Just marvelling at my soda stream. We used to buy SO much sparkling water the amount of plastic was dreadful. I'm so glad I bought it! has really made life better.

Also my quartz worktops.... was a splurge but bloody hell my kitchen is a beautiful place to be now. I can't stop looking at them!

£49 for a jacket in 1992. It's still going strong and I wear it loads.
Who made the jacket? X
Trumpetpants · 05/07/2021 21:43

Fit Flop shoes, I've got arthritis in my feet and can't wear closed in shoes as feet misshapen and swollen. But these mules are blissful, like wearing slippers. Bit pricey but so worth it, and only other option was hospital made shoes :(

Holothane · 05/07/2021 21:47

My 65 inch tv, my iPad and my tempur pillow love it.

Driving lessons. It took me ages to pass, I spent thousands, but it was still worth it. Even sitting in traffic, I just look at the miserable faces of those herded on buses and am glad I am in my own space and am so glad I persevered with the lessons.

Supersimkin2 · 05/07/2021 22:09

Cat treats.

House.
Rented for many years and never felt secure.
Kicked out with one months notice with children and the LL knowing we had no alternative accomodation.
Hated landlords inspecting and raising rent, we were treated like dirt most of the time.
Now we own the freehold and it is an immense weight off our shoulders.

Laser eye surgery (15 years ago and I’ve still got perfect vision)
Driving lessons / test (18 years ago)

They’re my top 2 decisions of all time.

Cotton bedding, don't know how I managed before.

DaphneDeloresMoorhead · 05/07/2021 22:20

Really lovely garden furniture, pool and the deck the DH put up. It's been a wonderful addition to our home

What was your bedding made out of before?

Electrolysis on my full-on PCOS lady beard that I’ve had since I was 17. Tried everything else - plucking, shaving wax, cream, laser - it always grew back, got worse the older I got, and if I’m honest, had such a bad effect on my self-esteem I didn’t date for 25 years, didn’t get married, or have kids, because I just couldn’t let a man get physically close enough to me to see it or feel it.

Bit the bullet a year before I was due to go to Nepal for a trekking holiday when I realised I wouldn’t even have access to a daily wash, never mind leaning over a sink or shaving it in the shower. Managed to find a fab place to do it locally to me, and four years later I only have to go for top ups every couple of months. Now I barely think about it, had the confidence to try internet dating, and met a lovely fella a year ago at the ripe old age of 48.

A one way ticket to France when I was 64. And the rest is a whole other story.

A fantastic nail system called Sistaco. It’s a base and top coat system. After applying and curing the base you rub on some coloured mineral powder , add the top coat and cure again. It gives the look and longevity of a salon shellac finish. It only takes half an hour every couple of weeks and it strengthens your nails. It’s easy to remove too. No scraping or drilling.

The initial outlay is a lot. A starter kit with the lamp top and bottom coats, remover and 6 coloured powders is £100. But that set will do over 100 full manicures so it’s good value. The only problem is that the colours are so lovely (metallics snd glitters as well as classics) that it’s tempting to order more snd more.

It’s such a pleasure to rub the powder over the cured base and see perfect, jewel like colour appear and know it will last a week or two without any chops or peeling.

Oh my goodness - Dysons suck up small children?? I had no idea they were so powerful.
Can you release them later? Like, at bedtime?

Sorry to deliberately misunderstand your post……..😂😂😂

Best money EVER? The tray with cup holder that fits over my walker. The day I got home after having my stroke, I managed to make coffee and fix myself a bowl of cereal! I was so excited until I realized I had no way to get it to my chair to eat it! Had to call my neighbor to bring my prepared food to me. It was such a blow, to be at a dead stop over something like that. Now, I'm pretty self-sufficient again!

Perfectlystill · 05/07/2021 22:58

DoveOfPiss · 05/07/2021 23:12

Driving lessons in 1984/85 - passing my test was still the best thing I've ever done

The money I paid the RSPCA for my first cat in 1989, he was with me for 19 years through thick and thin and saw 3 of my 4 children. I was 6 months pregnant with the 4th when he died Sad

2 years later, the £65 I spent on 2 tiny kittens who I regretted for 6 months as they destroyed the house, but now I couldn't imagine being without the daft pair lol

The money I owe for my uni degree that I achieved at 52 which has enabled me to change career into something I'm passionate about Smile the work makes me so happy but the debt scares me

Gingerkittykat · 05/07/2021 23:14

A 1 year old car instead of the old bangers I had before. I've barely spent a penny in maintenance in 5 years and it's far more fuel efficient.

A lot of money on a pedigree ragdoll kitten. I've loved my moggies but wanted a raggie for years and she is adorable.

Therapy, I was told I was too unstable to have talk therapy on the NHS and seeing a private therapist has been lifechanging.

a1poshpaws · 05/07/2021 23:19

Insurance for my dogs: one has racked up a small fortune in life-term vet bills this year alone, and my Kindle - immerses me in fantasy worlds, far away from real life which is often pretty stressful just now.
