Where's somewhere you've visited but wouldn't want to go back to?

Positive and negative!

I went to Las Vegas, glad I went, but no desire to return! :)

Would never return to Warwick Castle. It's quite over rated...and not much even happened there, it just looks the part! :)

Athens, hot sweaty shit hole full of feral cats
New York, just don't get the hype

Justcashnosweets · 22/07/2021 19:58

New York. It was awful.

thisisnotmyllama · 22/07/2021 19:59

Gibraltar - like England in the 1970s, very weird. The only thing to do there is go up the cable car and the day I went it was closed.

Sydney, or maybe Australia generally although wouldn’t be fair to say that when I’ve only been to Sydney & Melbourne. For a country that prides itself on being laid back and cool, it struck me as a deeply conservative, rule-driven place and I didn’t like it. I’m glad I went but wouldn’t go back. Everything is insanely expensive as well.

Tokyo - another ‘glad I went but glad it’s over’ place. Hard to find anywhere to eat or find your way around because nothing is in English (compared with China where most signs, menus etc are bilingual). Too ‘concrete jungle’, and I’m a city girl by nature but it was just too much city even for me.

In the UK - Liverpool and Manchester. Just didn’t like the vibe and the weather always seems terrible! (Obviously I know it isn’t really, but every time I’ve been either of these places it’s either chucked it down or snowed, even in spring or autumn!)

Bulgaria. Went to several parts, went skiing in Bansko and to the capital Sofia. Then went on a beach holiday to sunny beach. Hates Sofia and Sunny Beach was awful.

IdblowJonSnow · 22/07/2021 20:04

Malta. And Morocco.

Dizzybintess · 22/07/2021 20:05

Aberdare!

Bellablahhole · 22/07/2021 20:09

New York. I hated it.

SueSaid · 22/07/2021 20:10

Dubai. Not a posh holiday I was desperate for, I was actually working in Saudi so it was a quick and cheapish escape every 3 months. Just awful. Full of fake egotistical folk treating their maids like shite.

EleanorOlephantisjustfine · 22/07/2021 20:11

Eden Project. Biggest pile of crap ever. Five hours of my life I’ll never get back.

Dublin. Went with family when I was 17 and someone tried to snatch my mum's handbag before a drunk man threw up on my little sister's leg whilst she was sitting on a bench.

Went back 3 years later with uni friends but should never have given it a second chance - I was mugged on the first night and my best friend was sexually assaulted two nights later. Even the police were unfriendly when we reported it.

Never, ever again. I'm sure the rest of Ireland is beautiful but I'll never go, I'm afraid.

@Tay1980 - 10 minutes from Bath to Harrogate?! Wow, what do you drive?

I personally wouldn't go back to most of the bits of America I've managed to visit, and I absolutely wouldn't ever go back to Warrington or Southampton unless someone offered me a million quid a minute.

Animum2 · 22/07/2021 20:31

Brussels in a day trip, very boring

Listener2021 · 22/07/2021 20:32

Venice.

Orphlids · 22/07/2021 20:33

Market Drayton. In my early twenties, I had to stay the night there after attending a nearby wedding. I had a room booked at a pub. I arrived late at night to discover the pub also doubled up as the village nightclub. As I walked in, the music came to a sudden halt and everyone turned to stare at me. Everyone watched me silently as I made my way through the parting crowd to the bar to collect my key. In my memory, I was the only person in the room over five foot, but I think that’s just my mind embellishing things. I don’t know why they bothered giving me a key. I went up to my room to discover the door had been kicked off its hinges.

name6785 · 22/07/2021 20:35

Can truly say I've never been somewhere I wouldn't go back to again. Not saying I'd actively plan and pay to go back to every place I've been, but there isn't anywhere I'd deliberately avoid. And I've been to lots of the places listed here. I'm not especially snobby though and realise that one experience of one area of a place doesn't epitomise the entire city/country.

Bucharest (some beautiful parts but just didn't feel at ease)
Sofia (ditto)

Coastal deprivations a national issue.

That’s the one I went to. Grubby accommodation, grubby pool, grubby changing rooms. Crappy food choices. Nothing to do apart from ridiculous over priced ‘activities’. I actually lived in the countryside at the time and we had to go for a weekend in ‘fake countryside’ with people wearing walking boots around a holiday camp.
Alannawhorideslikeaman · 22/07/2021 20:40

@Arsebucket

Rome.

Instantly hated it.

Shock I'd move there in a flash. Been there 8 times and counting.
EmmalineC · 22/07/2021 20:45

Loathsome place, thank goodness I was only on a stopover.
