Also, a credit card can also help cashflow by pushing back some of your normal spending so it comes out of your bank account when the CC bill is paid, not when you make the purchase - obligatory disclaimer for the CC refuseniks, this is sensible use of a payment tool, not getting into debt or thinking it's free money.
Exactly!
I was forgetting to use my credit card as I'd had no need of it for a while but I also like to have one as an emergency backup in case of banking issues (which have occasionally happened in recent years - most recently those with monzo cards have been having issues with double charging and cards not working, but other banks have also had issues with cards not working at atm or pos in recent times)
It's a different company and different supporting company than my usual bank card - one is visa one is MasterCard
Lack of use meant the card expired before the expiry date and they sent me a new one I think this is a security measure.
So now I am using the credit card for any miscellaneous household purchases (like a new vacuum I purchased) and paying it off before any interest kicks in, it keeps it active and allows me to easily keep a record on my bank account (via payments to cc) of what I'm spending on household items (been having a sort out lately)
@Crinkle77 I never suggested a 0% credit card but as op is saying she'll have money in just a few days even a card with interest could be paid off before the interest kicks in if op is sensible, but having a back up to usual bank account is a good idea
Op hopefully you make it through to Friday ok
