Pay with Dict8 continued

Hi all........

@Lovemydaxie - Im always wary thats why I would never have forwarded on any details as they will have email addresses, names etc. She could be genuine but im sceptical about anyone who comes on a site like this out of the blue offering jobs to medical transcribers when there is and always has been a shortage of home work for the likes of us guys. A company like that could advertise on their site and get inundated with qualified people in all areas of transcribing, as Jan said was available not just medical. Anyway, I just hope the guys on here who did take up the offer is rewarded in some way and it is legitimate

I am sure transcriptum is legitimate (I hope so). Maybe there have been lots of questions and e-mails regarding more information so there is a backlog for response, Or Jan could be on holiday? I will wait to see, there is no urgency for me, I just like the idea of having a variety of work

@danblack87 - it makes little sense for Jan to have asked for applications immediately prior to going on holiday, more sense to wait until she returns.

Of course, emails could have gone into her spam folder hence the lack of replies but I would have thought if anyone had asked for emailed applications she would check her spam folder.

Another option is that Transcriptum while being a legitimate company for several years (name changed from Avonlea last year it appears) they may have been taken over by DICT8 or the two companies merged in some way. I remember there was a bit of a fuss a few years ago when DICT8 took over/merged with another company as some of the typists of the smaller company had previously left DICT8 over pay etc and were not happy to find themselves back there.

@Gally123: I admit it is all very strange - one would certainly check their Spam folder ... I do it everyday regardless. I'll e-mail again at the weekend perhaps to understand the delay in response . I hate chasing things, especially when 'the whole thing was put out there to recruit' ??!!

For those worried about 'Jan' not being a legit company I have checked on Companies House online (available to anyone) and it is indeed listed at Companies House as is Dict8 with all information freely available

Hi all, been away for a while so just catching up. I too contacted Jan and have to say I found her to be very professional, she sent me a test file and the IT chap contacted me in case of having any problems. I didn't go ahead and complete the test file, purely because I have been away, but I certainly did not get any bad feeling about them at all, in fact I found them to be professional, friendly and polite 😊

Hope it all works out well for all you ladies who have applied to Jan!
@Chrissols you have done well then to hear from then, fingers crossed you get some work from them

@carosel2 thanks, but have decided I am not going ahead, purely because I have plenty of work so wouldn’t be able to commit. If I hadn’t already agreed to go back to nhs part time I wouldn’t have hesitated as I have no reservations about it being legitimate 🙂

@Chrissols: Dare I ask what the commitment would be and the pay rate as I have still not heard?

@danblack87 sorry I didn't get the info, it did sound like there was plenty of work though....to be honest, I have work coming out of my ears so couldn't commit to any extra at the moment. I got a phone call out of the blue a few weeks ago from a lady asking if I had any availability so I am doing a bit for her, she pays 75p a minute which seems to be about average, goodness knows how she got my name but the work is great. Maybe give Jan another email, she maybe thought people on here didn't trust her with some of the things said, but from the emails etc I got from her I wouldn't have any doubts, it might be worth just dropping her another line 😀

@Gally123 it was lovely thank you, but not the holiday we already have planned as that is 15 October. We have just been to Spain as a last minute thing invited with friends. No idea yet if we will get to Turkey next month, depends if it turns Amber next week, but if not we will go somewhere. It's a nightmare isn't it at the moment with not knowing anything, and the hoops we have to jump through to go anywhere....the paperwork was quite stressful...but I feel more relaxed about doing it next month with it all still being fresh in my mind

Just seen the video that Dict8 sent a couple of weeks back - why was this?

@danblack87 - I read their terms and conditions and they said they do not follow any threads, but will only look if someone alerts them to certain posts and then they make the decision to remove, if they feel they have breached in any way, so looks like someone has reported her

Jan had replied to me also by email. She said my email had went into her junk folder. They were very professional and someone from her team sent me over the the type test. I didn’t go ahead with it however as it seemed as though it was steering away from a lot of medical work and more towards dictation I hadn’t really did before. I also start with T-Pro on Thursday once I have completed system training and as I’ve been told T-Pro have a lot of work so I didn’t want to have my hands too full. She said she would keep me in mind for the future if there was a lot of medical typing!

@ShanJG: I have had a reply from Transcriptum. There is variety of work in lots of areas but will be moving, hopefully, to more medical transcription work in the future. I will apply for a typing test shortly ... I am looking for the variety in work but, of course, am totally happy to do the medical alongside that which I already do. I forgot to ask the typist rates ... do you know ShanJG?

I didn’t get as far as the rates of pay. Hopefully it works out for you. I will keep her and the company in mind for future references if it doesn’t work out as well as I hope with T-Pro and Dict8.

The quality of dictation on DICT8 isn't getting any better is it, just worse.

@Whitestar5: The quality of Dict8 was diabolical yesterday - I typed just a handful ... I really was not in the mood. Today is going reasonably well, however; so far (hush my mouth)

Hi hope everybody is well Don’t know if we can discuss it or not but I was just wondering if DICT8 pay different per line after a period of time or what rate per line I should be on for a new relatively new starter. Also how long before you can apply to type for other specialities? Thank you have a good day everyone.

Hi Paula,

I have been with Dict8 around 2-3 months now. The rate of pay per line is the same for everyone at 8p per line. I have asked a couple of times regarding specialities being added on and they have said there is no guarantees they would do this but if they do it would be after a period of time (they never state how long) and once they can see you are typing good quality letters no mistakes etc.
