Hi all........

OP posts:
Gally123 · 11/08/2021 15:38

@homeworkmum - 30 mins! Mine phone call was probably 10 max! Perhaps they cut the questions short as they could guess my response from what I did say (re quality, sound, mumbling, background noise etc)

Chrissols · 11/08/2021 16:58

@homeworkmum I'm not unhappy at all that I haven't made the contact list. Seems that no one is feeling any better for it lol....

Flutterby18: I have found the experience of typing for Dict8 utterly destroyable the last week or two. Almost everything I pick up is garbage dictation: unintelligble, umm's r's and backtracking - gender in dictation changed from one sentence to another AND I do not know if the patient is a she/he because I haven't been able to decipher the name of the patient Angry Not to mention Notes, notes and notes/

danblack87 · 12/08/2021 15:56

@homeworkmum: My phone call was some 8 mins. You may have alienated more than a few on here re. your response. Sending e-mails is pointless. I think the best way to have tackled this survey would have been to send a Survey form to ALL - that could be printed and filled in and then returned by post (for anonymity). Hey, then they could have saved masses of money in phone calls and give us a pay rise!!! Just my opinion.

danblack87 · 12/08/2021 16:00

@Chrissols: I would not be too unhappy that you have not made the contact list yet ... after all they are not supposed to know who we are; therefore, you may be further down the list!!! Flowers

homeworkmum · 12/08/2021 16:07

@danblack87 am I not permitted an opinion? are you only permitted to comment in the negative? I get frustrated just like everyone else but I say it again - there are positives and negatives to DICT8 or Tpro or Accuro. Tpro still have not paid me - yes I am annoyed but it will get sorted. Accuro want me to work for buttons - I just wont do it. DICT8 - I get horrible tasks just like everyone else.

I like your suggestion about sending a survey - but guess what would happen, people would complain.
I do remote work to get away from office politics and I love it, I have no shame in that. If I have ruffled feathers by not toeing the antidict8 line - oh well que sera sera :)

danblack87 · 12/08/2021 16:07

@pebbledashery: It is certainly worth applying but you need to prove that you have done substantive medical secretarial work/audio for more than 5 years.

Gally123 · 12/08/2021 16:10

@danblack87 - yes they could have included a form for us to fill in with our pay cheques (mine arrived with no problems this month, BTW). Although even with supposed anonymous forms at the hospital I would always check for numbers or any other means of identification that could be held and would remove bar codes etc just to make sure. A form would have been quicker, saved the receptionists lots of stress and they would have been able to do other more important stuff, and we could have returned it with our next invoice.

Gally123 · 12/08/2021 16:16

@danblack87 - just realised my error! If you send a form back with your invoice it is not anonymous! But then neither were the phone calls.

danblack87 · 12/08/2021 16:20

@homeworkmum: I didn't say you weren't allowed an opinion whether it be in the positive or negative. Any comment is considered to be fair from anybody's 'point of view'. There are positives and negatives, as we all know. I may get annoyed at times re. feedback, etc but I am not grumpy at all. There is no line to be toed ...that is what I like about this forum BUT do be prepared if someone wishes to disagree. Sorry I offended you.

carosel2 · 12/08/2021 16:27

@homeworkmum - I assume you have contacted T-pro about your pay? I hadn't been paid this last month and I emailed them and they answered back straight away albeit a weekend and said I had been sent my money, that it must be my bank that hold it a little longer than they should. It was the weekend so I waited for my bank to release it, which they did on the Monday afternoon. I didn't get paid before and when I contacted them at that time, they was very apologetic and sent it through straight away. I'd contact them again and get them to sort it for you, as no one wants to work for nothing

danblack87 · 12/08/2021 16:34

@Gally123: you were still anonymous in the phone call stakes - everyone typing for Dict8 has a phone number listed ... rest assured; I hope, none of us use our own names on here!!!
A form received by E-mail can easily be printed minus bar codes and such!! Blush

carosel2 · 12/08/2021 16:37

@homeworkmum - as for being allowed an opinion of course you are allowed, we all have them, just some disagree at times, but that is what this forum is all about as long as it doesn't get personal. What is the point in joining something like this if we can't voice how we feel negative or positive. Not all feedback on here is bad, I think we have all had our moments and some still have with the problems some of us are encountering with the dictation and have done so for a long time now, which is very frustrating, but on the whole I think if the dictation could be sorted Dict8 would be the best by far to work with.

