Some very interesting traffic heading to Scotland for Cop 26.

PRES101 from Aerolinas Argentinas appears to be about to land at Prestwick.

Private jet LNX29KG also en route to Glasgow.

The small jet is coming in from Guinea-Bissau. So fascinating to watch the flights tonight.

ToooOldForThis · 31/10/2021 23:25

Whoever is coming into Prestwick now is noisy!

ReginaaPhalange · 31/10/2021 23:27

@ToooOldForThis ah sorry, I'll get the engine of my private jet looked into ;)

Is it the Ryanair Alicante flight?

Was it not Prestwick to Riga taking off?
BoJoSecretGF · 31/10/2021 23:28

The Azerbaijanis have taken off just now. Maybe it was that plane you heard. Did they forget to turn the gas off?

ToooOldForThis · 31/10/2021 23:29

Yes I think you are probably right @choux!
@ReginaaPhalange thank you Grin

Williamshatnershorses · 31/10/2021 23:34

I’m off. I shall hopefully continue Biden watch tomorrow (or get woken up by him clattering over at some ungodly hour). Here’s hoping it’s the former!

tiredoftiers · 31/10/2021 23:37

Now landing from the south into Glasgow airport. Wind must have changed.

HadEnoughOfBears · 31/10/2021 23:41

So I love this thread. But the best thing is that I did NOT know that 'Aurora flights' were an actual thing! I am shook 😮😮
Absolutely on my bucket list to see the northern lights.
Also I have a big birthday next year...you can see where I'm going with this! I've sent links on to the relevant people 😂

cuttlefishgame · 31/10/2021 23:41

@Williamshatnershorses

Meanwhile…the aurora flight from Edinburgh is now doing zigzags west of Orkney and Shetland so both sides of the cabin can get a look🤣
They are still up there, so the aurora must be pretty spectacular tonight.

I must admit I'd quite like to be on that one.

KloppsTeeth · 31/10/2021 23:50

This is all really interesting! I didn’t know aurora flights were a thing either, I’d love to go on one.

Choux · 01/11/2021 00:05

I also didn't know aurora flights existed and sent the link on to a friend who missed her big birthday celebrations due to Covid. She was musing a trip to see the northern lights with me and a couple of other friends pre March 2020.

I would much rather spend a weekend in Edinburgh with a sightseeing trip presumably guaranteed to see them than go to Iceland / Scandinavia and risk cloud with no sightings.

Hawkins001 · 01/11/2021 00:34

@ReginaaPhalange

Chatter on twitter is Biden is staying at gleneagles. Apparently it's been in lockdown since yesterday...
Much appreciated, for the intel.

US Air Force Hercules on the coast of Spain heading south?

Friolero · 01/11/2021 06:02

Royal Thai Air Force looks like it's just coming into Prestwick now, from Cologne.

notimagain · 01/11/2021 06:35

Re the mention aurora trips and

Not sure the operators can ever guarantee a sighting, certainly not something spectacular.., the aurora simply isn’t that predictable (as some found out this week end)..

I spent a lot of my time during my career flying across places like Canada and Northern Russia, both prime Aurora country, at night, and you maybe got to see some form of Aurora about 30% of the time….bright display maybe less than 20% of flights on those routes.

SchoolForScoundrels · 01/11/2021 07:39

Just spotted Thai Air Force at Prestwick

Loving this thread btw.

Laughsandgiggles · 01/11/2021 07:41

I heard Thai Air Force going over. Would've had a bumpy landing as it's very very windy here!

Any idea if AF1 is in yet?

KingsleyShacklebolt · 01/11/2021 07:50

Apparently Biden stayed another night in Rome and is due in at some point this morning.

Bulgarian government plane on approach just coming up to Lanark. At least the fog has gone this morning so I'll see the planes today.

weebarra · 01/11/2021 07:55

There's a plane from Athens currently just north of Rome which is 'BLOCKED'.

Ooh that’s exciting to know. My 12yo has had a look this morning and loved it too so we will be keeping an eye out!
BertiesShoes · 01/11/2021 07:58

All those questioning why Prestwick (eg is it cheaper), my DS is an air traffic buff, worked for NATS and visited Prestwick whilst with them, tells me that it has a bigger runway than Glasgow.

PokemonGoGoGo · 01/11/2021 07:58

Italy Air Force plane

KingsleyShacklebolt · 01/11/2021 07:59

There's also a wee jet speeding across the North Sea towards Scotland from Copenhagen, FA8X.
