So the 21st became just two more weeks became four more weeks and being nudged towards ‘until all adults are double vaccinated’ (note not until ‘all adults have been offered two vaccinations’

Shall we start a book on what our overlords will use as an excuse to extend controls after that?

So glad to see more people bending the roolz as far as possible. Grin

My poor best friend must be so gutted. She's supposed to be getting married next Friday and now it looks increasingly unlikely. It's her 3rd rescheduled date already. Her sister has her wedding booked for August and my friend was joking the other day that her sister may actually end up married before her...that may come to be true.
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9682605/Rishi-Sunak-rejects-pleas-businesses-extend-furlough-scheme.html
Not good for businesses caught up with the delay but in the big picture, that's more positive that hopefully this is the final round.
Not that I haven't had my hope crushed before.

When Whitty first said that there could 18m-2y of disruption and rolling lockdowns, it kind of suggested that there would be a hell of a lot more normality in between. But there has been little easing socially, and the amount of fear pumped out meant that many people can't function socially still because people were too terrified to do what is permissable.

Worldgonecrazy, count me in. I have the following offerings for my bet;

 1. Just this 4 weeks
 2. Hmm what about this Nepal variant?
 3. Schools and universities going back and teens not yet vaccinated.
 4. Study finds that vaccine antibodies don’t last, we need boosters and the vulnerable are no longer protected ahead of the incoming winter respiratory season.
 5. Cases growing exponentially now it’s Autumn and we need to do something to save Christmas - only this last short “fire break” though.
 6. Oh dear, Jan is looking awful for hospitals and can’t cope into February. Just another 4 weeks….

All of course interspersed with a couple of weeks of propaganda slowly plugging away in the background before each next introduction, so that by the time they make the announcement enough people are in agreement because they’ve been so terrified - AGAIN Angry

I can’t quite guess the next slogan though Hmm
I saw the “one last heave” headline this morning and nearly “heaved” my breakfast back up!

One last push? One last hurrah? One last pile of steaming bullshit?

I've had a few face to face appointments with various things and my three word slogan is "don't lick people." My dentist thought that was hilarious (and should be used!) Shall I tell the government?
WouldBeGood · 14/06/2021 11:27

I am absolutely sick of the terrified dictating the agenda.

Worldgonecrazy · 14/06/2021 14:18

Oops ventured to the dark side. The dementoring frothers are shouting loudly trying to convince everyone that the majority viewpoint matches theirs.

Interesting this morning on the train there were five people in my carriage not wearing masks. I do believe G 7 and the continued piss taking is finally waking some people up.

Worldgonecrazy · 14/06/2021 14:19

Curly girl I wouldn’t bet against No 4 on your list Angry

RainbowCrayons · 14/06/2021 15:59

If you want more proof of the rules not applying to the elite and/or performance health and safety then you need look no further than the euros. Not the players who obviously can't wear masks to play but all the managers, coaches and everyone else standing around on the sidelines who go for hugs at the end of the match. I assume they aren't too bothered and only wearing them because they have to but it does feel more like the elite again getting away with things the rest of us can't just like the G7.

Lostinacloud · 14/06/2021 17:00

I’ve just got the absolute rage with all this again even though I knew it was coming and so I am unleashing on the dark side! There are some avid lockdown supporters out today, holy moly!

Worldgonecrazy · 14/06/2021 19:03

So in a sop to the masses, wedding guest number limits will be scrapped, but no dancing except for first dance, and masks to be worn when not sat at a table.

Absolute fucking wankers!

MercyBooth · 14/06/2021 19:12

I can hear the protesters on Channel 4 news. Cathy Newman is reporting from outside No 10

Only plus side to living in Wales is there's no hope to lose 😢

LivinLaVidaLoki · 14/06/2021 20:00

This is the first time he has ever said that he will review after 2 weeks and if the data allows then may open earlier.....
Don't know what to make of that tbh

I was hopeful that England returning to normality would force a bit of a change in Wales, but I know what you mean. It's been 15 months since I could have someone in my house who isn't in my extended household. It's ridiculous.
GiveMeNovocain · 14/06/2021 20:22

@110APiccadilly you're right. I still am stunned the government can dictate who I see in my home. We definitely need England to lead the way out but I think they've broken me

BogRollBOGOF · 14/06/2021 23:02

Why does there need to be any kind of measures outside? Why can't outdoor events resume at this point?
Pissed off it's another month without parkrun as too many councils/ NT won't operate until SD is scrapped.

As Delta is "sweeping" through the young, unvaccinated people, it's going to inevitably dwindle pretty rapidly on avaliable hosts to infect anyway, even without the delay.

Will Andrew Lloyd Webber live up to his promises?

The trouble is it's not something you can really do to defy the rules, other than having the audacity to have a face in public. I can't really protest by holding a run for a few thousand people. I can't put on a stage show or festival.

And the twats saying that it's pretty normal now, what are you moaning about, are not the ones making the sacrifices, yet happy to morally impose on other peoples' lifestyles and income.

@MercyBooth happy birthday! X

110APiccadilly · 15/06/2021 08:54

Happy Birthday @MercyBooth.

I'm being invited to give blood, and as DD is now over 6 months, I could. I've done it for years, been glad to do it, and thought of it as one of the ways I contribute to society. I know I should still do it - the people who need my blood are not responsible for what's going on. But I really, really don't want to - I feel that I no longer want to contribute to society as it certainly doesn't care about me. (And also don't fancy the whole mask wearing stuff, but that by itself wouldn't be enough to stop me.) Anyone feel like encouraging me to go and do it? I know I should.
