Posting here for traffic as well as on the money board

I'm in a bit of a bind this month due to some unexpected things- next month is predicted to be much easier. I could do with a couple of hundred of pounds this month to tide me over. I have no relatives or friends who can help and am in the process of joining clickerworker/starting a second job
Please can anyone advise of the best and easiest place to get a payday loan it's been a headache trying to look for one today

If your credit rating is poor Drafty and Safetynetcredit offer a line of credit (kind of like an overdraft) but obviously with a very high interest rate. They're a better option than a payday loan though, especially if you can pay them back asap.

LawnFever · 28/06/2021 20:36
@titchy the last few months the most ridiculous things have cropped up literally putting me on my arse financially

However thank you so much those who suggested a credit union- I had heard of them but had no idea what they were for before today. There is one that is available for members of my union to join and it looks fantastic
But none of those financial pressures are happening right now, you can manage until Friday, you don’t need a few hundred quid in your bank ‘just in case’.

Any money you borrow now will push you back next month, what do you actually need to spend it on? I often have virtually 0 in my account just before payday, it’s the norm for lots of people I’m sure.

MonicaGellerBing · 28/06/2021 20:37

I have £4 in my bank till Friday payday OP. You just make do

Garraty47 · 28/06/2021 20:39

Sell your dirty knickers on eBay. There's a market for it!

EmmaGrundyForPM · 28/06/2021 20:41

OP I'm another person who can't understand why you need £200 "just in case" for the next 4 days. You have food, your bills are paid, and you'll get paid on Friday.

I've got a healthy amount of money in the bank but doubt I'll spend any money between now and Saturday as we've got food in the house, and there's nothing we need. I certainly wouldn't take out a payday loan for a "just in case".

Bluntness100 · 28/06/2021 20:42

Don’t borrow money if you don’t need it op. Wait and see if something comes up, it’s already Monday night, you’ve enough food and get paid Friday.

Ninkanink · 28/06/2021 20:50

Borrow at point of need, if you absolutely have to.

Otherwise you are just perpetuating the vicious cycle.

Friday is only a few days away, you have food and a small buffer in the bank.

@GameSetMatch

Some random guy called at my house and offered to weed the garden for £50 I bit his hand off, please try something like this before going down the pay day loan alley!

Can you offer spring cleans? A whole house including oven should get you £150.

I've got a bridge in London I'd like to sell you if you buy from randoms at the door.....
Imnothereforthedrama · 28/06/2021 20:52

I used to work with someone who have no money till pay day ( matter of days ) then would go and borrow off people so she could get a takeaway or taxi instead of the bus home .
Is that what may crop up op ?

Whybot · 28/06/2021 20:54

Mumsnet advice to start with .
Local church may have debt counselling

cabbageking · 28/06/2021 21:00

If you work best place is always to approach work for a sub.

Stay away from pay day loans

beigebrownblue · 28/06/2021 21:05

Yes i have read the full text thanks.
Well done again to Op for coming clean.

People in financial difficulties don't need judgements. It doesn't help.

She is facing her issues. Good on her.

selflove · 28/06/2021 21:06

Not one person has actually recommended the best place to get a payday loan, so I'll do that 😂

Obviously the usual disclaimer of "don't do it unless it's urgent", but if it's urgent, I use "lending stream". I have appalling credit rating (not surprising), and they still let me have loans. I think the interest rate is something like 1300% or something sickening, but if you're desperate for money and have nowhere to turn, then it's good to know there's an option.

Realistically tips like "become a delivery driver for Uber eats" aren't going to help people who need money NOW and probably can't afford petrol/a car/a bike etc.

PyongyangKipperbang · 28/06/2021 21:08

I have been there, in fact am there about now! Also get paid on Friday but.....we have food and just enough fuel to get me to work and back. 50 quid would take the pressure off, I am not sure why you would think that £200 in a payday loan would help when a) are you sure you need that much just to get to friday? and b) you will pay almost twice the amount back leaving you back in shit street next month (and yes, have done this too so I do know what I am talking about, it took me a good year or so to get back on a even keel after taking out a £400 loan one month).

I agree that right now you dont need the money, you are just worried that you dont have any. So if anything does crop up in the next 3 days (Monday is over, Friday your money will be paid in a couple of hours max after midnight, so really its just Tues, Weds, Thurs that is likely to be an issue) then you rethink then.

I do understand the fear of no money, I really do. But thats what led me down the hellish rabbit hole that is the payday loan. PLEASE dont do this to yourself.

Both your posts are complete nonsense. Op has said nothing to explain why she needs the money, or to indicate that she's "facing her issues". Your comprehension skills need serious work.

There is a good reason for that because pay day loans are a terrible idea . People are trying to say really do you actually think borrowing is a good idea . The fact the op has said she can’t borrow off anyone and doesn’t have a overdraft with her bank smacks of financial shit . Payday loan would be my absolute last resort and only then if it was a desperate situation. Desperate is my car has broken down and can’t afford repairs or no food/ electricity / bailiff at my door .
Ozanj · 28/06/2021 21:18

Banks are no longer allowed to charge overdraft fees. While this has made authorised overdrafts stupidly expensive now, it has significantly reduced the cost of unauthorised overdrafts. So my advice is just go to an ATM and take out as much cash as your bank allows.

Ozanj · 28/06/2021 21:18

It would still be cheaper than a payday loan

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 28/06/2021 21:23

@BunnyRuddington

Have you had a look to see if there's a Credit Union near to you. Much cheaper to deal with them.
This ^^

I hardly think the ATM would allow you to withdraw more than your current balance?
Ozanj · 28/06/2021 21:30

@GreyhoundG1rl - yes it would. All banks let their customers with full bank accounts (ie not basic accounts) go overdrawn slightly without permission.

What a ridiculous idea, apart from the fact the ATM won’t give you more than us in your bank if you go over an agreed overdraft it’ll affect your credit rating & my bank do still charge for an overdraft facility
Cowbells · 28/06/2021 21:36

Never get a payday loan for peace of mind in case anything crops up. The interest rates will make you poorer and far more stressed than you are right now. If something crops up, try and delay paying for it until after you have been paid. Or ask your employer for a small advance to cover it.

I too have read the full thread and still cannot work out why the £200 is needed.
What did op come clean on?

Can you explain because I can’t understand it.
There is no financial difficulties. Food in the cupboard, £10 in the bank, all bills paid and getting paid on Friday.

The only issue seems to be wanting to borrow £200 to sit in her bank till Friday

What are you reading that the rest of us are missing.

Oh, I hadn't realised that.
I still think though, given that that's an option - she should wait for one of these unforeseen "events" to actually happen first 😬
