Hi all........

OP posts:
ShanJG · 08/10/2021 13:47

Yes I am just typing a few letters here and there with Dict8 to remain active but I am so busy with TPro. The work never ends haha!

Cherryblossom114 · 08/10/2021 19:44

£1600 / £85 a day .... which speciality is this ..I want to swap

ShanJG · 08/10/2021 19:57

Which speciality is it you are typing? Would be good to know!

KAnthony · 08/10/2021 20:10

@Cherryblossom114 @ShanJG then you’d be stealing all my work 😂

ShanJG · 08/10/2021 20:20

Ha ha no not at all. I’m just curious because not a lot of people on here are making that type of money so just wondering what speciality has so much work with just the one speciality! I already have my hands full with T-Pro at the mo.

TiredbutHappee · 09/10/2021 12:42

Hello all. Pleased to find a thread to feel less isolated. I’ve just come back to Dict8 after a long break (worked for several years with them on and off previously). Same line rate I’m assuming... Currently going through the repeated feedback “advice” stage trying to remember how they like things done. Got some advice to type what has been said (gee thanks!). I’ve always rearranged sentences if I didn’t think they made grammatical sense or could be better laid out for the reader but will have to refrain. Seems to be tasks available when I’ve logged on. The re-found joy (not) of spending twice(+) as long on something due to poor dictation or someone going for the world’s fastest dictation record. Back to hoping someone else will take the first five tasks available that I can’t hear a clear sentence on! If I sound whingey and sarcastic, that sounds like me. Smile

Gally123 · 11/10/2021 12:34

@TiredbutHappee - welcome - nothing has really changed with DICT8, still same low rate of pay, still often confusing feedback. However, I do like not having to bother to make sense of the rubbish now we are told to type what is said, it is a bit quicker.

I had one of those days were my first task this morning the dictator gave patient details quite audibly, then sat back and mumbled the rest of the letter and I could not hear a thing. Then there were 0 tasks to type. Happy Monday.

carosel2 · 12/10/2021 21:18

Just catching up after being away @K.Anthony. You are very lucky getting so many tasks in the first month! They usually scrutinise every bit of work submitted in the early days too to make sure you adhere to their way of doing things, whats your feedback been like? Being able to remember every bit of detail of the formatting etc takes some coming to grips with. I have some busy specialities but earn roughly £350-(£500 on an excellent month) Do you check through your work before submitting?

KAnthony · 13/10/2021 10:05

@carosel2 yes I think I have been very lucky to begin with such a large workload. It took a week or so to get my brain and fingers around their way of doing things and the layouts, the feedback in the beginning was as expected i.e prompt to change the way it was laid out or doctors names I was unsure of-I just took notes of all these and keep them next to my PC to refer back to. Also, in the beginning I was changing the sentences to make them make more sense (as I did in the NHS) but apparently that’s a no go so know I just type as it comes!!

homeworkmum · 13/10/2021 12:46
@ShanJG thank you for replying, was wondering what others views on Dict8 were as it’s only my second month and was wondering if the workload would remain the same or increase/decrease. My first month I managed £1600 and for October I’m averaging £85 a day which I am more than pleased with and hoping the workload continues at the same amount.
@KAnthony I for one am really pleased you are getting plenty of tasks and managing a good amount of money a month. Please dont be put off from this group - on the whole it is a really good group but from time to time positive comments about DICT8 dont go down well (from personal experience) and before anyone jumps on - no I am not an employee of the company. I think some departments are just busier than others, mine went quiet for a bit but picking up now. Oh and nobody on here seems to share what department they type for :) I say go you, well done :)

KAnthony · 13/10/2021 13:13

@homeworkmum thank you so much! That’s brightened my day, I thought/ felt like I had done or said something wrong on here, seemed to be very negative responses. Still quite a large workload, less than last week but I’m quite happy with that and still well on the way for another good month! I did notice when reading back through the thread why no one had mentioned their specialities!

choice456 · 14/10/2021 10:01

@KAnthony, @homeworkmum
I am pleased to see an encouraging comment for you on here, I have watched this thread for a while and if I were a newbie, I am sure it would be easy to have doubts you had done the right thing. I can only speak from personal experience over providing my services to DICT8 (this is NOT an employee/employer relationship!) for nearly a decade now, and can assure you @KAnthony that the numbers you have achieved thus far have been - in my experience, the only one from which I can speak with authority and knowledge - achievable, sustainable and beyond that. I currently have a total of 4 Specialties (I have dropped some in the past) . Keep going, and good luck! Whilst you are typing at night somewhere in the country, likely I am too... flexibility is key. After over 20 years in the NHS I have never regretted this move. I wish you every success. And likewise - not an employee of DICT8 ( however much that is refuted purely on perception by others).

