OP posts:
Picklypickles · 04/10/2021 20:01

Sigh, just as I was about to sit down and play a bit of Junes Journey!

NatashaRf · 04/10/2021 20:02

I can cope fine without FB/Insta but no WhatsApp is a real bummer.

spiderlight · 04/10/2021 20:03

Argh. I've been keeping a friend company via Messenger all day as she sits at her critically ill child's bedside. I don't have any other way to contact her - we both have massive phone anxiety, so despite having known her nearly forty years, I don't have a number to text her (and obviously phoning would be intrusive anyway). Hopefully it will all be working again by the morning.

Sparklingbrook · 04/10/2021 20:04

Does anyone remember when MN went down for about 2 days when it was hacked? We all got a lot done IIRC. Grin

isthismylifenow · 04/10/2021 20:05

I think it's trying. I just got the familar ping from WA, then the message saying you may have new whatsapp messages. I went in and.....

nada. Just the grey clock wotsit next to my 5 sent messages.

They are messing with us now.....

bendmeoverbackwards · 04/10/2021 20:05

Arrgghh, no WhatsApp is bloody annoying!

meow1989 · 04/10/2021 20:05

@spiderlight you can still get on to se contact detail on WhatsApp- copy and paste the number and you can textSmile

I remember that. I also took it quite personally as I had just made a lengthy post about something arb I'm sure. I was sure it was my fault.
spiderlight · 04/10/2021 20:13

@meow1989 - she doesn't use WhatsApp and I don't have her number, as we literally only ever chat via FB and Messenger and have done for years, but I'll make sure I get her number as backup as soon as it's all back up.

SmallPrawnEnergy · 04/10/2021 20:13

A lot of people don’t use the telephone function because they can’t. My deaf friend really wouldn’t appreciate a 2 hour phone call tbh. But it’s no surprise there is ableism buried in sarcasm all over this thread.

Squiz81 · 04/10/2021 20:13

@meow1989 I think she means Facebook messenger not WhatsApp

I hope you are ok and really understand where you are coming from. It is really stressful not being to able to contact someone that really needs your support 💕I hope your friend is ok and her child is getting better….this world is so difficult to navigate these days! My daughter is on her own with her baby and is feeling very vulnerable..about 30 miles away!!

I've resorted to emailing my sister. She replied saying "this is like the stone ages" Grin

WrapAroundYourDreams · 04/10/2021 20:21

I can live without petrol but WhatsApp?! This is horrible!

Gingercatlover · 04/10/2021 20:21

I have had a game with Tesco tonight also, trying to update my order for tomorrow but the website was crashing and wouldn't load properly?

Seems facebook issues are cascading through the internet, taking other bits with it.

what no whatsapp?
Blackbutler86 · 04/10/2021 20:25

For anyone worried get Signal, it’s in the AppStore and is basically identical to WhatsApp.

HoneyDragon · 04/10/2021 20:29

I find messenger easier for idle chat as I’m hearing impaired. If I receive a call my mobile is easier as I can set it to work with my hearing aids but the mobile networks are all affected and my landline is via the modem I’m just going to stick to floating around Mumsnet and moan about about the inconvenience.

pointythings · 04/10/2021 20:32

Not having WhatsApp is annoying, it alleviates my empty nest syndrome because the family group chat makes me feel mt kids are kind of still with me.

But I'll cope, and it'll come back up.

SeriousNotions · 04/10/2021 20:35

I’ve just got a message on my iPhone stating my fb password has appeared in a data leek and to change my password immediately. I’ve no idea if this is part of fb being down.
I can’t change my password because fb in down!!

potkettleblock · 04/10/2021 20:35

Is Snapchat also down?! I used that to send a message instead, not sure if it’s down or if she’s just not opened it!

Yogsgirl · 04/10/2021 20:35

Sooo enjoying not having to chat shit with my 'bestie' stalker friend!

Tara336 · 04/10/2021 20:37

Am I the only one quite enjoying the peace? I always feel stupidly pressured to respond to wassap and Facebook messages and today I don’t have too
