Just heard it on the radio. It knocked me for six.
He was only 59. One of the funniest men on telly and radio.
RIP Sean

Such a funny guy always made me laugh! Loved his sketch on The Tiger who come for a pint. Absolutely hilarious. Rip Sean

That's such sad news.
His poor family.

TheDogsMother · 18/08/2021 11:51

This is such sad news. I loved his humour.

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 18/08/2021 11:52

Thinking of his friends and family, he was utterly hilarious and so quick witted.

pinkcircustop · 18/08/2021 11:52

It’s very sad and very unexpected Sad He was a great comedian and will be very much missed Flowers

SpringRainbow · 18/08/2021 11:52

Just seen this, was a huge shock. I had no idea he was ill.

TangledUp789 · 18/08/2021 11:52

So sad to hear this, I didn’t know he was ill. I think I’ll give 15 Storeys High a re-watch today, one of my all time favourite sitcoms.

@KonTikki

BBC website is reporting death as skin cancer, aged 58 Very sad.
He had skin cancer around 30 years ago when he was a builder and it was sorted - the BBC report doesn't say it killed him - just that he made a full recovery.

It may well have returned, but I haven't seen any indication yet of what cancer he died of.

AngryWhompingWillow · 18/08/2021 11:54

He did have skin cancer several decades back, but I wonder if it was throat cancer this time, because when he was on 8 out of 10 Cats a year or so ago, his voice was very croaky and strained.

Cherrysoup · 18/08/2021 11:55

His voice was affected quite strangely at one point. I loved his humour, 8 out of ten cats won’t be as good without him.

peaceanddove · 18/08/2021 11:55

So sad. Saw him at a university party back in the early 90s and he was brilliantly funny.

georgarina · 18/08/2021 11:56

Nooo. I love his stuff, watch his standup and loved him on 8 out of 10 cats, it's pretty much my go-to when I want something to make me laugh. RIP

Saucery · 18/08/2021 11:56

Bloody hell, that’s sad Sad

I think I will too

It's heartwarming to read the tributes from other comedians. I hope they are of some comfort to his family.

A sad loss to the world of comedy.

waterlego · 18/08/2021 12:02

Very sad news. We saw him live a few years ago and he was the funniest comedian I’ve ever seen- just hilarious and so self-deprecating. The last time I saw him on TV, he didn’t look too well. Rest in peace Sean, thank you for the laughs.

Thesandmanishere · 18/08/2021 12:03

Why is everyone trying to guess what kind of cancer he died from?

RIP Sean Flowers

Thelnebriati · 18/08/2021 12:09

RIP Flowers

DoctorTwo · 18/08/2021 12:10

Genuinely wish I hadn't checked Mumsnet at the park now, what a pisser.
Did he get to National Treasure status?

AreYouSiriusLupin · 18/08/2021 12:17

So sad. Absolutely loved him, so funny.

Thoughts with his family Flowers

Guess? He died from cancer that’s all we need to know. However, he was interviewed by a newspaper almost exactly one year ago warning people about skin cancer. He obviously wanted to spread awareness of this terrible illness. I don’t see anything wrong with sharing his relatively recent article. If one person reads it and it prevents them from suffering that’s a good thing.
