The staff Apparisials are another bone of contention that gets to me.. waste of time😱

danblack87 · 17/06/2021 09:32

HI all. just checking into see what I have missed!!

danblack87 · 17/06/2021 10:08

I agree with the comments I read about leaving NHS to WFH. The office politics, last minute changes, various Managers (always the same bunch) moving from one Specialty to another. I had some great Managers, some not so great. Back-biting and All that training for new systems and the yearly things you had to attend for Protocol just tiresome. The endless meetings that went nowhere and the typing backlog getting further and further behind and not to forget having to taking all the messages off each phone because no-one was in the office at such times as those 'Staff Meetings' --- made me angry and tired. I had some great times too but I'd rather get out of bed and start the day when I wish to rather than wasting an hour there and and hour back waiting for buses in the rain and snow. I miss my colleagues, I don't miss anything else.

How is everyone getting on? I've been really struggling with the amount of monotone dictation this week. Letter after letter all spoken in one dull tone - I can almost feel it sapping the life out of me!! Plus I've had to endure listening to a serial sniffer who seems to have gone all week without being able to find a single tissue on which to blow their nose!

danblack87 · 18/06/2021 16:36

@Poppy379: when the sun was out I took some time out this week, other than a few letters. But I have had a good day today - loads on for me but been at it all day SO now calling it quits, having dinner and watching the England Scotland match. Munching and sniffing is very irritating!!!

Poppy379 · 18/06/2021 16:53

Enjoy the Football @danblack87.

Cherryblossom114 · 18/06/2021 18:21

@Poppy379 had those feelings too thought it was because Im new to it. Was glad to pick up a french accent broke up the monotony.... cc becomes seysey ...
I swear one was on the runway with the plane taking off during his letters
Upwards and onwards...anyone into tennis ? Enjoy, good weekend all

Gally123 · 18/06/2021 19:23

@Poppy379 - I had one chap yesterday who half through through his letter suddenly gave one almighty sniff, you know the sort, with reverberating mucus....

Meha5a · 18/06/2021 21:32

😂😂😂@Poppy379 - you just described my day - what is wrong with these people dictating they sound like hostages. One person sounded so detached from reality today I thought she was on some sort of medication ??????

I need alcohol after this day to cheer myself up🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷

Have a good weekend everyone

danblack87 · 21/06/2021 11:09

Hi all, hope you all had a good weekend, despite the weather!!!

Chrissols · 21/06/2021 11:24

@danblack87 lovely weekend thank you - lovely weather here, although it's looking like we may get rain today

danblack87 · 21/06/2021 14:04

Oh my: today the dictation seems to be coming from as far away as Mars - the dictation is 'so far away muffled'!! I wish they would speak into the microphone .... otherwise??? I need a hearing test LOL Hmm

Gally123 · 21/06/2021 14:14

@danblack87 - no, I don't think there is anything wrong with your hearing, some dictators I fear are soooo laid back they do not need to speak into the handset, unless of course, they are very shy. The test on your hearing comes when a decent dictator speaks normally but as you have turned your volume up full you get a nasty shock....

danblack87 · 21/06/2021 14:23

@Gally123: My speaker is always on 100% - so when they do speak loud it is an 'insult' to the system ... that is why I don't wear ear buds!!!

Gally123 · 21/06/2021 16:11

just lost Tpro and cannot get the log in back- just says "Bad Gateway" - not sure if just me or if their computer woes continue.

Trouble - there is only total cr*p on Dict8 at the moment, shame it is raining so I cannot go outside.

Chrissols · 21/06/2021 16:31

@Gally123 I think it's at their add as I have just tried (not that I ever do anything on there) and got the same message, so will probs be back up and running soon 😊

OP posts:
Chrissols · 21/06/2021 16:32

their end.....predictive text......

OP posts:
Gally123 · 21/06/2021 16:38

@Chrissols - thanks for checking, I thought it would be them with their current problems and it went rather slow beforehand (but my laptop often has a go slow and I am looking to buy a new one) and then Tpro went unresponsive and I could not select an event to type on.

