@danblack87 That's quite a challenge for you up ahead Dan, but I'm sure you be ok when it comes to it, at least you get to rest overnight and the break from the transcribing might be beneficial. I was given a hint to stay in the middle of the boat to reduce sea sickness by the way, if that helps, although with Covid around I'd personally prefer to stay on the deck.

@whitestar5: I will try to get in the middle of the ferry then ... I am double vaccinated, have had my flu jab and booster and will be wearing my thick scarf around my face at all times!!! Lateral flow test to be taken when I go next week and another later low test when I get back. I am nervous but it has to be done.

The one where I suggested she start a new thread regarding the positive aspects of DICT8, and maybe take her own advice and carryon typing if she felt a certain way.

@wfh21 nope, nothing to do with me. It was showing as removed before I’d even see it. Why would you think that of me? Seriously peeps, why is everyone so sceptical. I have got better things to be doing with my life then reporting messages on silly threads 😂

@KAnthony - Speaking to DICT8 about this thread and then DICT8 stating its just a handful of negative 20 or some people out of 5500, on here.... well congratulations because you are certainly one of the 20 plus! youve made enough comments yourself on here so far, so to me you are just as part of it as the rest of us on here. How did you get to know about this thread anyway Im intrigued as a newbie as its not something I knew about for years until a random comment came up on the net regarding pay with DICT8 as I would never have even known it existed. Your post of having been emailed praise and offered more specialities (without having knowledge or experience of) is brilliant, albeit odd from DICT8s perspective when theyve always intimated, particularly, to their clients that only qualified secretaries with years of experience in their specialties will only be allowed to do their work and thats why they boast the expertise of the transcribers they use and now you are saying they are offering two you know nothing about. Im not getting at you but sounds like DICT8 is dropping its standards. Im a bit wary of the way you portrayed your message in the manner you did as it comes across deliberately provocative, it was obviously put on to provoke people. Why you felt the need to do that is quite sad when most of us on here are all looking out for one another, just sharing problems and niggles that make us feel we are not alone when at times we just feel fed up with the crap some.of us get and as one said on here, we are qualified medical secretaries, we are a dying breed there arent many of us left, not the real old fashioned ones that had to earn their qualification. This job isnt for any secretary it is a specaility like no other, The medical terminology etc is like learning another language and the expertise of us all just seems to be taken for granted. So come on and share your good news its nice to read but what isnt nice are statements that seem to want to rub the noses in it who arent so lucky.

Wow such a long comment and so any answers needed.

1. I am NOT 1 of the 20 repetitive posters posting negatively about Dict8, let’s just clarify I have nothing, so far, but positive comments to share.
2. I came across this thread by googling pay with Dict8 to see if I could find any articles regarding how long my first pay check would take to arrive and then stunned across this piece of gold.
3. Maybe they are dropping standards, or maybe they can appreciate a good worker when they come across one (and as previously stated the other two specialties are not too far from my current one so it’s not going to be a huge difference (hope not jinxing it)).
4. I made the comment in the first place to make users aware it is not ‘impossible’ as previously made out on the thread to gain other specialties and also that when deserved they do actually give praise and not just negative emails. Hopefully anyone reading this hoping to join will not be put off by all the doom and gloom.
5. I don’t find sharing good news sad, I would be very pleased and happy for anyone who posted in the same position and it must be well deserved, what I do find sad however is that every single post I make and have made from the very beginning has been frowned upon, ridiculed, made out to be lies, judged, disbelieved and not picked. For ‘older’ generation as you call yourselves-that I find disturbing you feel the need to do that (to someone drastically younger may I add).

I too have had to train and earn my qualification of medical Secretary it isn’t something I fell into or was handed, not sure what point you was trying to make there. How this comes across is that everyone is OK to post their moans and concerns but what is not OK is to post how well you are doing or that you enjoy it and the company just in case someone takes offence? I don’t aim my comments at individuals but all I’ve had since being on here is abuse after abuse. My household spends it evening laughing the comments being made and your right, i am partly making comments now just to piss you all off because I for one am proud and too rightly giving myself a well deserved pat on the back. As the saying goes…..’F**k the haters’. Goodnight.

@carosel2 same could be said for all of you also, especially as you claim to already be ‘grown up’. When someone digs at you time and time again eventually you just think sod it, your going to moan at me regardless so I’ll actually give you something to moan at. I mean a lot of the comments have spoken volumes about you all as individuals, not any of whom I would associate with in my life, negative, sceptical, nasty, bullies really because that is, at the end of day, what it all boils down to. Keyboard warriors trying to gang up because you can’t bare to see or believe that someone is actually doing better. I pity you.
Anyway, as nice as this has been the last few months, I’ve had enough, I’ve proved my point you CAN succeed with Dict8 and it’s time for me to bow out back to my cheery, positive life instead of being dragged down by this doom and gloom. I'm sure we are all capable of it, but I personally don't see working obsessively for 60 + hours a week just to earn what I previously did before in half that time, as success. Our forebears fought for better conditions, but things seem to be slipping backwards.

KAnthonys initial enthusiasm and joy in discovering a potential new way of creating a new working life for herself that fits around her family (just as you state it fits around your lifestyle choices) was perceived as bragging rather than a ‘hey! This is fantastic! I can’t believe i can earn this much from home! Is this true for all of you??’ excitement and enthusiasm. This was met with a barrage of downers and negativity. Your comments do come across that if you have not achieved (for WHATEVER reason, none of which any other worker can be responsible for) or do not wish to achieve this by putting in the hours she probably does, it cannot be true or correct for anyone else, and my personal experience says it is. The mean-girl style pile ons have been embarrassing to watch, with snide comments and snigger-together vibes, and it is easy to see how it escalated and KAnthony retaliated strongly to that level of provocation. I say this as a grandmother myself with the life experience that provides. It may be wise, considering this thread is so easy to find when scoping out dict8, to consider how your comments appear to potential future customers. The tone of ‘we poor undervalued sweatshop workers’ (doing this voluntarily - again, there ARE other options out there … ) coupled with these style comments and random conspiracy theories do none of us who work with dict8 any favours and it would be ironic if it impacted on business continuity. If you genuinely want this thread to be a supportive, let off steam environment, I suggest you look back on recent weeks and assess if you’ve achieved that.

I'm actually just concerned that people are falling for the exploitation that is happening in many sectors and the propaganda that goes along with it.

Surely Whitestar that is for them to scope out and decide? Life’s lessons are generally best learned from our own life experience rather than other peoples’ as we are unlikely to get exact replication of experience, for a myriad of reasons.

And given that this form of work is what it is, I think it would be difficult to apply the term exploitation rather than considered and informed choice?

IMO said person came on here (as admitted) to provoke but has dished out some harsh criticism too.

Of course when you first start a job your employee/whomever is going to go easy on you while you learn the ropes, make mistakes etc (3 month trial period anyone ?) after which time you are treated like all the rest (in my experience). On a personal level in the past I have chosen this 3 month period to observe and learn and not make strong comment or join in office politics as in the past I have seen people jump right in from the get-go and it is never well received. IMO whilst said person was being positive she was also IMO being negative about others experience and disregarding their lived history with DICT8 just because they was doing great (which is great by the way) and maybe a little bit of humility might have endeared said person more to those on here.

I do hope my post has not offended anyone as I believe that freedom of speech is essential good or bad and instead of trying to cancel me maybe have a conversation with me first.
