Hi all........

@Gally123 maybe all your posties have been pinged !!!

I really wish they would get a grip with the pay system I don't care about a Coutts cheque I care about the trees/environment and the speed of getting my hard earned money !!!! 😂😂

Gally123 · 21/07/2021 17:12

@Meha5a - no I have had some post, not sure about my sister but the problem could be in London. Yes, if I have earned the money I want it.

The woman I emailed last week did not turn a hair about replacing a missing cheque as if it is common place - I thought cancelling a cheque (as she has the first one) cost £7 a go - presumably they find all this cheaper than doing bank transfers.......

deewu · 21/07/2021 17:27

I have had two problems with cheques in the past, a long time ago I was sent the wrong persons cheque they must have changed systems and we had similar parts to our names but nowhere near identical, sent the old one back and still did not get the replacement until an email landed on the day James was on call. Informed it would be signed immediately and straight in the post. The second more recent one, probably over two years ago which never arrived, took ages and I had to keep chasing, they seemed to think it would just turn up. Just send an email every day until it arrives, I think it all depends who is on call.

Gally123 · 21/07/2021 17:42

@deewu - thanks - was going to email again as it has been another week, and last week she told me they waited a week before they took any action.

Meha5a · 21/07/2021 18:05

🙉🙉🙉 the dictation today - my poor ears are continually being insulted with crap letter after letter after letter 😱😱😱😱

carosel2 · 21/07/2021 22:51

@Gally123- that is dreadful! You had to wait yet another week!! Tpro forgot to pay me last month and when I enquired in two days after why it hadnt gone in they apologised profusely and transferred my money the same day with sincere apologies. There is no excuse for them. How bloody unprofessional!

danblack87 · 22/07/2021 22:31

@paula035: I have a Dell Laptop and a Lenova keyboard. I can't use laptop keyboards as they are too flat. My Lenova keyboard cost me nothing as my son-in-law gave it to me (brand new)!!

Gally123 · 23/07/2021 07:28

I still have no pay cheque from DICT8 ......now told to wait another week and let them know next Thursday if it has not arrived - soon it will be a whole month without money.

I mentioned about bank transfer and was told no, they do not do this and have no intention of doing it in the future. I am just thankful I have work - and money - with Tpro.

paula035 · 23/07/2021 08:30

@danblack87 Thanks for the advice Smile

Lovemydaxie · 23/07/2021 09:01

@Gally23 The only reason I can think of them not doing bank transfer is so they can hang onto the money for longer. What company pays by cheque these days? It's so old fashioned and now you're having to chase them for it because it's gone missing. A right pain!

Chrissols · 23/07/2021 09:17

@Gally123 have you told them you cannot survive without being paid? They don’t know you can so might be worth trying (you probs already have). I think I would have to start saying to them I was going to look into taking advice after all this time as they have absolutely no reason and no right to not pay you immediately, let alone make you wait another week…..I’m not sure they are legally allowed to keep saying ‘another week’

OP posts:
Gally123 · 23/07/2021 09:20

@Chrissols - the problem is I think the post and lack of post men working due to track and trace etc although my area seems okay it might be bad in London. The post office though are not concerned as they just keep saying cheques should be sent registered signed for (and not second class). I am just not going to type for them at the moment.

carosel2 · 23/07/2021 11:38

@Gally123 - that is absolutely disgusting regarding DICT8!! I agree with Chrissols, they have no right to keep saying another week, it doesn't take two minutes to write another cheque out and cancel the other ones. Tpro didn't pay me last month and they sent it immediately when they realised they had missed paying me and that was through bank transfer.

Gally123 · 23/07/2021 11:57

Thanks for the comments everyone. I think this highlights the business practice of DICT8 and contrasts with Tpro. No-one will be surprised if I do not type for DICT8 anymore, or not at the moment in any rate. By sending cheques in the post but not by a secure method - note they used to use first class but now have cut costs to second class - and then failing to address any problems and help out by using bank transfer they fail to take any responsibility. I bet if there was a postal strike they would still insist we post in our invoices and post our their cheques and refuse to use any digital methods - rather odd for a company that provides a digital service to hospitals. The compassionless side of the medicine.

Meha5a · 24/07/2021 09:16

@Gally123 I couldn't agree more. To hold onto this archaic method of payment is weird. The last time I got paid by cheque prior to DICT8 was in the 90s !!!! and spot on with the digital comment 😂😂. So much for their telephone calls (had mine the other day) seems that was a waste of time, they should have saved the phone bill and come on here they would have found all they needed to know for nothing. I have never worked for such a closed company before whereby those working outside the office environment are literally treated like the enemy.

Although I did get paid I feel I am coming to the end of my working time with DICT8. I have slogged all week for peanuts due to some truly appalling dictation. I have standards too and sending some of these letters off this week has made me cringe inwardly and for the first time I have started to worry about work in that messages about the mistakes in letters might not be picked up. I have consciously started picking basic letters out that should this happen will only result in a few missed appointments.

