Why have farmers got no proper voice, derxa?
I'm not sure that I understand about Jeremy Clarkson?

Roussette · 16/08/2021 19:46

It's not about me, I know that, never even hinted at that. But it's also not just about farmers either. There's plenty more it's about.
I know Charles has spoken up for small farmers and that's admirable.

SpindleWhorl · 16/08/2021 19:47

Jeremy Clarkson buys up land where he's not wanted and pisses off the locals = farming.

worriedatthemoment · 16/08/2021 19:48

Why if he is found not guilty? If it went to trial would he actually get one as everyone has made their minds up

derxa · 16/08/2021 19:54

There are so few of us. The public are bombarded with so much false information about environmental impacts. The NFU and SFU are useless. Jeremy Clarkson runs a farm and he made a series for Amazon Prime. It was great because it shows how much effort we put in often for very little reward. The love we have for our animals etc. Anyway I'll go back to lurking...

Rubbish

The jury would decide. Not us.

Justice is blind.

PartridgeFeather · 16/08/2021 19:57

@Roussette Fucking off out of Cornwall would be slightly more admirable of him. But why do that when you can ponce about in taxpayer-funded kilts and preach to the serfs while funding the new Stateside royal circus to keep us entertained. We hapless peasants need something to brighten our days!!

Roussette · 16/08/2021 20:00

Well.. we do have to be spoon fed a daily diet of Royalty, Partridge, otherwise our lives would be seriously empty....

PartridgeFeather · 16/08/2021 20:12

Indeed, Roussette. Happily, I get that diet on the reddit anti-monarchy thread, which despite its high f-word content is also rich in interesting facts about wealthy middle aged paedos and their mums.

Roussette · 16/08/2021 20:16

An antidote then?! Grin

worriedatthemoment · 16/08/2021 20:23

@SpindleWhorl I am aware but too much in papers before a trial can harm a trial as be very hard pushed to find anyone who hasn't read something about all this

Maireas · 16/08/2021 20:41

derxa thanks, I haven't seen that programme.

purpletrains · 16/08/2021 22:31

She was 17. Hanging out with maxwell and Epstein! They abused her and mistreated her

He was 40. a sweaty divorced dad

Hardly the bloody high life is it

She is only about 5 years older than his daughter

Fucking prick! He could have helped her but instead he took advantage

I hope he gets what is coming

Pixxie7 · 16/08/2021 23:10

If he was as he claims innocent he wouldn’t be claiming diplomatic immunity and go to trial to clear his name.

SamiReed1 · 17/08/2021 00:26

@derxa And you really think the pampered, spoiled, rich bludgers like the Royals give a flying fuck about farmers? Are you for real? They wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire. They don't care.

It seems you're annoyed that the TRUTH about the degradation farmers do to the environment is being called out. Farmers on the whole are selfish and irresponsible, and bloodthirsty. Actually famers are as selfish as the RF. Trying to 'talk down' the effects on the environment to abrogate their responsibilities is proof of this.

SamiReed1 · 17/08/2021 00:28

I live in a rural and farming area, grazier and dairy country. I know exactly what I'm talking about.

SpindleWhorl · 17/08/2021 00:57

The Independent is keeping up the pressure today. Not 'new news' by any stretch, but additional pressure in the MSM, especially the 'Person of Interest' headline.

Prince Andrew is a “person of interest” for prosecutors in the Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein investigation, a report says.

Officials in the United States want to interview the Queen’s son about his friendship with the late sex offender as they investigate potential co-conspirators, according to Reuters.

Andrew = Person of Interest. Absolutely crap optics.

You're clearly not in the UK
Roussette · 17/08/2021 07:08

This is about Andrew, I'm not sure Andrew knows a jot about farming. Confused

I do wonder if... the fact Andrew was not stripped of his military titles and patronages when he stepped down, meant the RF planned on keeping him as a royal, and for the scandal to blow over. However... now... that means anything they do looks like an admission of guilt.

Also the Palace has done everything within its power to encourage patronages to keep PA on as a patron. Some charities have tried to dump PA only to get pressure from the palace to keep him on. The official royal website lists him as having 119... apparently that is not the case, he has a handful of charities and patronages, mostly golf clubs and military given by the Queen.

I think this can only get worse but how far the palace are happy to go to cut PA loose is unknown.

EdithWeston · 17/08/2021 07:40

Which are they? I hadn't realised that was happening.

The honorary military ranks are probably on the way out (I've seen that in press commentary for the first time just lately).

Roussette · 17/08/2021 07:54

There are various sources out there saying this. He is listed on royal website as patron of certain charities, whilst those charities have actually removed him.
Alderney Maritime Trust and Berkshire Golf Club for instance.

Oldbutstillgotit · 17/08/2021 08:36

I know it’s The Express but …
www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.express.co.uk/news/royal/1476810/Prince-Andrew-patron-charities-dropped/amp

I read that Charles and William want him removed from his military roles but can’t remember where !

Blossomtoes · 17/08/2021 09:31

To be fair, there’s still no mention of Lilibet on the Royal website, they don’t seem to be very good at updating it at the moment. According to the Express the ones he’s got left are the military ones - whose days are numbered - and some golf clubs that fear they’d lose the Royal in their names if they ditched him. You’d expect male dominated bastions of misogyny to be the last to let him go, wouldn’t you?

AnnunciataZ · 17/08/2021 10:10

Lilibet is on the official royal website now but Andrew's bio doesn't seem to have been updated since the announcement that he was stepping down from royal duties. Though tbf there isn't much to say right now. He did have his own website at one point but that's now been redirected to go to his page on the royal family site.