One of those days....

danblack87 · 21/06/2021 16:47

Oh fellows: not a good day all round it seems ... hope for better things tomorrow - I am tired. Having dinner and going bed.

ElleBee56 · 21/06/2021 17:06

Hi all, I thought I'd come on here just now to see if anyone had commented about not being able to get onto TPro this afternoon and am glad to see it's not just me. I haven't posted anything since the first thread and have been trying to catch up on what people are posting when I get chance (that's if I can keep my eyes open after listening to some God awful dictation - Dict8 and TPro - it's exhausting!) I've probably missed at least half of the comments on the second thread so really need to catch up on that! The tasks on Dict8 at the moment are so bad I've logged off and am not even going to attempt them. @Gally123Gally when you come across a sign off that you can't hear, which is often the case, do you check the Irish Medical Council Register? If I can hear the name but not the number I type the name in and it brings up the reg. number and vice versa. It's quite useful. I seem to spend far too much time googling things like GP addresses which some doctors dictate too fast and with Irish place names it's sometimes impossible to understand, not to mention conditions/drugs/investigations, etc, when I'm not used to the specialties I'm transcribing. Roll on next year when I get my state pension and I can cut down on some of the work I'm doing, not that I'll actually be able to stop completely.

Gally123 · 21/06/2021 17:32

@ElleBee56 - I don't generally have a problem with sign off as with the new templates that came in a month or so ago this is all given, in fact when I asked for a doctor's list when linked to a new hospital I was told I did not need one as the names were all at the bottom of the letter, and I pointed out I had actually wanted to know for a letter recipient. Even with VR I spend a lot of time checking names, addresses and drugs as sometimes the VR types total rubbish, or is very nearly correct, but I still need to check. Other times the VR is quite quick and not so stressful esp at the end of a long day, but it needs a lot of letters to mount out to earn decent money.

ElleBee56 · 21/06/2021 18:04

@Gally123 I agree about the number of letters you need to transcribe to earn a decent amount. I've spent 2 or 3 hours working sometimes and earned less than 10 euros, usually if the letter is a long one and the dictation is poor. I have no idea how anyone achieves the 1,000,000 characters they set! I'm still getting letters from different hospitals where GPs and sign offs aren't on the template letter and there are no previous letters to refer to. You're so right about some of the VR being total rubbish. I'd like to think it's keeping my brain active but I'm not so sure!

Gally123 · 21/06/2021 18:10

@ElleBee56 - keep at it, as well as the poor earning letters of two or three lines, I have managed some that now on occasion equates to over £8 an hour. On the downside one of the doctors often has four or five Ccs normally to their private consulting rooms and now I am keeping a list having googled the names and addresses once so I don't have to keep doing it. However the replacement text is great for names esp the Gaelic ones!

Gally123 · 21/06/2021 18:12

@ElleBee56 - PS - I am on about 876200 characters at the moment and another week to go so might make the 1,000,000 - but no bonus for VR....

carosel2 · 21/06/2021 22:14

Tpro ladies - I must have a different hospital (and I only have one hospital) as all my signing off is already put in. I dnt have to do anything other than correct the VR on letters and I can revert to old letters and get names and address from previous letters on system to look at (this is also good if you dont understand a medication or diagnosis, sometimes its not possible as there may be no other letters showing) and as they may be a letter addressed from a referral from the doctor you are typing back to. I also get names and addresses from internet. I can make same as Dict8 now with a bit of practic and I get my specialities I like from this hospital and quite happy. Perhaps the hospital here specialises in what im best at. I dont want other hospitals as im making enough from this one Tpro have given me. As for Dict8, shit dictation and Im just logging off too as its a piss take and cant be bothered even trying to fathom out their terrible efforts. I still believe some transcribers get the "cream" of dictation while others are offered the shite. I think I get the "cream" too but my account also gets bombarded with the shit so stops the "cream " coming in so the transcribers that only get the "cream" can crack on with the best dictation and thats a fact
