Another slightly odd lighthearted thread!

I've realised that I really love the smell of dust burning on a radiator Blush

Anyone else?

Dogs ears and paws, morning after bonfire night, burnt toast, creosote, marker pens, nail polish

inmyslippers · 05/10/2021 21:18

The smell of brand new sponges . It’s so chemically and addictive

^^ yes they're divine

Hugoslavia · 05/10/2021 21:18

Sweaty horses, damp wool jumpers, new plastic pencil cases (there is a particular soft plastic that smells amazing), fabric plasters, camomile lotion, pencil sharpenings and wet cats. I think essentially anything that reminds me of my childhood.

Eve81 · 05/10/2021 21:18

Chlorine.

1happyhippie · 05/10/2021 21:18

Petrol, car oil, diesel. My dad worked as a mechanic when I was little in a garage. I used to love the smell of the place.
His boiler suit would hang in the cupboard at home and the smell hit you when you opened the door.
Also pipe tobacco. Reminds me of my grandad. Very comforting smell.

Hugoslavia · 05/10/2021 21:18

Rubber hot water bottles

LubaLuca · 05/10/2021 21:19

@waybill

Tinsel. Has to be old tinsel though, the more modern stuff doesn't smell right at all.
Oooh, yes, I love to bury my face in my mum's ancient tinsel.

I love the smell of glue and chemist's shops (not Boots, the little ones that all smell the same).

nordica · 05/10/2021 21:19

The smell in the air after fireworks.

Hugoslavia · 05/10/2021 21:21

I once stayed in a treehouse in Queensland and a possum would climb up the tree at night and onto my lap. It had the sweetest smelling fur. I can still almost smell it.

Softkitty101 · 05/10/2021 21:21

WD40!

Hugoslavia · 05/10/2021 21:22

Also those craft uht glue sticks (that contain clear glue that comes out of a little sponge at the end). They smell almost perfumed.

MmeD · 05/10/2021 21:23

Onlyfoolsandhorseswork · 05/10/2021 21:24

Tcp-it takes me back to my granddad
Ditto, vosene, sunlight soap and the bit of the matchbox that you run the match over to strike it
Also books-I love opening a book and the smell is so comforting

Hugoslavia · 05/10/2021 21:24

I was also going to say my husband's armpits, but thought that you would all be grossed out. Agree that it has to be the warm smell of skin and faded deodorant rather than a BO kind of smell.

Obsidiansphere · 05/10/2021 21:25

Tarmac
Creosote
Petrol
Old pub stale ale
Old style tippex 80’s style (before they removed the smell)
Cigars and pipe which my grandads smoked

Hugoslavia · 05/10/2021 21:25

Straw hats is another one.

Maskless · 05/10/2021 21:26

Coffee! I love the smell of the beans, the beans being ground, the ground up beans, the smell when it's being made into a cup of coffee, the works.

Why is this odd?

Because I cannot bear the taste of it. Yuk yuk. Vile.

MmeD · 05/10/2021 21:26

I’ve just tried to smell my cat’s paws. But I can’t smell anything.

She’s unimpressed and has batted my nose before walking off.

PlanetTeaTime · 05/10/2021 21:27

Petrol

Fresh cigarette smoke

Simonjt · 05/10/2021 21:27

Sweat, particularly neck and armpits, my husbands, not random stangers on the tube.

Fox musk.

Maskless · 05/10/2021 21:27

I love the smell of my cat's fur and skin.

Toottooot · 05/10/2021 21:27
