Another installment in the saga.

Maybe following up with an Indian, Korma please, but protect the naans...

I read these threads appreciatively but don't often post. Has anyone seen this story from zero-covid fortress New Zealand? Turns out distancing and extreme hygiene do have a health cost after all 🙄

Honestly, I bet the Tube is one of the best tests of the immune system.

@WrinklesShminkles, it's almost as if locking people away might cause them harm. Or that other things than Covid exist. Shock

Worldgonecrazy · 09/07/2021 14:35

Tim Spector on Twitter: cases amongst unvaccinated falling; cases amongst vaccinated rising; now roughly a 50/50 split.

So annoyed that being unvaccinated would add £750 to holiday costs. Unfortunately I’m not in a position to put ethics ahead of money as we would lose £3k if we cancelled 🤬

WrinklesShminkles · 09/07/2021 14:49

@ISaySteadyOn I know! Or that death is somehow something you can avoid if you follow arbitrary roolz hard enough...

I did lose my Mum to Covid, but as with so many of the covid-bereaved, it's not her dying that hurts (it really was her time) but that she died without her family and that we never got to hold her hand and kiss her goodbye - for which I entirely blame lockdown.

The vaccinated are old 93 year old uncle last month terminal throat cancer, hospital acquired covid which the old bugger recovered from at home, but cancer got him Three weeks later, he still lasted longer than consultant reckoned but death certificate said cause of death covid. He'd be raging at that.

Unvaccinated well that's down to young unvaccinated or those unable or unwilling to have the jab

ISaySteadyOn · 09/07/2021 15:17

@WrinklesShminkles, Flowers. Sorry about your mum.

MercyBooth · 09/07/2021 15:45

@WrinklesShminkles So sorry about your mum

MercyBooth · 09/07/2021 15:46

An observation ive made.

The right talk about the deserving/non deserving poor and the left talk about the deserving/ non deserving NHS patient. Quite a disturbing parallel.

ISaySteadyOn · 09/07/2021 16:10

Two sides of a similar authoritarian coin?

Also, thank you for the link.

WrinklesShminkles · 09/07/2021 16:32

Thank you Mercy and ISay Smile

RainbowCrayons · 09/07/2021 16:40

I'm so glad for you @LivinLaVidaLoki

I'm annoyed for myself as it's only UK residents at the moment so British expats who are vaccinated can't use the new amber rules even if they are vaccinated. But then we're still stuck on the redlist as the world's most vaccinated country so it's not ralevent yet although we are all still hoping to move to Amber.

Iheartmysmart · 09/07/2021 18:14

@WrinklesShminkles I’m sorry about your mum, it’s awful that this is happening.

@LivinLaVidaLoki I’m so pleased that you’ll be seeing your family, great news.

Can I ask you sensible people a question please? DS has been pinged, done a LF test which is positive. He’s going for a PCR later and I know I need to isolate if this is also positive but I have a dog and live in a flat so can’t just poke him out in the garden on a regular basis! Bearing in mind I’m doubly vaccinated and will do regular tests, am I okay to walk him a few times a day? If I ask over there then I’ll be told I’m personally responsible for infecting half the planet. There isn’t anyone I can drop him off with unfortunately.

Evenstar · 09/07/2021 19:26

Hi everyone been reading but not posting much as I unexpectedly got my foot operation last week, I think because they are trying to get the numbers on waiting lists down and day surgeries do that faster. I had to stay in for a night though so that was a bit of a fail! No problem not wearing a mask though I did take my lanyard in case. I think it would have been a bit silly though as they kept me in partly due to low oxygen levels.

@Iheartmysmart I think I would walk the dog if I didn’t have symptoms and I could socially distance, I am double jabbed though.

Evenstar · 09/07/2021 19:26

Oh sorry you are too, definitely take him out

Curlygirl06 · 09/07/2021 19:43

@LivinLaVidaLoki good news at last!

@WrinklesShminkles sorry about your mum.

Iheartmysmart · 09/07/2021 19:45

@Evenstar Thank you. I figured that outside is low risk anyway and we can easily stay away from people. I feel like I did at the beginning of all this when people were being berated for going out more than once a day! We were out 5/6 times most days.

I’m glad you got your foot op, hopefully you’re recovering well.

WrinklesShminkles I am so sorry for your loss and that you were denied the chance to say goodbye. Glad you got your operation Evenstar. Iheartmysmart hope your DH is OK and that you get negative test results

Well I would take them masked up. It's a welfare reason to do otherwise would be a cruelty issue IMO
