a day.
They're a good appetite suppressant.
Not my favourite fruit though. Not by a long shot.

Cheesymonster · 05/11/2021 03:16

I’d like to hear more about the no bananas policy at work please.

Bortles · 05/11/2021 03:21

I am not keen unless on cornflakes with cold milk. I do like fake banana flavouring though and had the foam banana shower gel until I discovered it attracts wasps as it smells like the wasp 'danger' signal apparently... #bananafacts

Kajjjer93 · 05/11/2021 04:02

Make a smoothie with the banana or some other fruit or juice instead of forcing it down 😊

cloudrunner · 05/11/2021 04:55

Disguise the flavour in a banana pancake? - speedy, delicious and, unless banana is very ripe, the banana flavour vanishes. Mash banana, whisk an egg, combine, and cook slightly more slowly than a flour pancake. Eat alone or with nuts, berries, yoghurt on top.

Justilou1 · 05/11/2021 05:05

Bleurgh… take a multivitamin. I was force-fed bananas and custard as a kid and the thought of either of them STILL makes me want to barf. I’m almost 50.

Autumn101 · 05/11/2021 05:05

Also want to know more about the no banana place of work…….

I’m allergic to bananas, they have never and will never cross the threshold into my home! I’m so glad I can’t eat them as just the thought of the texture, smell etc makes me shiver. My DC are growing up just fine without them in their lives

MerryMarigold · 05/11/2021 05:10

I love bananas! You can make a nice banana muffin by blitzing it with milk and 1egg, then adding a bit of self raising flour. It's delicious!

Whingasaurus · 05/11/2021 05:16

Bananas on toast, the really ripe ones.
banana on grilled bacon, don't knock it til you've tried
Banana pancakes with maple syrup,
Homemade banana and cherry bread
Banana curry
Half banana rolled in cocoa powder stick a lolly stick in and freeze
Bananas grilled or even better fried in butter with your full English.
Banana and Custard with a swirl of homemade jam
The list is endless I never don't want a banana.
I do eat avocados but I prefer the ones grown in Birmingham........

MerryMarigold · 05/11/2021 05:24

Banana and Nutella crepe is my favourite.

Twatterati · 05/11/2021 05:30

Bleurghhhhh, hate the things! Haven't ever met anyone in RL that disliked them, so "hello" to all
you fellow 'nana haters.

They're vile, smelly things that turn black, mushy and mouldy in literally seconds and attract those pesky fruit flies.

Had no idea that other things contained potassium so won't bother with them again! A GREAT BIG "NO THANK YOU" TO BANANAS!

BarbaraofSeville · 05/11/2021 05:42

Waves to all the fellow banana haters. Especially those who agree with me about the foul smell of an overripe banana and that it is one of the most offensive things that can lurk in an office.

I can just about stomach them mashed into porridge or in a smoothie but I still retch at the sight and smell during preparation.

OP, how about eating nuts, particularly pistachios?

Or any of these foods?

SummerOrAutumn · 05/11/2021 05:46

I hate bananas. The smell makes me want to retch. However, I can cope with them in banana bread and banana ice cream.

Banana ice cream is really easy to do. Freeze sliced banana for a couple of hours or until solid but not completely frozen. Then blitz until smooth in food processor or whatever you have and add flavours like chocolate or vanilla or whatever you like. Peanut butter goes well imo, or a little maple syrup (a bit sickly but hides the banana-y flavour).

starrynight21 · 05/11/2021 05:49

I just take a supplement which contains potassium. Why force yourself to eat something, just to get an ingredient which you can get elsewhere ?

Thatsplentyjack · 05/11/2021 05:52

What a strange way to word the title.

TheUndeadLovelinessOfDemons · 05/11/2021 05:55

I have 1 a day as they prevent my eyelid from twitching.

StarlightLady · 05/11/2021 06:01

I like eating them, but if l try and force one into me it breaks 😂.

Justilou1 · 05/11/2021 06:01

The very idea of the smell and the mouthfeel of a banana - yeah and the taste.. makes my eye twitch. And my arse.
I think I have PTSD from my stupid grandmother and her bizarre obsession with “fattening up” babies.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 05/11/2021 06:15

@RedToothBrush

Bananas are destroying the planet. All that shipping across the world.

Eat an avocado instead. They are much nicer.

I imagine you are being sarcastic. What with avocado being a native British plant and not needing a ridiculous amount of water to grow.
wetpebbles · 05/11/2021 06:18

Cream of tartar is potassium, I used to have 1/4 tsp in water but stopped when I realised was contraindicated with other medicine I am taking

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 05/11/2021 06:27

There is no point in trying to forcefeed yourself something you don't really like, especially bananas. I like bananas but not every day - not even every week. They have to be just right in terms of ripeness, which for me is just perfectly yellow with the vaguest hint of green around the stem end still. Others like them differently but once the first spot appears, I'm done.

But bananas are not the only fruit Wink or veg that contain potassium, so try something else instead.

Avocados are an environmental disaster, see the link.

Because avocados are so local. Allotment is groaning with avocado glut.
