Hi all........

@Paula035: The rate of 0.08/line is the same for everyone. I have several Specialties but unless you get an e-mail inviting for openings in Specialities for which you can apply (which I believe goes to all transcribers regardless) then really you can't move forward in that arena. You can e-mail to request a Speciality and they will get back to you if there is room on that Specialty for an extra transcriptionist ... I think it depends on the amount of working going through at the time and whether people have left [this can be a little spurious as I believe many do not state 'I am leaving'] ... worth it try to drop an e-mail; I have 4 Specialties but have been trying to secure a further one for about 3/4 years!!! Good luck ... it does not hurt to ask Smile.

Good luck everyone. Yes DICT8 has paid 8 pence a line for over 10 years. I don't think it's going to change any time soon, unfortunately.

deewu · 15/09/2021 20:22

I got an extra Specialty this year for the first time (I had asked many times before) when they sent out an email as per @danblack87, I have been working for Dict8 for about 13 years now, I now have three but two of them are very closely related! Maybe you will have better luck than me.

Hello ladies - back from a short break away! Partly relaxing but partly not, as despite being a 4* Hilton Hotel the food was not very good and they were so short staffed - last night we had two waiters and one waitress who were serving in two dining rooms. A few other problems as well, it was nice to go away but in a way, nice to be home.

Sooo l had my training yesterday with T-Pro to get to see the system. Seems a bit more complex than Dict8. They seem like they have plenty of work though as she’s said there are thousands of letters that sit in the server. Excited to start working for them however I still need to get another training day with my Team Lead. Quite a lengthy process it has been but I’m sure it will be worth it with the amount of work they seem to have and they all seem lovely.

Gally123 · 17/09/2021 10:55

@ShanJG - it does seem more complicated to start with but if you are able to print off the examples of the letter templates for reference it helps until you become familiar with the letter types.

ShanJG · 17/09/2021 11:00

Thanks for the tip Gally. I had also asked them about invoicing On a 2 or 3 monthly basis rather than every month as it would mess with my benefits I get. They have said they prefer it to be each months but she is going to pass me on the email for the accounts so I will ask them. Dict8 allows me to do it as and when suits rather than monthly so fingers crossed.

@Chrissols - Hope you enjoyed your break. It's been really busy, daytimes, evenings and weekends (well for me anyway) so not had time to chat/moan Smile

danblack87 · 25/09/2021 13:01

@Flutterby18: It been the same for me for the past couple of weeks too Smile

Gally123 · 28/09/2021 18:24

I had a bit of a surprise today - I had no idea that the National Minimum wage had gone up to £8.91 an hour for adults - it must be about time that DICT8 put up their rates as I am not earning that much, maybe occasionally but not consistently. I do better on TPRo but just when I find a dictator that I can earn that much an hour and more, I get a message asking me to type another clinic with people who invariably hum and haw and change their mind (not to mention the chap whose VR text is total gobledegook).

danblack87 · 29/09/2021 09:19

@Gally123: I know what you mean about the minimum wage ... mine averages between £5 and £8/per hour (sometimes I can get over the £10/per hour but averaging out all told I guess I am earning between £6 and £8/hour!!

danblack87 · 29/09/2021 09:21

I am only just managing to earn £300-400/mth (that includes weekend working) Sad

Gally123 · 29/09/2021 09:35

@danblack87 - I image that most people must be earning about that. When you think that DICT8 has not raised their rate of pay in over eight years - it must have been good money in those days!!

ShanJG · 29/09/2021 11:17

Dan is that you working with Dict8 only or other companies? Also is that you working full time as a transcriber?

I am just about to start with T-Pro and I’m really hoping to make a lot more than that as I’m not making as much as I would like to with Dict8 at the moment!

danblack87 · 29/09/2021 11:34

@ShanJG: I only work for Dict8 and, yes, that is me pretty much 40 hrs a week!! About 3/4 years back I was making around £700 to £1100 a month Confused.

danblack87 · 29/09/2021 11:36

I don't know if I just imagine it BUT about three years ago or so the system was overhauled and since then the tasks seem a lot slower to type (perhaps that is just my imagination !!!) ... I think I am losing the plot some days. hahaha.

Gally123 · 29/09/2021 11:43

@danblack87 - no I think the tasks take longer to type because the quality of dictation has gone down.

danblack87 · 29/09/2021 11:51

@Gally123: There is that too + I used to get a lot tasks of multiple letters on one task which clearly reduced time spent doing header and footer on each new task where 'cut and paste/Next letter AND not collecting a new task (check/submit) ... = All reduces time. I could regularly type these sorts of tasks which would work out between £12 - £17/hr BONUS. All my tasks now seem to be pretty much one patient per task.

danblack87 · 29/09/2021 12:18

My last task: 20 Lines @ 0.08/line divided 14 mins = 0.11p (so if i DID 4 the same would that mean 0.44p/hr????????????????????????

danblack87 · 29/09/2021 12:19
Confused
danblack87 · 29/09/2021 12:21

NO re-think - It's £1.60 x 4 tasks the same = £6.40/hr

danblack87 · 29/09/2021 12:22

Oh GOD just ignore me ... I need a tea break LOL Blush
