Hi All

Sorry if this has been done to death! What are the rates for Tpro and how is the quality?

Thanks Smile

Chrissols · 25/07/2021 12:21

Hi @LMW1990 I get paid 0.011p per character with Tpro which works out around the same as Dict8 - I tend to stick with Dict8 though as I prefer the work - everyone has their own preference 😊

I think it depends on whether you do VR or type. My specialities are excellent quality. If you are interested email and ask their rates. They sent them me to look at when I enquired and asked if I would be happy to work at the rate stated. I wouldnt like to say otherwise in case they give out different rates to different people but im more than happy with what I get

LMW1990 · 25/07/2021 12:31

@Chrissols

Thanks! I don't currently type for dict8 only accuro (who I like and have no issues with, good audio and nice people). What kind of work is Tpro?

Chrissols · 25/07/2021 12:45

@LMW1990 you would definitely get paid more at Tpro than Accuro as it is a lot more straightforward and there is no faffing around saving and uploading (I used to work for Accuro and their pay rates are diabolocal - have recently been asked to type for them again and their pay is still diabolical) - also, dict8 is a very simple system with no saving and uploading and the rates are much better than Accuro.

Gally123 · 25/07/2021 13:04

@LMW1990 - the rate for VR with TPro is less than the one @Chrissols mentioned and is the only rate they pay for new transcribers. Higher rates no longer apply. That said, the dictation is (mostly) clear, (mostly) loud and (mostly) free from background noise and easier than most DICT8 dictations to type. However, it is not infallible so drug names etc do need to be checked esp as there are some oddities on their spellcheck system which are incorrect. Their checkers are so much nicer than DICT8 etc.

LMW1990 · 25/07/2021 13:12

I didn't have a very good experience in applying for dict8 to be honest. Despite being an experienced medical secretary they managed to make me feel wholly inadequate and in the end I just gave up. This was about three years ago mind. I know that accuro pay less, but for me it has been worth it for the better experience. Plus I have increased my fee over time and I still receive plenty of work (in fact I get contacted frequently to see if I can do more). I have no experience of Tpro at all.

Chrissols · 25/07/2021 13:36

@LMW1990 sadly Dict8 have a habit of making people feel inadequate and that does not stop once you start working with them......but definitely go for Tpro, the work is very quick and easy so the potential for good earnings is there. They are definitely recruiting at present.

LMW1990 · 25/07/2021 13:39

@Chrissols I'll definitely give it a look. What is the pay arrangement for Tpro? I'm put off by the cheque situation with dict8

Chrissols · 25/07/2021 13:41

@LMW1990 Tpro pay straight into your bank on the same day every month. They pay in euros but it is converted by your bank so it is very straight forward. A very easy company to work for, and no one has a problem when it comes to the self assessment (which was a worry of mine at first with them being based in Ireland).

OP posts:
carosel2 · 25/07/2021 14:41

@LMW1990 - l too worked for Accuro who are constantly bombarding with emails stating medical busy at moment. I did ask if they were prepared to up the 50p audio and my reply was its gone down to 45p! Such a faff downloading, uploading etc, a poor system when the others are so straight forward you pick the letter, type it and send it back. However, I did find them very friendly.

LMW1990 · 25/07/2021 14:45

@carosel2 yes they do seem to be very busy lately! I think I just haven't had time to look at other options and Dict8 really put me off the last time. I have a couple of weeks where I will have time to apply and sort things out so I'll definitely give Tpro a try! Out of interest, in comparison to accuro what % increase would you say Tpro was?

carosel2 · 25/07/2021 15:35

@LMW1990 - Im on half of what Chrissols stated but It is VR dont forget and you can get through a letter twice as quick and more so in comparison. To me works out same as DICT8 rates. As for Accuro, I earned £2.50/3 an hour at times whereas with Tpro I can earn £8 to £10. Dict8 (if dictation good) I can earn £12 - £15. I think you really would see a difference in your bank.balance. Dont be put off DICT8 though it may be the specialities I do that are being bombarded with the rubbish dictation and if you get a good one youd earn so much more. You just have to try not let DICT8 feedback get to you its nothing personal, they dont know who you are when giving feedback (or supposed to not know!) and some of it can be helpful in the beginning, its just remembering their ways of doing things thats all. Apply to both I must say youd do a lot better with either one tban Accuro, they may be nice but "nice" diesnt pay bills. Tpro by the way are lovely! It must be the gentle Irish in them! Smile but they are really lovely people.