KAnthony · 14/10/2021 10:07

@choice456 thank you also for your lovely message. I suppose it can vary depending on specialty, how many hours put in and also speed and accuracy. I was very much looking at going back to the NHS when my daughter started school but if I can continue to achieve a full time wage doing this then I am more than happy! I don’t mind the odd slow day as it gives me change to catch up around the house and spend time with her and I’ll make it up when the work is there. I wish I had found this sooner! I’m glad to hear I am not the only late night keyboard basher 😂

Cherryblossom114 · 14/10/2021 11:42

Good morning everyone hope you are all well. I have a question..how does it work when you have more than one specialty? Do you get different login/passwords ?

Gally123 · 14/10/2021 11:54

@Cherryblossom114 - all the specialties appear in your task list, the same as if you just had the one specialty - so you might see a mix of 5 different tasks or still just 5 tasks from the same specialty, or 4+1 or 2+3 etc. Sometimes I go for weeks not seeing any tasks with one of my specialties.

Cherryblossom114 · 14/10/2021 13:04

@Gally123 Hi Gally123, Oh I see, thanks for the info. I was curious as to how it works. I might get ambitious and try my luck.. ask for another. 🤔

Gally123 · 14/10/2021 13:07

@Cherryblossom114 - they generally only let people increase their specialties after about three months. Alternatively, they often email round asking if people have any experience in areas where they need people.

Cherryblossom114 · 14/10/2021 20:05

@Gally123. Ok. Im coming up to my three months anniversary

Hickyjane · 15/10/2021 00:00

Hi all, just started working for DICT8 after making the decision to leave the NHS after many years. I’m enjoying it so far but have found the feedback a little disheartening and a bit contradictory at times.

carosel2 · 15/10/2021 00:03

@Cherryblossom114- no harm in asking, it seems to be picking up in my speciality at the moment depending on what speciality you are in.
By the way to all who have issues about the comments on this forum, it is an opinion from those who wish to comment their views. There is no right or wrong in what they choose to say providing it doesn't breach anything. Surely, if someone wants to air a negative on how they are feeling they should be allowed to do so. Just because some transcribers are having positivity with DICT8 (which is brilliant, and it is good to hear some are getting what they want) but some aren't, and this forum is for those too that aren't, so they don't feel isolated. For you who have the better experience just be mindful of those who don't and aren't getting it. It may be down to specialities but whatever, we are all entitled to express our opinion on what we feel, it isn't a criticism against any other trascribers but just how an individual feels about their experience at the moment in time

carosel2 · 15/10/2021 00:14

...And you may think the positive teanscribers are being witch hunted, of course they arent!! Other transcribers are just viewing their experiences thats all. We are all in the same boat trying to make a living. Its good to hear about other trascribers making it work, because it gives the rest of us hope that things may be changing in our specialities

flutterby18 · 15/10/2021 13:37

@Hickyjane - Hello and welcome to the forum. Glad you're enjoying working for Dict8. Please don''t be disheartened or put off by the feedback. We have all been there and when you are new you tend to get more negative feedback as they will be checking more of your letters.

Hold on in there as it does get better. We have all been there and got the t-shirt etc. I have worked for them for 9+ years and still get pulled up occasionally.

Have fun and don't take the feedback to heart. Tomorrow is another day Smile

Hickyjane · 15/10/2021 13:44

Thanks for your kind words. I have to say I'm loving the flexibility and enjoying the work generally Smile

KAnthony · 15/10/2021 20:59

Does anybody else have to force themselves to leave the office at night! I hate leaving tasks there waiting to be typed, but after typing 12 hours on and off today and seized fingers I am finally admitting defeat 😩

carosel2 · 16/10/2021 08:27

@K.Anthony - its easy to get carried away especially when you can see potential earnings but I set myself a limit now on what I need to earn each day to make ends meet and once that target is reached I leave it behind. If I have birthdays, special occasions, hols I need to buy/pay for I put in that extra effort (providing work is available that is) as I found in the good old days I was becoming a slave to my computer and nothing else got done. If things are good for you im sure there will be plenty the day after to continue. I must say, im getting a lot more tasks now just a shame the dictation is dire on a lot of them which slows down big time the money making. I work for Tpro and catch up with them at the weekend as there is always 100s of letters on there, its just the pay isnt as good otherwise I think id concentrate more on them and use DICT8 now and again as Tpro's dictation is very clear for me
