Don't actually like them ..but 1 or 2 I am aiming for .

Bananas upset me. I love them so much but they are so fickle!

"Urgh, I'm too green"
"Urgh, I'm too brown"
"Urgh, I think I'll go from green to brown and not even make myself nice for one day in between"

Don't even get me started on pears.

I thought bananas exist solely as a minor component of banana bread (banana to normal cake ingredients ratio being about 3:97). They’re an excuse to make a cake when they inevitably begin to rot because no one ACTUALLY likes bananas, surely?

Useless as the other thing too. No rigidity. Fall apart. And no one wants to eat one in that context either.

They’re just utterly sh*t. Across the board.

@RedToothBrush

Bananas are destroying the planet. All that shipping across the world.

Eat an avocado instead. They are much nicer.

🤣🤣🤣 total contradiction
MsWalterMitty · 05/11/2021 06:48

I imagine that biting in to a banana is like biting in to a poo

Whingasaurus · 05/11/2021 06:50

@saleorbouy. think A you've made your point and B you may just have missed the light hearted sarcasm in Reds original post......

lotusbell · 05/11/2021 06:50

Wow, this could be my thread! I'm not a massive fan due to texture, brown bits etc but try and eat one just because I am so lazy with fruit and it's one of the easiest. Funny how we spend time peeling and chopping veg for our meals, but fruit seems more hard work. Even grapes, strawberries etc, never get eaten.
Quite often peel a banana, take a bite and immediately regret it.
Thanks for sharing, I feel much less odd!

politics4me · 05/11/2021 06:56

They are quite filling compared to tomatoes.

AiryFairy1 · 05/11/2021 06:56

Never! They are the food of Satan (although I do tolerate banana bread, IF it’s not too banana-y)

Practicebeingpatient · 05/11/2021 07:13

I don't love them either but I try to eat a small one every day. My preferred way is sliced very thin into a bowl of mixed strawberries and blueberries and then stir in some Greek yoghurt. The other things soften the taste of the banana and the banana adds sweetness to the sometimes tart berries. Add mixed seeds for crunch.

MeanderingGently · 05/11/2021 07:22

Not keen on them, never eat them. Can't imagine why so much money is spent on shipping them across the world.....

Coffeepot72 · 05/11/2021 07:22

I don’t particularly like bananas but they’re quite filling and a useful snack when dieting

toolazytothinkofausername · 05/11/2021 07:27

Mash it then mix into porridge.

Couldhavebeenme3 · 05/11/2021 07:28

I've not eaten a banana for 40 years. Seem to be doing OK without the horrible yellow mushy yak in my life...

Amdone123 · 05/11/2021 07:32

I love bananas. The smell, the texture, brill for a snack when it's only 10am and lunch is far away...Someone bought me banana scented toiletries once - bubble bath, body lotion, shampoo and conditioner. Loved it.

I'll get me coat 🤣

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 05/11/2021 07:35

Baked potato (skin on obv) has 535mg potassium per 100g.

Banana has 358mg potassium per 100g.

No need to force a banana anywhere you don't want it to go. Potatoes, despite appearances, are definitely greener than either banana or avocado Wink

ApplesAreTheBaneOfMyLife · 05/11/2021 07:35

One a day but not forced. I love them.

CalamariGames · 05/11/2021 07:36

I don't like fresh banana much either but it's nice in cake. Chocolate is high in potassium btw.

SpookyScarySkeletons · 05/11/2021 07:38

Omg what have I just read??? 😂😂😂

Have an avocado instead (but eat it... don't force it in)

closedown · 05/11/2021 07:39

There are many different varieties of banana, some more firm than others, some powdery, etc. Can you buy any others in the UK if you look a bit harder? Or it's just those yucky ones that go from green and hard to brown and mushy to in about a day?

closedown · 05/11/2021 07:40

One fruit I recommend never forcing into yourself is a pineapple.
ThursdayLastWeek · 05/11/2021 07:46

This thread is so pleasing.
I get looked at like I have three heads when I say I don’t like bananas - people can’t fathom it.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 05/11/2021 07:50

Avocado has 485mg potassium per 100g. Humble skin on potato wins every time. (That would warm my dads Irish blood to know)

Katieandthekids · 05/11/2021 07:51

Came here thinking this was some weird sex thread and was intrigued.

Will leave saying just take a potassium supplement OP

SixQuidGames · 05/11/2021 07:53

Is this one of those totes hilaire ‘accidental’ mistypes aiming for spitting tea, waking babies and nominations for classics?

Bananas you
yellow oblong sticks, you look
Look like ball-less dicks
