Anyone else seen the news?? Another baby on the way, relationship on the rocks, or good old fashioned age gap love?

Her headdress looks a bit wonky in one picture but she is at a funny angle , not straight on.
He doesn't look much different from normal!
The musicians leaving number 10 in one photo look a bit miserable!

Leonardsgirl · 30/05/2021 10:29

I think they genuinely love each other. Good luck to them in their married life.

I'm no fan of either of them, but I wish them well on their marriage.

Blossomtoes · 30/05/2021 10:30

@Peregrina

Oh dear, the hypocrisy of it all. Carrie wearing pure virginal white and Johnson making vows to be faithful.
I know. I laughed when I saw the white frock and half a florist shop on her head. If Johnson thinks this is going to work as a distraction he’s utterly deluded.
CarolandDarryl · 30/05/2021 10:32

Aside from the buttonhole he just looks like he’s rolled out of bed for another day At Westminster

Oooh I get it! Apparently I know nothing! Didn't realise that the cathedral was catholic Grinhmm is a bit strange that was allowed then!

The look of people who have just sold their soul

AnneShirleysNewDress · 30/05/2021 10:36

If that's him looking happy in the photo I'd hate to see him miserable. He looks a bit bewildered to be honest.

SoupDragon · 30/05/2021 10:42

It doesn't condemn divorced people, it just doesn't let them remarry in church (normally) as the traditional view is that they are already married.

I was responding to another poster who used the word "condemned". My point was that they do prejudice against them like the do many other sections of humanity.

JinglingHellsBells · 30/05/2021 10:44

If you want any more proof that the Catholic church is bonkers to the core, their idea that a marriage in a Christian church doesn't count as marriage, (and therefore neither does a divorce) there you have it.

He was allowed to marry in a Catholic church as his two previous marriages were not in a Catholic church.

Quite how Carrie can say she is a catholic is beyond me, having broken almost all the main 'rules' of that religion.

Changechangychange · 30/05/2021 10:53

@Serpenta

There'll be a special mobile confessional made for him. Like one of those electric milkman floats. Which would lend a suitable air of Benny Hill-ishness to proceedings.
I was thinking he could just use a walk-in fridge
newnortherner111 · 30/05/2021 10:57

@DonkeysNotDisney any large scale wedding would have either been disrupted (even just someone with a few vuvuzelas, loud music or similar), or criticised for the cost of security.

52andblue · 30/05/2021 10:58

@nancy75

Can you get married in a Catholic Church on the third wedding?
Exactly. What a mockery it is. Two living previous wives. At least 6 children (some of whom from other women) And now the blessing of the 'highest' Catholic church in the land.

You or I would not be allowed such a blessing that's for sure.

thecatfromjapan · 30/05/2021 10:59

herecomestgesun: 'I wonder whether she might write a book about it?'

Doubt it.

She had a senior communications position in the Conservative Party. She's undoubtedly professional and ambitious - with a Comms/strategy future ahead of her.

Any forthcoming book will be photograph heavy and pretty Instagram-ish. Probably focusing on something charming and humanising.

Eg. Carrie's guide to healthy eating - based on her experience of managing a busy household in a small space and helping her busy, high-powered husband lose weight, through an innovative, low-fat diet.

itsgettingwierd · 30/05/2021 11:03

I actually like her dress and the head band. Quite hippy in style but pretty and comfortable.

Carrie looks completely in love

Boris looks like he's added a flower to a Covid briefing suit and is doing his level best again to be convincing!

I don't know her or about her but I do worry she's being dragged into something and will end up hurt.

ICanSmellSummerComing · 30/05/2021 11:08

She is a am extremely beautiful girl with a stunning figure, clearly intelligent and supports good causes, I know he is pm but I cannot see what she sees on him, very shallow I know and I'm not even a Boris hater but his past, who would trust him!

Peregrina · 30/05/2021 11:16

She's a grown woman, so if she chooses to marry the likes of Johnson, she presumably knows the risks involved. Maybe "I will altar him" will become "I will alter him", but I wouldn't be holding my breath.

Thewinterofdiscontent · 30/05/2021 11:18

I couldn’t care less either way. They’ll be fine with or without each other.

However I always look at the photos. You can see it in the eyes if it’s going to last. Boris doesn’t look convinced does he?

Sweetslumber · 30/05/2021 11:18

Telegraph: ‘Boris Johnson wedding: How did Prime Minister marry Carrie Symonds in a Catholic church?’

Well the the church have set a precedent there haven’t they? No more ‘You can’t get married here, you’re divorced’.

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/05/29/boris-wedding-did-prime-minister-marry-carrie-symonds-catholic/amp/

Peregrina · 30/05/2021 11:19

She looked quite besotted, but for him, as already pointed out, there is now a vacancy for a mistress.

Blossomtoes · 30/05/2021 11:19

She’s decent looking but definitely not in extremely beautiful territory. She’s been incredibly fortunate in her career, she’s progressed as far in a decade or so as most people manage by their early 40s. Which is surprising as every experienced comms professional I’ve ever met would never entertain for a second the offended letter she apparently wanted to send last year.

Body language is a bit 'off' too. She's smiling and seems relaxed, but he looks stiff and is leaning away from her. 5 years tops.

Not that looks should matter, but since you brought it up I'd say she's fairly average looking. Definitely not 'extremely beautiful'.

As to what she sees in him, well, he's PM. She comes from a political communications background, so I'd say her career is now sorted for life, whatever happens with her marriage.

Peregrina · 30/05/2021 11:30

Once again though, we see Johnson sorting out his private life instead of attending to the pressing needs of the country.
