Uncommon opinions

I hate travelling. Don’t like going on holidays and I don’t like staying in hotels.

Most people live boring average lives (myself included). So much feels pointless since we all end up in the same position in the end.

Life is dull most of the time.

Most marriages are like roommates with occasional sex thrown in.

And you? What uncommon opinions do you have?

That anyone who has an opinion about how lovely a member of the Royal Family or anyone very famous is naive at best or an idiot. Unless you know them, you have no real idea of what they are like.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 04/10/2021 16:14

@AWiseWomanOnceSaidFuckThisShit

Dogs are fucking annoying
That is actually a popular opinion on Mumsnet!
Squirrelblanket · 04/10/2021 16:18

I'm not a fan of live music. Especially random gigs/festivals.

Squirrelblanket · 04/10/2021 16:19

Also, long, fake nails are absolutely grim.🤮

I agree

Landlords should be made to provide valid reason for evictions just as an employer has to when dismissing an employee with employment protection.

shallIswim · 04/10/2021 16:38

I'm quite happy if the bride and groom ask for cash. They're throwing a nice party for me to go to after all.

shallIswim · 04/10/2021 16:44

I didn't clap for Carers; I cringed for carers. I found the whole exercise urgh.

fantasmasgoria1 · 04/10/2021 17:11

Seaandsandcastles I agree with you to an extent but I don't think it's the majority. I think some people are so depressed it's so hard to make an effort to even make a drink or clean their teeth let alone do their therapy homework. I have a serious and complex mental illness with depression, paranoia and anxiety plus a very painful spinal condition. I have minimal energy and motivation. My cpn gives me stuff to read and do but she knows how I feel. It's not often because people don't want to make an effort it's because they can't.

Ihavenoauthority · 04/10/2021 17:16

I don't really like music.

squishee · 04/10/2021 17:26

@TableFlowerss

I can’t stand mayonnaise.

Absolute minging stuff and brings nothing to the flavour of food, other than vinegary white off salad cream stuff. How anyone enjoys that shit is beyond me. Salad cream is even worse bowk

Ah but. Spread the outside slices of a cheese sandwich with mayo. Brown the sandwich on both sides in an otherwise dry pan. You may change your mind, as the egg in the mayo crisps and browns the outsides while the cheese melts inside...
squishee · 04/10/2021 17:32

Mint toothpaste is not refreshing. Makes me gag.

@3luckystars

I absolutely HATE walking. I know other people love it and feel great after a walk but I think I have wasted the time and feel really angry and cold if I have to walk anywhere. I wish I liked it. I see families going for walks and they look so together, but when I try to get my family all out for a walk I feel so stressed out.
I could have written this Grin
Maskless · 04/10/2021 19:31

I'm not interested in children.

I don't want to have any. I don't want to meet yours, I don't long to hold a baby and I don't want to hear parents crowing about theirs.

I am however very interested in their welfare and education as a collective group because they will make the next generation of adults.

pinkhampoppy · 04/10/2021 19:37

@DivingBoardInGuernsey

I love winter. Not the winter of films (crisp autumn days or deep snowdrifts, though I love those too) but the real winter: rain, wind, grey skies, hail, darker mornings and evenings. I like being outdoors in it, as well as cosying up afterwards.

Not at all keen on summer, I'd be perfectly happy without June, July and August tbh.

Every single word!

Actually, I'm not even that bothered about cosying up afterwards.

SerenShine · 04/10/2021 21:03

@Bobbiethemouse

Blended families are selfish and benefit the adults not the kids. People don’t need to have a baby with every new relationship. People who show off cupboards full of cleaning products are sad cases!
There are people who show off cupboards full of cleaning products??? Jesus...

Wearing knickers under PJs is absurd.

julieca · 05/10/2021 00:18

You can't control to an nth degree how everyone interacts with your child, and then expect people to still take an interest in your child. Most people just back off and leave you to it.

XenoBitch · 05/10/2021 00:31

@bringincrazyback

Wearing knickers under PJs is absurd.
Why? Most people tend to get a few days wear out of PJs. Knickers will absorb any discharge.
XenoBitch · 05/10/2021 00:32

It is ok to buy the cheap chicken in the supermarket.

Hawkins001 · 05/10/2021 00:51

When it comes to weddings , I wonder just how faithful they are and will be as a married couple, yes cynical , I know, but that's partly due to mumsnet

XenoBitch · 05/10/2021 01:29

@LobsterNapkin

The puffed up lips that are popular now look like some sort of anal prolapse.

I hate the animal rescue videos that are all over FB. I am not talking about rescuers trying to capture a poorly dog, or similar... I am on about people "rescuing" animals from what would be a natural course of events for most. Anthropomorphising all over the place. No, the bee you just fed sugar to is not hanging around as a way to thank you.

I suspect a lot of these, especially involving dogs and cats, are faked.

Yeah, you are probably right. If I saw an animal in distress, the last thing I would be doing is trying to film the whole rescue process too.

It is the anthropomorphising that gets to me. I saw a video recently of a "rescue". The narrator was saying " I could see the pain in their eyes.. they were giving up, yet looking at me for help". It was a fish in a pet shop.

LookAtMoiPloise · 05/10/2021 01:39

Children are tedious, bad for the environment and have a high chance of ruining your body, mental health, career and relationship for little reward. I am consequently careful with contraception and if I got pregnant, would abort without a second thought

I totally agree

petalblossom · 05/10/2021 09:38

The views you have are not entirely voluntary. They are a combination of experience, education, reason and logic.

The friends finale was an anti climax

So bloody weird to be on a website called Mumsnet when you hate children. It seems like this is an unpopular opinion but having children is brilliant.

Watching them grow up is such a privilege, mine are funny, bright and so clever and they make me laugh all the time. They're like little sponges who just want to learn and seeing the world through their eyes makes life worth living. Don't care what my body looks like after having them, and there's more to life than having a nice looking body. I enjoy spending money on them. The reward for having them is that you have these amazing little people in your life who you love more than anything else.

Also .. i don't care if people are a little bit irritated or inconvenienced by my children every now and again. "Children should be seen and not heard" is a Victorian attitude that's got no place in society.
