It's a rainy Sunday and I'm surrounded by mountains of washing ! Looking at pictures coming out of Rome of Kittys amazing wedding to her rich gorgeous fiancé and feeling a tad envious Envy

OP posts:

@LordOfTheThings

It's hard to imagine that any father would be thrilled if their daughter marries someone 5 years older than he is himself.
Yup. He sounds like he was an arsehole to his first wife, kitty's mother, so it's not like my heart is bleeding for him. But its another generation of dysfunction on the spencer side. The third? Harry talks about intergenerational trauma and its not just running through the royal family.

@ChristmasShearwater

A thread about the age gap got pulled last night Grin

Where are the photos, OP?

I know! That was my thread. I was surprised. All i said was something bland like wdyt her parents think of their dd marrying somebody older than her father. So just a question!
Brefugee · 26/07/2021 08:24

Kate's dress was exquisite.

I thought it was OK. But it hadn't been fitted properly around the bust (maybe she lost more weight after the final fitting?) UT woukd have been picked up on Sweubg Bee for thatvGrin

Diana's dress was... Vile and very much of it's time. But again it would lose marks at design College for the poor choice of fabric ginmven how it looked when she arrived at the Cathedral.

Princess Anne's dress, with the Bishop sleeves, in the 70s was also very much of the decade - but it was elegant and doesn't look silly in the way Diana's did.

Also agree Fergie and daughters displayed amazingly good taste in the wedding dress department.

OliverBabish · 26/07/2021 08:42

It all looks gorgeous, naturally

gogohm · 26/07/2021 08:46

People of certain social elites only mix with others in that circle so it's no surprise they marry very wealthy people. It's an age gap but it works for some ...

MsTSwift · 26/07/2021 09:08

Yes I used to do work for the super rich they all marry each other - bad luck for gold diggers!

MsTSwift · 26/07/2021 09:09

I was ogling the setting god how I would love to be going to Italy this summer

lovescats3 · 26/07/2021 09:35

Remember Mick Jagger said his marriage to Jerry Hall was invalid as it took place abroad to avoid giving her money- also nice behaviour in front of their kids

Pandora64 · 26/07/2021 09:45

Goodness, she’s so beautiful. It surely must be easy to be happy, looking like that, if I ever had a bad day I’d just glance in the nearest mirror and my own face would cheer me up. Especially if framed by expensive jewellery. Grin. She reminds me of Sophie Dahl a bit.

I’m with you OP. I wish an elderly, rich billionaire would fall in love with me! Mind you he’d have to be blind, of course.

Nanalisa60 · 26/07/2021 09:52

She look so beautiful in her wedding dress, but I really would not want to marry someone twice my age.

BeenAsFarAsMercyAndGrand · 26/07/2021 10:06

Maybe she doesn’t want to have kids and be part of a ‘young family’. Perhaps she rather fancies a life jet setting the world with a man she loves rather than going to ‘rhyme time’

Given the quote below from that article about the wedding, it sounds as though she very much does want children. Her children will be pretty much guaranteed to lose their father fairly young though.

Earlier this year, on the topic of the future, she told Town & Country magazine: "I just look forward to a really happy home life; a happy marriage and happy children."

He's 62, he could have at least 30 years plus with top rate health care at his fingertips.
He's hardly Bernie Ecclestone, fathering a baby at 89.

VladmirsPoutine · 26/07/2021 15:28

When people are saying this is all about business and deals, can someone explain how because isn't she a 'lady' and wealthy in her own right anyway? I understand he's a billionaire so that's a whole different kettle of fish but surely if she's good on her own what's the worth in marrying someone older than your dad? Confused

Is it because a billion is the next goal after you're a millionare?

There are a lot of landed families that are struggling now simply because… well, you need actual money to maintain a certain life style. She is not inheriting the estate either.
VladmirsPoutine · 26/07/2021 15:56

@Wheretobuy Thanks! I suppose I naively assumed she's worth a bit anyway. Tis true the money to afford that life has to come from somewhere. In fact it reminds me of one Kate's friends can't remember her name but she's similarly married to someone twice her age and I remember thinking 'but why!!'

Gosh I feel sad for a baby with a 89 year old dad. Don’t people think of others in this situation? Is this right for the child to grow up not knowing both parents? This is not ageism in case any woke type snowflakes kick off as it’s a genuine concern about not being selfish with extreme short termism with a challenging future prospect. Money can buy most things but not replace your parents!

I bet Kitty’s hoping he doesn’t.

I know Wink It must have been reported and MNHQ are very quick to delete threads these days. I've never known so many deletion threads in my decade and a half on here.

Naughty Blossomtoes!

Panickingpavlova · 26/07/2021 17:03

I guess it comes down to what people find attractive in someone, personally I've never lusted after muscles or a wash board.. It's always been the actual person.

Apparently her relationship with her dad is cooled after his latest marriage? Maybe she is looking for a father figure as well, who knows.

He's not unattractive is he! Wealthy, cultured, interesting... Who knows.

I was just about to post the same!
doadeer · 26/07/2021 17:21

Yuk.

I'll stick with my gorgeous young DH thanks even if he isn't a billionaire.

If they have kids he is going to be 70 when they are still young children

ChristmasShearwater · 26/07/2021 17:35

It's not his being 62 that's the issue. 60+ men can be attractive and most won't need carers within the next decade even though a section of MN is OBSESSED with the notion.

The issue is the 32 year age gap.

Panickingpavlova · 26/07/2021 17:40

I don't know think the age gap is an issue when she's 30 and has a very broad background I bet she's more living in that tome than most of us will ever do, split parents, different continents, etc etc
