Being stripped of his military honours and having no place in public life will do that quite adequately. Remember the alleged uniform row before the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral? Not being able to wear any uniform anywhere will really sting.

I do hope that happens, @Blossomtoes. Is it likely to happen while HMQ is still alive?

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 16/08/2021 16:55

@SpindleWhorl

The victim blamers / rape apologists pop up on various threads - I recognise a couple of names. I wonder if MNHQ might start giving them warnings or strikes? They really are sickening.
Sickening and offensive, I thoroughly agree.

I've been trailed around this site by one of them, with accusations that I'm a misandrist because I inconveniently persist in talking about my two experiences of rape.

MNHQ did on that occasion ask the offending member to leave. Where they get off on this behaviour I can't begin to guess.

I will not shut up.

Roussette · 16/08/2021 16:57

@MarieIVanArkleStinks

That is awful . Don't shut up, keep speaking out.

It looks that way, as I said, The Telegraph’s already speculating about who will get them as if it’s a done deal that he’ll lose them. That’s really going to hurt.
Maireas · 16/08/2021 17:07

Never shut up, @MarieIVanArkleStinks.
Don't let them shut you down.

IheartJKR · 16/08/2021 17:07

@MarieIVanArkleStinks

Flowers in solidarity

Thank you also - and to all the other posters who come on to challenge the apologists. I quite often don’t have the energy and am truly grateful to those of you who speak for us.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 16/08/2021 17:23

@GullyGull

Does anyone feel sorry for PAs daughters? I mean he tried to use one of them as an alibi, that's got to sting a bit.

Suspect they are being gaslighted by both PA and Fergie on an epic scale with all this.

No. I feel sorry for the victims.

No member of their cossetted social circles is ever likely to be subjected to similar abuse. And no doubt their repulsive father would be the first to cry foul if they were.

They are fine and dandy.

SpindleWhorl · 16/08/2021 17:26

And Flowers solidarity from me here too.

I think CarolineMN did a sterling job on this thread (I rather imagine things went on behind the scenes) because the victim blaming has declined dramatically, and a good discussion about matters in the news has been allowed.

Thanks to all who reported.

Maireas · 16/08/2021 17:27

@MarieIVanArkleStinks - excellent post about the daughters, and my thoughts exactly.
How many times have i seen that?
Utterly ridiculous.

Maireas · 16/08/2021 17:28

It was hard going the other day, though, wasn't it? I thought they were never going to stop.

Roussette · 16/08/2021 17:41

I agree. It was incessant. Interestingly, there are some posters who are always on threads about Royals who are conspicuous by their absence.
Best way

SpindleWhorl · 16/08/2021 17:45

I mean, you and I haven't always agreed with each other on royal family threads, @Rousette, but we've always kept it civilised.

In fact you've given me food for thought. As has this dismal Andrew business.

Roussette · 16/08/2021 17:49

I appreciate that Spindle. No we haven't always agreed BUT we are capable of discussing and giving a different point of view.
I'm always learning that's for sure.

I am no Royalist by any stretch but oh dear me, I can quite understand why Charles and William are pissed off with PA. It doesn't matter what they do at the moment, this sorry state of affairs overshadows everything.

Blossomtoes · 16/08/2021 17:57

It’s going to cast a huge shadow over the Platinum Jubilee, that’s for sure.

Roussette · 16/08/2021 18:04

PA is not going to be present for it, certainly not in uniform.

I just feel that when the Queen goes, it's the end of an era. I'm not sure what will replace it

Maireas · 16/08/2021 18:23

There's no way Andrew will be visible at the Jubilee. Remember the diamond jubilee? He wasn't allowed on the balcony afterwards, even then. Charles was trying to show a future pared down monarchy. That was before this current fiasco.

Maireas · 16/08/2021 18:24

You're right, Roussette it'll be quite the end of an era when Lilibet goes.

Blossomtoes · 16/08/2021 18:43

It certainly will. Very few of us can remember a time when she wasn’t on the throne.

SpindleWhorl · 16/08/2021 18:57

Nearly 70 years. She's the only monarch I've ever known.

After she's gone I suspect loyalty to 'the crown' will haemorrhage rapidly and fatally, and there's nothing that Charles will be able to do to stem it. My DC's generation have nothing but cynicism for the monarchy and I think it's too late to present the 'slimmed down' version to the younger public (and many older ones).

OhGiveUp · 16/08/2021 19:09

I wouldn't imagine that the RF would want to be parading PA in public for a good few years yet. They will keep him out of view if they've any sense.
Agree with god knows how it's going to go for the RF when the Queen dies.
Also agree about the younger generation and their views on the monarchy, however most people were up in arms about Charles marrying Camilla, now everyone just accepts it, so maybe it will go the same way and most will have forgotten PA and his disgusting ways.
For the posters who have suffered sexual abuse / rape, please never stop speaking out. Shout the pathetic apologists down and stand tall. You have done NOTHING to be ashamed of. 🤗

Blossomtoes · 16/08/2021 19:10

There was still huge support for the monarchy across all age groups at the end of last year.

Exactly.

There was a survey done of 18-24 year olds. Only 31% want a Monarchy.

Time certainly makes a difference and now Camilla is accepted. But as for A, it all depends if he does lie low for good ... I have a feeling he won't do that in the future. For now yes... certainly whilst this case drags out, but I read today that he's quite cheerful and not worried. (No idea how true that is of course)
I imagine he thinks he is invincible

I hope they go from strength to strength. Some members of the Royal Family represent me much better than any current political leader. Our spokes people are Prince Charles, Princess Anne .... and Jeremy Clarkson.

Roussette · 16/08/2021 19:35

God help us if that's all we've got... Jeremy Clarkson and Prince Charles?

The RF aren't supposed to be spokespeople anyway. I thought they were meant to be a-political? When it suits them of course...

But it's not about you Roussette it's about farmers who've got no proper voice in the country. Andrew's appalling and I hope he gets his just desserts but quite frankly he's an irrelevance.
