Passport renewal

Anyone renewed a child’s passport recently? I had three weeks in my head as typical turnaround.
Just gone online to do it and it’s saying 10 weeks!

Stupidly I had missed any press saying it would be taking longer. I did mine a year ago and got it back in a week.

Any current turnaround times?

I needed to do two as I'd had it on the to-do list (but not done!) for months. Did it online normal service on 5th July and the applications have been approved and passports hopefully arriving in the next day or so.

OP, one of the passports arrived over the weekend (teenager and we were away so I didn't know it had come in) and the other is due imminently but I suspect it could be tight for you if you're leaving on Thursday. Will keep everything crossed for you.

Fingers crossed - after approval mine took 3 days to arrive as it was approved, then dispatched the next day and then delivery was 2 days after that. Might be ok if you get approval today thought! 🤞🏻

Me again - our second one showed as approved early on Friday morning then showed as having been sent out later that morning and arrived 30 mins ago. Good luck.

I checked initially on the "track your application" page but I got email and text updates when the application was approved and when they'd sent it. Can you check whether the counter-signatory (if you need one) has done their bit? I managed to get my friend's email address wrong initially!

Actually, if you did a paper application, the bit about them checking with the counter-signatory might not be relevant.

Hi I’m in the same situation with my daughters passport we are also due to fly this coming Sunday my other daughters passport was back within a week at the end of may I sent ny oldest daughters passport of last Wednesday got notified it had been received on the Friday been phoning all day today to see if it can be speeded up everyone I’ve spoke to has told me different I’m praying it’s back in time x

I did 3 last month.

Mine was a name change, DC1 was a child passport renewal and DC2 was a first child passport.

They were all back within 10 days. I was really impressed with the application, digital photo upload and email to the counter-signatory. It was very slick.

Then I had to send 3 lots of documents to 3 different offices. There was a question over one set being lost as it took twice as long as the others, but it arrived in the end. The text updates are fab for knowing where you are in the process.

Ours were returned in 10 days from posting to recieving.

I’ve just checked my text messages after mentioning it in my post. Application received 10th of June, passport received 21st June.

Just emailed my friend.
Worried about 10 week wait. we are due to go to Portugal in 8 weeks, beginning of October.

So frustrating @TheBuggerlugs I hope it turns up at the last minute.

I’ve had no update since they said they’ve received our old passport last Thursday I think it was.
