Does texting work?

coodawoodashooda · 04/10/2021 21:00

Oh phew i thought it was just me.

25yearsnhsworker · 04/10/2021 21:02

Yes texting is working

Sparklingbrook · 04/10/2021 21:02

Yes, texts are normal (well mine are). Just texted DS2 although he is just upstairs, couldn't be bothered to shout him.
Bedsheets4knickers · 04/10/2021 21:03

I thought my phone had been quiet tonight

RedRiverShore · 04/10/2021 21:03

Other stuff will be overloaded now with everyone using iMessage and texting instead and panicking to each other

savagebaggagemaster · 04/10/2021 21:06

The return of Jeffrey

RampantIvy · 04/10/2021 21:07

I reckon since about 4.30 because I had just messaged DD then, and it never sent.

KingsleyShacklebolt · 04/10/2021 21:08

Last message received in my very active group at 16.39

Autumnleavesfalling · 04/10/2021 21:09

I am really missing it 😦 didn't realise as a single parent how much I rely on them in the evening

FudgeFlake · 04/10/2021 21:10

Its annoying, I've just had to use an actual old fashioned voice call to sort out a scheduling problem for work tomorrow. Irritating for both me and client as both of us were trying to put children to bed and messaging would have been much much easier.

FreddyMercurysCat · 04/10/2021 21:12

And now Gmail so I can't do any uni work.

Off to drink wine instead

CosmicComfort · 04/10/2021 21:16

It’s ds1’s first full day at University, arrived yesterday. Few problems last night with poor network so persuaded him to join WhatsApp which he did about 30 minutes before the outage🤣🤣

He is doing good today apparently but I was worried, he had a few issues last night and was a bit stressed out😫

Sparklingbrook · 04/10/2021 21:17

My Gmail is working.
LorenzoVonMatterhorn · 04/10/2021 21:19

Hmm judging by the list of what is no longer working, does anyone else think Mumsnet, which is working perfectly, is behind it all Confused

Just had a message from WA 'some messages aren't loading'.... no shit Sherlock

1309username · 04/10/2021 21:28

Today was the first day my daughter came home from school by bus, thankfully WhatsApp went down 20 minutes after I picked her up from the bus stop.

adoreyou · 04/10/2021 21:28

Anyone else hoping they never come back?

taeglas · 04/10/2021 21:32

The Line App is working (similar to WhatsApp ) but mainly used in Asia. Been using line to message a UK friend this evening.

What a ridiculous comment Hmm. DD is away at university and has a crap telephone signal where she is. I would like her to be able to contact me if she needs to.

I guess if you have no friends and family then it doesn't matter if you have no means of digital communication.

RampantIvy · 04/10/2021 21:39

I'm not fussed about Instagram because isn't it mainly used by attention seeking "influencers" these days?

CoffeeAndKittens · 04/10/2021 21:40

@adoreyou

Erm no! My daughter is away at school and my husband is overseas for work WhatsApp is the only app that reliably works so we can all chat together. I'm also part of a charity group that organises assistance by WhatsApp Groups.
Sparklingbrook · 04/10/2021 21:41

I'm not that fussed about Instagram or FB coming back quickly, Whatsapp is useful for sending pictures and having group chats etc.
I've just been texting tonight so I've managed to be in contact with everyone I've needed to.

olidora63 · 04/10/2021 21:43

As a mum with three adult children I really do rely on messenger/ FB to connect with my lovely family …my comfort zone!

I never post anything myself, I've a few friends that do interesting things (DIY/travel) on there and a few slebs that I find entertaining on but don't use it as a communication tool.
