Is there any decent soap left? Recommended me some!

Imperial leather -what happened to it? It's a mushy mess! Eugh, and I've got four bars of the foul stuff.

I'm sure it never used to be so soft and messy. Is there any decently priced soap ( could push the boat out for some quality) that won't mush or crack?

I prefer bar soap to liquid.

Thank you!

I love Imperial Leather. It doesn’t go mushy if you stand it on the little paper label in a dry spot (any bar soap will mush in a puddle IME!)

Fuckingfuckssake · 20/10/2021 14:23

Get yourself to TKMAXX, there's always lots of lovely soap in the clearance bit, 3 or 4 quid for a massive bar that'll last months.

BeetleyCarapace · 20/10/2021 14:26

The best soaps I've had have been handmade jobs from people working for themselves locally. Not especially expensive either (obviously you can pay a lot more).

Otherwise, I get on OK with Dr Bronner, although it wears down quickly I find. Nesti Dante is obviously nice, albeit with a bewildering selection of scent options. Arran Sense of Scotland have some nice ones.

Waitrose own brand - camomile or ginger and something - is really good for a supermarket soap. But comes in cellophane packaging.

Another vote for TK Maxx soaps. Gorgeous big bars of French soap that smell incredible and last around 3 months each.

RampantIvy · 20/10/2021 14:29

My Imperial Leather doesn't go mushy. Maybe you need a new soap dish?

blobby10 · 20/10/2021 14:39

I use the cheapest unscented ones - I think its Simple - as anything scented gives me intense itching in my intimate areas! I got one of the plastic soap boxes from Dunelm and its been great for the soap not cracking. I live alone so a bar on a handbasin lasts for ages.

JudgementalCactus · 20/10/2021 14:39

Nesti Dante soaps. I bought the Il Fruttero set of 6 to gift to someone and they smell lovely.

The one I got for myself (regina di peonie) lathers beautifully but is more subtly scented.

RiverSkater · 20/10/2021 14:39

Hmm. Could be the dish. It's one of those ones that drain with holes in the bottom, but I'll try the kitchen paper!
Each bar came in plastic , then an outer of plastic. 😕

I usually buy Johnson's baby soap, the honey one but there was none in my shop and this was a substitute.

I need to get to TK Max by the sound of it!

I love bar soap I have so many , I try to hide them so no one can see my addiction . But I would recommend a soap dish that allows air to flow under the soap . I have one of those shower organizers that hang on the shower door , from B&M I think .
I get most of my soaps from Amazon . I like Nesti Dante , Savon de marseille ( which comes very eco friendly packaging ) and Bronnley which does old fashioned English soaps .

Tmaxx soaps are 👍 great

bogeythefungusman · 20/10/2021 17:49

TKMaxx usually have beautiful Florentine and Provencal soaps - huge bars which last ages. I love the citrus ones.

Phyllis321 · 20/10/2021 17:55

Bronnley lemon soap is absolutely divine.

midsomermurderess · 20/10/2021 19:11

Pears is my go to soap. It doesn't go mushy or crack.

Classica · 20/10/2021 19:14

Claus Porto is you've got mega wonga

Neste Dante for a very nice and more affordable option

TK Maxx for variety of Italian soaps at a great price

Chicchicchicchiclana · 20/10/2021 19:15

If you use any bar of soap every day it won't crack. I love bar soap and am so disappointed in the tiny selection in most shops. If I could bring back two products it would be the original Palmolive and Fairy soap bars that were the standards in my childhood.

And mine.

It's not even technically soap but I love Galinee cleansing bars, use it all over my body and face, really nice stuff.

TaraR2020 · 20/10/2021 19:19

I love body shop soaps! Leave hands really soft afterwards too

Okiki soaps are gorgeous. Not cheap but they last for a good while

I buy Lidls unscented soap 59p for 4 bars. It's the only one I have found that doesn't aggravate my various skin conditions (face/back acne and eczema on my legs!)

Lessstressedhemum · 20/10/2021 19:59

Friendly Soap is brilliant.

Ditto, but hands off the ones in the reduced section where the wrapping is a bit damaged, they are mine, all mine....
StrangeAddiction · 20/10/2021 20:05

I like Palm Olive soap, the original one (green). It smells clean and fresh and doesn't leave my hands sore and rough.
