Hi all........

OP posts:
Lovemydaxie · 03/12/2021 11:23

I've not had any 'well done' emails for ages. I don't think they are sending them anymore.

Whitestar5 · 03/12/2021 11:38

@Gally123 Hi Gally, I counted the characters and worked out how much they were worth as lines lol. Regarding lengthy messages to secretaries etc, I just don't think it's fair that we don't get paid for them, because in typing them we are providing a service that benefits the transcription company and the client, but at our own time and expense.

Gally123 · 03/12/2021 11:45

@Whitestar5 - as mentioned, I did email about this and also pointed out that other companies pay for such messages, but as ever it all fell on deaf ears. They will have to do something as they are losing their workers over suspect/harshly phrased feedback, poor pay against other companies etc.

@danblack87 - your CC patient feedback is amazing - I always give the name of the patient, and also address if has been dictated at the start of the letter - normal secretarial procedure! Who is doing the proof reading? The cleaner?

danblack87 · 03/12/2021 12:00

@Gally123: I have no idea but if I know the patient is a Mr/Miss/Ms/Mrs I thought it was standard procedure to type the name rather than "Patient" - so informal.

danblack87 · 03/12/2021 12:02

@Gally123: Obviously we don't all get the same proof reader nor same feedback ?standardisation in order??!!

Whitestar5 · 03/12/2021 12:04

@Gally123 Thanks for confirming that other companies pay transcribers for those messages, I wondered if they did.

carosel2 · 03/12/2021 13:06

No well done email either....., but yet again all morning, from 8.30 typing one hospital with two to three crap foreign accents coming in all morning for same clinic. I am absolutely sick of it, there must be more than me transcribing these clinics out there and with the amount that will be doing the same speciality it should be freeing the work for other hospitals to come in with the same speciality at least but it isn't. They are definitely shifting this workload to certain transcribers, they don't have to pick out individual letters to give to people, but they know this hospital is new and dire and to me are adding this hospital to certain accounts so when it does comes in it transfers to the selected accounts, I am utterly convinced of it.

Whitestar5 · 03/12/2021 14:13

Originally I remember being instructed to type the choice of either 'GP' or General Practitioner' even if the dictator only said 'GP', but since then it has changed to typing 'General Practitioner' only if said in full. When you think about it, this saves them money, as there are less characters in 'GP' and most dictators say it in the abbreviated form, 'GP', throughout the letter. @carosel Sorry you're having a soul destroying day, I hope it's getting better.

carosel2 · 03/12/2021 16:11

@whitestar - thank you. As someone posted on here if you arent happy find something else but thats easy to say when youve a choice unfortunately my personal circumstances dnt allow me to.do anything else but work from home. Retired from NHS and trust me I would go.back part time if I could and earn a heck of a lot more in 3 days than the long hours I have to put in and the days I have no choice but to type late evenings to try and make up some.money doesnt help when all you want to do is sit and chill for the evening. Thats why its nice to moan and share, its nice to know you arent on your own we cant chat to the person in the office like we used to when we went out to work and air our gripes, this job can be a very lonely one and forums like this are good for the transcribers who have it tough.

danblack87 · 03/12/2021 16:12

@Whitestar5: I have been typing 'GP' as General Practitioner for years but feedback was some weeks/months ago!! Nobody told me it had changed. GRRRRRrrrrr.

danblack87 · 03/12/2021 16:16

@Carousel2: I agree with you regarding not looking elsewhere which I said the other day. I do not have the choice to work part-time or full-time elsewhere so there it is; yes, there are people like yourselves whom I can download to ... chatting in the office is not an option!! I get fed up of moaning to myself LOL

Whitestar5 · 03/12/2021 16:50

@Carousel2 I understand where you are coming from and I don't think it will be long before those who say to leave if you're not happy and claim to be earning lots soon understand too, when it hits them just how many hours they are having to put in to earn it.

danblack87 · 03/12/2021 17:10

Unfortunately for some leaving is not option. I earn usually earn enough to make ends meet ... I don't really ask for more than that - I am too old. As my Nan would say "make hay whilst the sun shines and be happy" We've all earned lots previously SO, you know, sometimes things change. I am happy doing what I am doing and I love having my grandchild and days out whilst I am still able to do that. I have no wish to burn myself out at this late stage in my life - done, that been there got the T-shirt. More earnings would be good though!!!

carosel2 · 03/12/2021 17:55

Here here guys!!👍👍😊

danblack87 · 03/12/2021 18:12

danblack87 · 03/12/2021 19:09

danblack87 · 03/12/2021 19:33

@Carousel2: chink, chink!! Blush

Gally123 · 04/12/2021 12:49

And another thing that really annoys me about DICT8 (as well as the poor dictations, the rude and sometimes strange feedback, and the low pay is their complete refusal to allow emailed invoices, esp with COVID and lockdowns, and places like libraries where people without printers can get invoices printed. The requirements for "employment" with DICT8 centred around a laptop with the ability to use their software, and a person who has previously worked as a medical secretary in a hospital for a certain number of years who could provide a suitable reference. There was never any mention of a printer as a requirement for working for them. I wonder if a hand written invoice would be accepted? Something else Tpro comes out top on - together with direct to bank payment.

Cherryblossom114 · 04/12/2021 12:56

Morning all...Diary has arrived❄🤗

danblack87 · 04/12/2021 13:31

@Gally123: There is no requirement for a printer with Dict8 ... I ran out of ink on my printer ages back (only the black) but none of the other colours will print without a black ink tank in place!!. I asked if I could send in a written invoice and was told it would be accepted ... I have been doing that here and then when my ink runs dry and they have all bee accepted. An invoice is an invoice in any form. I would certainly prefer to E-mail by invoice and be paid by BACS though.

danblack87 · 04/12/2021 13:33

@Cherryblossom114: No post for me today.

Gally123 · 04/12/2021 13:42

@danblack87 - that's great, thanks!

danblack87 · 04/12/2021 13:51

@Gally123: Yes, I was relieved too - I type it to file and then copy handwritten when necessary ... ink is expensive and money is not always to hand. Yes we can offset cost of ink to Tax but you don't get the benefits of that when you have to go overdrawn to do it!!! E-mailing an invoice would be much more preferable. Smile.
