Some very interesting traffic heading to Scotland for Cop 26.

PRES101 from Aerolinas Argentinas appears to be about to land at Prestwick.

Private jet LNX29KG also en route to Glasgow.

@weebarra

There's a plane from Athens currently just north of Rome which is 'BLOCKED'.

That's just a private jet, they often show as blocked on FR24. It's a Bombardier challenger 605

@BertiesShoes

All those questioning why Prestwick (eg is it cheaper), my DS is an air traffic buff, worked for NATS and visited Prestwick whilst with them, tells me that it has a bigger runway than Glasgow.
None of these aircraft need a bigger runway though. Glasgow is capable of holding them all. Its more to do with space on the ground.
KingsleyShacklebolt · 01/11/2021 08:04

Agree with @meltingappointment - Glasgow airport is the expensive NCP city centre car park costing £10 an hour Prestwick is the piece of waste ground guarded by a bloke in a high-vis jacket charging £10 all day.

If you see what I mean.

Space on the ground for the aircraft!

Two large US airforce military planes flying in convoy up the east side of England, just passing York. LAGR650 and LAGR651

Not Airforce One, but probably entourage flights or similar.

They both took off from an airbase in Suffolk? Cool to watch!
KingsleyShacklebolt · 01/11/2021 08:14

Yes Mildenhall. Which google tells me is a US base in Suffolk. Might be the large transport planes carrying the cars/motorbikes and other gear which the Pres travels with. But if they land in Edinburgh, that'll be definitely where Biden will land too.

Mildenhall? It's used by USAF all the time

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 01/11/2021 08:17

QID11 US Airforce also just departed Mildenhall.

Terriffids · 01/11/2021 08:17

Croatia Government heading north, currently east of Lancaster. Some of them are late getting to the party!

meltingappointment · 01/11/2021 08:17

Activity from mildenhall is normal most days so may or may not be connected with COP

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 01/11/2021 08:19

And Croatia just flying over the Lakes

Selkiesarereal · 01/11/2021 08:23

Just watched a big one come into Glasgow from Frankfurt and that’s not a normal route.

Terriffids · 01/11/2021 08:23

Government of Netherlands B737 currently north-east of Leicester.

Williamshatnershorses · 01/11/2021 08:23

Those two USAF are too high to be coming in to Edinburgh surely?

ReginaaPhalange · 01/11/2021 08:24

The 2 USAF have gone straight past Edinburgh unless coming in wide...

KingsleyShacklebolt · 01/11/2021 08:24

Yeah I just saw that. Lossiemouth maybe?

OP posts:
PokemonGoGoGo · 01/11/2021 08:24

I can't see B737 or QID11

ReginaaPhalange · 01/11/2021 08:25

@Williamshatnershorses DH mentioned leuchars could be a possibility for landing????

meltingappointment · 01/11/2021 08:25

Air Force One is airborne now

ReginaaPhalange · 01/11/2021 08:26

There's a few helicopters up at Aberdeen too...

ReginaaPhalange · 01/11/2021 08:26

Wait, one taken a sharp western turn

PokemonGoGoGo · 01/11/2021 08:26

Where are those two USAF one off to? Off the East coast of Scotland heading north - not heading for Edinburgh by the looks of it.