Gally123 · 12/08/2021 16:39

@danblack87 - I meant anonymous from DICT9 point of view - they phoned us so they know who we are and what we said. A form could be from any of the 5,000 contract workers.

carosel2 · 12/08/2021 16:42

@homeworkmum - oh and you certainly haven't alienated me Smile

danblack87 · 12/08/2021 16:46

@Gally123: I understand what you are saying and that is why I didn't mention when my phone call was. A survey form would have been much more appropriate, I guess.

flutterby18 · 12/08/2021 17:27

I actually enjoy working for Dict8 and have done for nearly 8 years but and this is a big but, when I cannot earn enough to live on as the dictation is so bad I think I am entitled to moan.

Over the past week I have had dictation on public transport (yes really), people slamming doors in the background so loud it nearly deafened me, people eating and burping, saxophones and pianos being played in the background. This is not on and it needs sorting.

Other than that I am quite happy with Dict8. I sometimes use this thread to let off steam as I do not have anyone sat next to me to do it to. I also appreciate how lucky I am to be self-employed, but I need to be able to actually work and pay the bills - at the moment this is not happening.

Gally123 · 12/08/2021 17:36

@flutterby18 - it is not just being able to let off steam that I like this forum but also it helps to know other people are in the same situation - re the feedback etc. I also have no one in the house to turn to, but if I did they would not be able to help, not doing the work and not knowing the situation. It is nice not to have the feeling of isolation that I had before I found this thread, being able to ask other people if they have had the same experience etc.

flutterby18 · 12/08/2021 17:44

@Gally123 - I totally agree with everything you have said - it is just so soul destroying when there are hundreds of letters waiting to be typed and you just cannot do them.

Hopefully it will be better next week.

Have a good evening everyone Smile

carosel2 · 12/08/2021 23:21

@danblack87 - going back to your commment to @homeworkmum "You may have alienated more than a few on here re. your response"
Im not happy with that, as you shouldnt be including others in your opinion. How do you know what any of us would think? Your opinion is yours, which is fine about what you feel about Dict8, but you shouldnt insinuate "others"are saying the same

Meha5a · 16/08/2021 18:56

Sad to see there seems to have been a long silence on the thread since the "not toeing the antidict8 line" comment ! seems to have caused a slight divide.

I wonder whether that was deliberate

Gally123 · 16/08/2021 20:47

@Meha5a - I think sometimes there are several days when no-one has anything particular to post, no moans or problems, just busy typing or doing other things. I must admit the "antidict8" comment passed me by at the time.

Today I have been distracted mainly by the fact that I was meant to have a parcel collection this morning that never happened and when I queried it I was told that I had turned the driver away when he arrived as I had not got the parcel ready!! Not the first time I have had ludicrous excuses for driver laziness - I live on a road that is often very busy but at 8.10am this morning, the time he should have been here, it was dead. I think he either got lost or just saw the road on the address and decided not to bother. Been rescheduled for Wednesday so I hope a more reliable driver....

flutterby18 · 16/08/2021 20:57

@Meha5a - It's not uncommon not to have comments on here for a few days. I think probably everyone is just busy and trying to get as much work done as they can (there is also a bank holiday approaching which possibly means no work on that day) - I like to try and get ahead of bank holidays if I can.

I personally don't think comments on here cause divides to be honest. We are all adults just trying to earn a living I guess, and everyone has their own opinion which is what the forum is for/about.

Happy typing everyone Smile
@Gally123 - The QR codes are for NHS COVID track and trace. When you enter a building ie hotel, restaurant etc you scan the code with the camera on the phone (after downloading the NHS track and trace app) and if yourself or anyone else who has been in the vicinity at the same time test positive you/they can be contacted.

I am in my 60s and find it very easy to use. I would think about it as it would be such a shame to miss your holiday again, as this could be the way things are for a very long time. I am also going by coach and will have to scan the QR code when I arrive at the hotel.
You don't need a camera phone for the QR codes, all should have seen address with identifier code that you can manually type into your browser if your phone doest have camera, or so can fill out the paper record held by the premises)

flutterby18 · 16/08/2021 21:15

@HalzTangz - You do need a phone camera to scan the QR codes. It's a lot easier to scan the QR code than type into your browser. I know that you can also give your name, address and phone number on paper etc.

Not sure why this is relevant so long after I posted this to be honest.