Gally123 · 24/07/2021 09:59

@Meha5a - I know what you mean about dictation errors not being picked up; so many dictators do not indicate when they change their minds. The easiest way is to say "sorry", a very few even say "correction" but many just soldier on. I hate it when they go back and repeat themselves thinking that indicates a change in mind, but the worse ones are those who say "or" as if that clearly indicates a change of mind or mistake in dictation, as "or" is used so many times anyway that I normally type as said ("patient denies rectal bleeding or rectal pain" etc). So many dictators now get confused over "left" and "right" it is a wonder that so many operations on limbs are carried out without an error. To make it worse, so many mistakes are put down to "administrative" or "typist" error. Several times I have typed letters where the dictator has said the previous letter needs to be corrected as the typist got it wrong and I feel like adding a comment that typists only type what is said and perhaps the dictator made the error.

I agree with you about having standards (hence my comments recently about language used). If you cannot take any pride in your work it is not worth doing.

paula035 · 24/07/2021 10:05

@Gally123 Sorry to read yours and everyone’s comments. At the end if the day we do it primarily to get paid! It’s appalling that you are having to go through this. I was going to get my new equipment today so I could start with DICT8 but worry about making an investment in equipment if you don’t get paid. Hope you get it sorted ASAP.

Gally123 · 24/07/2021 10:12

@paula035 - if you have a laptop I would stick with that awhile before getting a new one, headphones/earphones cost less than£5, a foot pedal is a must. Apply to Tpro as well - the application takes a while as lots of people apply but they are so busy they need help. They pay direct to bank accounts and invoices are emailed in, so no problems. This equipment can be used for various companies if you are lucky (with some companies the foot pedals do not always work with the software - Accuro are different).

Chrissols · 24/07/2021 10:19

@paula035 as @Gally123 has said, it is down to the post that the cheque hasn’t been received, although I do think Dict8 are being unfair in the amount of time before reissue of payment. On personal experience, I have never had a problem getting paid, the longest I have waited for my cheque after sending my invoice is a week, but with so many people self isolating at the moment the post is going to be hit and miss. I wouldn’t let it put you off starting though, you could always type for Tpro if you weren’t happy with Dict8 ⌨️🖥

@Chrissols @Gally123 Thanks for the advice Smile How do I apply for Tpro please?

Gally123 · 24/07/2021 13:29

@paula035 - apply to Tpro via their website, fill in the form, cannot remember if I sent a mini CV as well. They are based in Ireland but that is not a problem.

paula035 · 24/07/2021 14:36

@Gally123 Thank you Smile

Gally123 · 24/07/2021 17:30

Well everyone, I am glad to say the replacement cheque has arrived (postmarked 15 July). I have legged it to my sister's house to collect it and then up the Post office to send onto the bank. Phew! I hope that never happens again.....

paula035 · 25/07/2021 08:14

@Gally123 That’s good to hear Smile

carosel2 · 25/07/2021 11:12

@Gally123 - phew!! Thank goodness youve got it, I was sickened for you. Going back to comments re dictation, im just about sending every letter I type back with queries on. Surely
the proof reader only pick random ones out for checking but they must be missing so much. The secretary will know why they are being sent back as they themselves wanted rid because of the disgusting dictation... and yes I agree about the doctor who blames the typist for THEIR errors and the fact patients not getting the correct care through THEIR mistakes not ours. Dict8 need to get a grip now because their reputation will be going downhill. They need to speak with the Trusts and inform them that work can only be produced to a high standard if their own staff are doing their job correctly and will refuse and send back such incompetence, then surely the docs involved will get told and educated how to dictate correctly, its not rocket science. Perhaps the proofreaders should be used to send constructive criticism to the Trusts about certain doctors dictation. The doctors might listen if they are being told by their own superiors from their own Trust on how bad they are as it gives them a bad reputation. Dict8 must be losing money, they have to be because im certainly not typing for them like I used to and if this little forum are in the same mind then im sure hundreds of others out there are thinking and doing exactly the same i.e. looking for work elsewhere or indeed typing for other companies. Dict8 had such a good reputation. Its okay paying better rates than others but if the work offered is dire then its pointless as nothing can be earned. They will end up being a company to avoid working for like Accuro etc who pay peanuts. They will always have transcribers but at what quality. Its unbelievable that they ask for the world from a wannabe transcriber and wont take anyone on without such excellent quality standards with umpteen years of experience and then have the audacity to produce that shit they are sending out. Its an absolute insult! Come on Dict8 get back to how you used to be, someone we all admired for what you stood for. I used to feel really proud to say I worked for you because I know you wont take on anything less than the best so how about starting to show your loyality by looking out for the very people that have built up your business, "us the Transcriber". Without the excellent work we have produced over the years, you wouldnt have gained the accreditation you have.
