Where's somewhere you've visited but wouldn't want to go back to?

Positive and negative!

I went to Las Vegas, glad I went, but no desire to return! :)

Would never return to Warwick Castle. It's quite over rated...and not much even happened there, it just looks the part! :)

I've also been to parts of Croatia friends rave about it I was underwhelmed I wouldn't rush back.

I loved New Orleans and Vegas, but not sure I'd go back, maybe when my son is older. The food in New Orleans especially is amazing!! They are both party cities and can't really party with toddler!

Another vote for the Beamish museum, and for the Eden project noth massive rip offs.
Sachsenhausen concentration camp near Berlin. Very interesting, but not a fun visit. Everyone should visit a concentration camp though, upsetting as it is.

Hen2018 · 22/07/2021 13:11

Redditch

Telford

Middlesbrough

Cardiff, which surprised me.

Aghhh Warwick Castle USED to be amazing before they made it very catered for children (I guess they had to!) but the actual dungeons were so eerie and the ghost tower was great and had a gruesome tale-I used to read the visitors guide over and over as kid/young teen. It's definitely not as good now.

I was really underwhelmed by New York, I think i had built it up in my head for years and It was so hot and smelly!

LastSummerHere · 22/07/2021 13:13

Oh...and Medjugorje in Bosnia Herzegovina. Used to believe (as a young naive child) that Mary was really appearing there. Begged my mum to let me go on a school trip wven though he had little money. Hated every second and it became very obvious to me that it was/is nothing but a sick hoax....and it's STILL going on forty years after it started.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 22/07/2021 13:13

Barcelona.

HarebrightCedarmoon · 22/07/2021 13:14

No rush to go back to Blackpool, Lytham, Southport, Rhyl, Llandudno, Prestatyn, Colwyn Bay or Skegness. Nothing wrong with any of them per se, but they are all quite far away from where I live now and there are better places which are much closer. Or nicer ones further away which are worth the effort to get to.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 22/07/2021 13:14

I agree completely, but if going to the obvious choice of Auschwitz, please take a tip and go round on your own by visiting early, rather than with a guide

I made this mistake, and such is the rush that there's little time to look at anything, hardly any chance to pause and no chance at all to reflect
Don't worry about not getting enough info either - the boards in each room are excellent, or you can always take your own guidebook

Tiddlywinkly · 22/07/2021 13:15

Interesting thread.

I personally love Bath, Rome, Brighton, Paris, New York, Manchester etc (people have listed).

I hate Naples (a complete dive, but good for historic sites and decent pizza).

Paris

bringincrazyback · 22/07/2021 13:16

I always find it entertaining on these threads that so many people think they have a comprehensive knowledge of Blackpool from one short trip there. It's a mixed bag just like many other seaside towns.

CrouchEndTiger12 · 22/07/2021 13:16

Brussels and Barcelona

Utterly underwhelming

Faircastle · 22/07/2021 13:17

Jakarta

Maybe parts of it are wonderful, just not the parts I saw.

@gardeninggirl68

Peppa pig world!! Horrible, tacky, shabby and just stressful
Did you not go into the rest of Paulton's Park? I think it's the nicest, best value and least stressful theme park of them all and we went loads when DDs were younger. Even the Peppa Pig World bit isn't anywhere near the stress levels of bigger theme parks, which are like an outer ring of hell.

I’m liking that we’re now getting entire continents 😂 that people wouldn’t return to

JassyRadlett · 22/07/2021 13:19

Yosemite. Glad I went, spectacular views but I wouldn’t go back - it was a bit too touristy and catering to a very specific type of tourist, though we were in the main area which probably contributed. DH and I went on a couple of decent but not crazily strenuous walks and most people we encountered thought we were either mad or very intrepid.

HR313 · 22/07/2021 13:20

Glasgow - would never visit again, we stopped on the way through on our way to Loch Lomond (which was lovely). Even the trolleys in Lidl had to be chained to the checkout to stop you from running off with it! Florence in Italy, absolutely filthy and smelt hideous in the hot weather.

Asia
That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever read. An entire CONTINENT? FFS
janj2301 · 22/07/2021 13:20

I loved Japan, the only country I'd love to emigrate to

The whole continent?!

All I can say is I was surprised at the lack of any green, trees or grass

Been 3 times, but barely remember the first two visits
