Are you one of those people that never answers the front door too? I have never been afraid of having telephone conversations, had a nice hour chat to my sister yesterday. Very old school, clearly.

To also refer to my above post.... I don't answer the door because of aggressive bailiffs/TV licencing people so the same anxiety applies, and again I'm not the only one!

That and sales people/Jehovas witnesses/charity chuggers really piss me off and waste my time.

I get that given the very specific situation you describe. (I was apprehensive about the postman for a while when a family member was expecting medical news). With phones now able to tell you who is calling then that makes those calls easier to avoid. But some don't want to even make a call let alone receive one. Like make a hairdresser or dental appointment etc...

WOW, that's interesting. Thank you! I am on Vodafone, and I struggled to get through to the doctor this afternoon, and when I did, they struggled to hear me. Ditto the dentist. Couldn't hear me speaking, and I went indoors and rang from the landline in the end.

As I typed that my screen brightness dipped 👀
