Posting here for traffic as well as on the money board

I'm in a bit of a bind this month due to some unexpected things- next month is predicted to be much easier. I could do with a couple of hundred of pounds this month to tide me over. I have no relatives or friends who can help and am in the process of joining clickerworker/starting a second job
Please can anyone advise of the best and easiest place to get a payday loan it's been a headache trying to look for one today

I've been in your position many times. Wait it out if you can. You've got food in. You've got an emergency tenner. I'm sorry, it's really shit and makes you anxious I know.

Eviethyme · 28/06/2021 18:38

I'm also confused why your trying to get money if you have food and get paid on Friday :S sounds like your wanting a handout from here...

Anything else that crops up will either use that £10 or have to wait til Friday surely... I've got food but only £4 in my account and get paid on Friday, I'm not making a thread about it sorry I'm just confused

The credit union, as someone else upthread has suggested.

Have a look here and put your postcode in to find your nearest one:
www.findyourcreditunion.co.uk/

They are set up for exactly the sort of thing you are describing.

nongnangning · 28/06/2021 18:41

Good luck

This is good advice. CUs are great for exactly this sort of thing. Brilliant for small loans - recently I got one to pay for prescription glasses I needed. They encourage a savings habit - however small - and won't lend to you beyond your means to repay.
Kona84 · 28/06/2021 18:50

If you have a car or a bike sign up to delivery/ Uber eats/ just eat and do deliveries. My brother does it and can earn about £100 a day if not more.

Kona84 · 28/06/2021 18:52

Payday loans will show on credit file and they charge you so much interest you need another pay day loan next payday cycle of debt begins

Janaih · 28/06/2021 18:55

Are you on universal credit? You should be able to get an advance if so.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 28/06/2021 18:55

you have food?
you have just a few days until pay day.
do you have friends/relatives?

dont get into further debt with a pay day loan, imo

AbsolutelyPatsy · 28/06/2021 18:57

you need a couple of hundred pounds in case something crops up?
can you elaborate?

Minfilia · 28/06/2021 18:57

As PPs have pointed out, it’s only four days until you get paid, so anything “cropping up” can wait, seeing as you’ve got food in there can’t be anything else that urgent surely?

Pay day loans are horrific and should be avoided at all cost!

SorrySoldOut · 28/06/2021 18:58

why is mumsnet telling us not to give more financially or emotionally than we can afford or spare?

are we supposed to have a whip round?

MyShoelaceIsUndone · 28/06/2021 18:58

I’ve been where you are and I cancelled DD for gas and electricity to free up one months money. They add the cost if this month to the yearly overall cost so adds up to a couple of pounds extra per month when I reapply to DD the next month

Ohdoleavemealone · 28/06/2021 18:59

It doesn't sound like you actually need anything so I would arrange an overdraft for "just in case" and hope you don't need it.

Seesawmummadaw · 28/06/2021 19:00

What will you need between now and Friday?

AbsolutelyPatsy · 28/06/2021 19:00

it is a simple warning @SorrySoldOut

Because there was a time trolls frequently posted in this manner and some MN users would send them money. It is a kind way of saying OP might be a troll and to be careful.
GameSetMatch · 28/06/2021 19:08

Some random guy called at my house and offered to weed the garden for £50 I bit his hand off, please try something like this before going down the pay day loan alley!

Can you offer spring cleans? A whole house including oven should get you £150.

Hai2012 · 28/06/2021 19:13

I have £5, don't get paid until Thursday, but we have food, gas, electric, so we will just manage and hope that nothing comes up. I know it feels shit, and it's making me anxious, but it's just a few days.

MouseholeCat · 28/06/2021 19:15

Absolutely do not use a payday loan as a just in case, you'll screw yourself over for years. You have food and you only need to wait out 3.5 days.

The biggest thing you need to watch for is any scheduled payments coming out of your account between now and your next paycheck.

Log into your online banking and check any direct debits, but also scrutinise your statements to be sure that there aren't any subscriptions etc that might come out.

Sleeplessem · 28/06/2021 19:17

Who do you bank with OP? I’d really suggest getting in contact with the bank and asking for a temporary OD facility due to financial difficulties. A lot of highstreet banks offer pay monthly accounts with no charge on OD fees if you pay a monthly amount, they may be willing to offer you an interim solution rather than you go into debt.

Like many have said, I’d really caution against any type of payday loan, they are basically legal loan sharks and the interest rate is astronomical and further the debt cycle.

Orf1abc · 28/06/2021 19:19

You've got food and you've got spare money. Is there anything you need to buy in the next four days?

Payday loans are an absolute last resort, not something to use just in case.

ElsaMars · 28/06/2021 19:19

To the poster who said about a universal credit advance, you can't get one while you're on it, just before your first payment.

knittingaddict · 28/06/2021 19:19

They are warning not to do that actually. There have been begging posts on mn, although not so much these days. Generally mumsntters are more sceptical, having seen a few horrors in the past.

I'm not suggesting this is true in ops case.

Cakeofdoom · 28/06/2021 19:23

Delve down the back of the sofa, you'll probably find a few quid. Bag up any unused clothes and take to one of thise cash for clothes places, sell anything you aren't using on FB marketplace...people will buy litetally anything. Do anything except take out a PDL