carosel2 · 25/07/2021 15:46

@LMW1990 - by the way when I said it works out same as Dict8 at Tpro, I meant because you can do more letters doing VR, even on the low rate with them, (which I am), you can get it to.work out roughly about the 8 pence per line like Dict8 pays because you are managing more work output. Hope this.makes sense and hope this helps.

Chrissols · 26/07/2021 14:17

@carosel2 I couldn't agree more about Accuro, their pay is ridiculous, well below minimum wage, I don't know how they get away with it

OP posts:
Gally123 · 26/07/2021 14:37

@carosel - Accuro will get away with paying pennies as long as people are prepared to work for pennies. Unfortunately some people are either unaware of other typing jobs or been working for them for so long they cannot see an alternative. The same with DICT8, we put up with it [the money, the poor dictation, the rude feedback] until an alternative comes along. Unfortunately, as happened a few months ago, they had their recruitment drive and took on new people, and so it continues.

Meha5a · 26/07/2021 19:07

Today I have had letters that have started off male turned into female and then back to male ???? WTF ???

Chrissols · 26/07/2021 20:06

@Meha5a that is so funny……..very intrigued as to what clinic you were typing for 😂😂

OP posts:
Meha5a · 27/07/2021 12:27

and some good old fashioned nonsensical feedback to put the icing right on top today 🤣🤣🤣 when really it should have been.

Dear .... you have made such mistake but, we do understand that at present due to the shit-show that is dictation we fully commend you on your valiant effort in deciphering 3/4 of the best out of a really bad five letters you were forced into choosing as your list was stagnant for over an hour, rendering you unable to earn in that time.

Chin up transcriber.

Gally123 · 27/07/2021 13:11

@Meha5a - I do hope that people who spoke to the DICT8 reps who phoned round actually had the courage to comment on the quality of dictation, and that DICT8 take notice, but I am not holding my breath. However, the fact that DICT8 phoned (not experienced this before and I have worked for them for about 8 years now) must mean they are having some sort of typist problems - people defecting on mass to Tpro perhaps?

Also, do they not realise that there comes a point when typists take no notice of their feedback as it does not reflect said quality. And as mentioned previously - what is to say the feedback is correct? It is just what the proofreader thinks, so they could be wrong. (And you could be correct!)

Chrissols · 27/07/2021 14:36

I feel a bit disappointed.......I never did get a phone call 😕

OP posts:
Gally123 · 27/07/2021 14:52

@Chrissols - there might still be time - with 5,000 employees (as someone mentioned) with two people phoning (as the woman I spoke to told me) it will take some time for them to contact everybody.

Chrissols · 27/07/2021 14:55

@Gally123 yes, you're right there. I'm not really bothered to tell the truth, at the end of the day I can't see it changing anything, can you?

OP posts:
Gally123 · 27/07/2021 15:02

@Chrissols - I don't know - it all depends on why they are doing it, as I said earlier, I have worked for them for about 8 years and never had such a phone call before, so something must have instigated it. But at the end of the day, it depends on whether the comments are beyond their control - pay rise? doubtful. Ask dictators to improve? The woman told me they already feedback to dictators adverse comments if they see fit, so probably not. But I really would like to know why they want to know what their typists think - however, I am sure they have a pretty good idea already. Perhaps to see if the comments mentioned here are the same thoughts for other typists not members of Mumsnet as we are a pretty small number of people.

Chrissols · 27/07/2021 15:27

@Gally123 it's a mystery. Can't see it ever being a pay rise, although they may start paying less to new transcribers. Very intriguing though.
