Passport renewal

Anyone renewed a child’s passport recently? I had three weeks in my head as typical turnaround.
Just gone online to do it and it’s saying 10 weeks!

Stupidly I had missed any press saying it would be taking longer. I did mine a year ago and got it back in a week.

Any current turnaround times?

Hi all, another eagerly awaited child’s passport renewal here! This is my timeline:

Submitted online renewal: 13/7/21

Sent old passport SD: 14/7/21

Had notification to say old passport received: 17/7/21

Online application history said “application being processed” : 19/7/21

Then nothing, since then! (Despite me checking it 7 times a day) 🥴😂🤦🏼‍♀️

DS was due to fly to Barbados with his Dad on the 29th! They have friends out there for 3 weeks so I’m hoping and praying it will arrive in time to still give them 7-10 days there with them, even if it’s for the latter part of the holiday!

I’ve chatted to someone on the passport office online chat and my DS’ Dad rang them, but even the process of cancelling current application would take 3 weeks they said! Then we’d have to re-apply for a fast-track, so we left it and we’re just playing the waiting game now. Like so many of you by the sounds of it....!!!

Hope those waiting all get them very soon, any timescale updates are much appreciated as this post has been really useful.

Anyone got more recent dates for processed and received?

@Summerbreeze4 I don’t remember when it came but i think it was Wednesday.

I'm another anxiously awaiting an online child renewal:

Application submitted 10th July
Identity confirmed 14th July
Old passport received 20th July

Status is "We've received your old passport"

I'm so stressed as we're due to fly 18th August

Our timeline:
Applied 11th July.
Identify confirmed 12th July
Received old passport 16th July
Approved passport 27th
Received 29th ish (we were away so about then I think).

Sorry to bump this thread but did any of you waiting receive yours?

I sent my daughters 3 weeks ago and still no joy. I received the confirmation email very quickly that it had arrived.

@FiloPasty was it a new application or a renewal?

A lot of people are posting on the uk passport office twitter page, you can private msg on there and they will get back to queries apparently. Although a lot of people posting on the main twitter feed asking re timings are being told it's not possible to answer that and the sheer amount of queries clarifies they are inundated. Kicking myself I didn't do it sooner, it's been 3 weeks since I submitted a child online renewal now and 2 weeks since they said the application is being processed

Just had a text saying our child renewal has been approved

I had a text first thing this morning saying it’s been approved and gone to the printers so thank goodness. I was starting to worry.

When did you apply? Was it online? Have you had any updates previous to this?
I’m just wondering if the approved bit is then followed by them sending the passport only I've only had notifications saying they received my old passport then on the online progress it just says “being processed”. Is that the stage you were at prior to receiving the “approved” text?

Yes now it says that it’s been posted

Applied 7th July
Documents received 15th july
Approved and sent 27th July (2 separate messages)
Arrived 28th July

Had text notifications on each date (apart from arrival).

Just in case others are still waiting, thought I’d share my update as today I FINALLY got an update saying my application has been approved, then one a couple of hours later saying it had been posted 😅
I submitted my application on 13th July! So by the time it arrives it will basically have been a month exactly. For those who haven’t read my previous post/s, it was an online child renewal.

I applied 18th June. They received my documents on 22nd June and I'm still waiting
