Eating our 10-a-day thread

Breathmiller · 30/07/2021 10:37

I would like to try to start a project of getting my 10-a-day of fruit and veg in every day.

Anyone fancy joining me? I find groups on here of support so useful.

I know lentils and beans and chickpeas are part of it too so I will up them. I'm vegan so I'm hoping that should make things easier as I eat lentils as part of my diet anyway.

This thread is for everyone who would like to focus on 'eating the rainbow' as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Or anyone who does this already who has any hints and tips?

I'm struggling right now with too much trash and not enough forethought. It was always going to happen though and I've just got to balance things with veg preparation.
It's not time consuming really, I just have to remember to do it!

Spent today cuddling my best friend’s baby, put me in a good mood!

  1. OJ
  2. Falafel and hummus
  3. Satsumas
4 and 5 Veggie chilli (celery, onion, pepper, black beans, kidney beans)
KrispyKale · 20/12/2021 21:42

Okay today's tally is:
Blueberries
Pear
Mixed salad and coleslaw
Carrot
Onion, kale
Part portion of Mincemeat again 😉

Right, I'm going to keep trying. I'm hoping it will help my digestion in the end! Inspired by your salads for lunch I've made this today. Romain lettuce, spinach and pea shoots, tomatoes and jar roasted peppers.

Looks like a lovely fresh salad.

Yesterday

  1. Mushrooms
  2. Tomatoes
  3. & 4. Lentil dhal
  4. Artichoke

Was eating out yesterday as it was my birthday. The artichokes were supposed to be Jerusalem artichokes but I was served normal ones. I don’t mind either but they are in no way similar. Also had gherkins 😄!

KrispyKale · 21/12/2021 22:15

No connection between the two except they are both parts of plants! How strange.
Today has been a rather random day's eating.
I've managed for this thread:
1 Carrot
2 satsuma, blueberries
3 green bean, kale, onion
4 raisins
5 pear
Which is ok. The rest wasn't very nutrition packed however.😂

Wildernesstips · 22/12/2021 21:58

Yesterday

  1. Tomatoes/smashed avocado
  2. Mincemeat
  3. Carrots
  4. Broccoli

Today

  1. Satsuma
  2. Mushroom
  3. Tomatoes
  4. Mincemeat
  5. Apple

Plus, probably half a portion in a Chinese takeaway, however it feels disingenuous to count it somehow.

A mixture of losing a day to a bad reaction to my booster and then running around like a ur arsed fly (to make up for lost day) has meant both my f&v intake has been low and not had time to post.

Yesterday, perhaps not quite all full portions but...

  1. Cherries
  2. Avocado
  3. Tomatoes
  4. Peas
  5. Green juice

Merry Christmas! Just as BreathMiller said, this was my list for today:

Brussel sprouts
Parsnips
Red cabbage
Carrots
Peas

However I would probably say that was only really 4 portions worth. The French themed meal sounds good.

Ooof, I’ve not been eating very well the past few days and my stomach feels horrible for it! Haven’t really noticed before as I suppose it seemed more normal

Whatdidyousaid · 26/12/2021 19:31

Ooh following this thread. My aim for next year is to be healthier - hoping to get more exercise and eat healthier. This thread will be great for tips and motivation.

Breathmiller · 26/12/2021 19:55
