That's fucking disgraceful if true @MercyBooth
Sadly not surprising though.

Hancock has got to resign. He has to.

Stuffin · 06/06/2021 17:56

Back from a nice meal inside a restaurant. I actually think pubs and restaurants are the best place for a taste of normality because once you have sat down covid doesn't exist Grin

MercyBooth · 06/06/2021 17:59

Hes a prick.

Stuffin · 06/06/2021 18:00

I think they messed around with the travel in the hope that people shouting about the delta variant and June restrictions would be placated. Except they should realise that nothing will placate them.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 06/06/2021 18:06

Surely if we are following the science when it's telling us we can't travel, we should be following it when it tells us we can

MercyBooth · 06/06/2021 18:12

@LivinLaVidaLoki ive got no skin in the game personally as i dont travel but i can see the double standards and its grossly unfair.
We are already now halfway through the year. They are going to pull another Christmas lockdown arent they Angry

MercyBooth · 06/06/2021 18:15

In the Escapes (travel section) of last months Red they did the Greek Islands. Beautiful. And all quite separate from each other as you said.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 06/06/2021 18:46

Can I steal your post for another thread @MercyBooth?

LivinLaVidaLoki · 06/06/2021 18:48

@MercyBooth

In the Escapes (travel section) of last months Red they did the Greek Islands. Beautiful. And all quite separate from each other as you said.
Exactly. Considering most cases are on the northern land borders on the mainland the idea you can't go to some of the islands is like saying "you can't go to Paris because case rates are too high in Birmingham"
MercyBooth · 06/06/2021 18:55

Course you can @LivinLaVidaLoki Smile

LivinLaVidaLoki · 06/06/2021 19:00

Thank you @MercyBooth

I feel so angry. So so angry. I wonder if the leak came from Grant Shapps as he supported the recommendations from the report apparently, but has been the fall guy for the decision.

I kind of hope there will be some serious backlash regarding this but considering the news will just be full of royal baby news for the next week I'm guessing this will just pass by.....

LivinLaVidaLoki · 06/06/2021 19:14

Malakas malakas malakas.

Fucking lot of them! Mou eprikse ta arhidia!

Greek lesson of the day that translates to "it has made my balls swollen" a phrase used when something has so completely dumbfounded you it'd raise your blood pressure.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 06/06/2021 19:22

I was hoping there may be some serious questions asked about this but Harry and Meghan have had another baby now so I guess I'm shit out of luck on that one....

😂

LivinLaVidaLoki · 07/06/2021 06:44

A friend posted about this on Facebook last night and a friend commented:

"Hancock accused of killing travel, also accused of killing nursing home residents. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t. If anyone says the ‘top dogs’ haven’t earned their money this year - I would like to see them try to manage this shitshow for £170k a year"

Firstly accused of makes it sound like he didn't do it. He absolutely did cause the death of thousands of care home residents with his policy of discharging covid positive patients into care homes to free up NHS capacity. He and the gruesome twosome have absolutely put many more people put of work by going against the science He claims to be following (though not before one of them had already been on his jollies to Portugal).
That's before you get into closing hospitality while keeping the restaurant (subsidised by the tax payer) in Parliament open by reclassifying it as a work canteen so they can enjoy subsidised gourmet food whilst feeding the poorest children absolute shite worth 2.80 at a cost of 35 pounds to the taxpayer....but that's OK cos at least it was lining their mates pockets. Also ok-ing one of the lowest education recovery funds in the world at 310 pounds per pupil the next lowest being 1660 (though that shouldn't be a surprise, they didn't want to even feed them so I doubt they give a shiny shit about educating them)
Spaffing billions of pounds on contracts to their mates and tory donors on contracts that were never tendered for (Hancocks pizza box making mate getting the contract for vials fir testing despite having no experience in this field....serco being given track and trace when an adequately funded public health service could have done that)

This isn't about us thinking we can do better, it's about asking the people we elected to look after our interests to actually look out for ours and not their own.

Worldgonecrazy · 07/06/2021 07:14

@LivinLaVidaLoki where’s the applause emoji when I need it

Absolutely spot on. The whole thing has been a wallet lining shit show

The loopholes have allowed the government to continue pretty much as normal whilst the plebs are encouraged to turn against each other to distract our attention.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 07/06/2021 07:20

Thanks @Worldgonecrazy
I've not gone on a rant in aaaaaages as I just feel so so deflated by the whole situation. Ive just let them get on with spouting crap. But for the first time in a long time I feel angry. So so angry. Angry at the government for what they have done and continue to do and angry at the masses who still think they're doing a good job. I could scream.

WouldBeGood · 07/06/2021 07:53

That rant has made me feel better @LivinLaVidaLoki thanks!

I’ve been feeling really anxious again but I think it’s partly because of the blind acceptance of all this. I need to get angry again!

LivinLaVidaLoki · 07/06/2021 09:20

Just noticed @MercyBooth that more news outlets are running with the green list story now......but oddly not the BBC.

I really hope the aviation industry put some serious pressure on the govt now. Can't believe O Leary hasn't bought it up yet.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 07/06/2021 09:44

Saw this and thought you'd appreciate it

Lostinacloud · 07/06/2021 09:50

Grin that genius @LivinLaVidaLoki. Throwing their endless manipulation of data and wording right back in their corrupt faces!

Lostinacloud · 07/06/2021 11:10

I’m sure this isn’t a new idea but I wish I could get through to enough people to tell them to just STOP testing!! If nobody tests anymore then they can’t count on false positives and random asymptomatic cases or cases where people may even feel a bit under the weather but no more than any other coronavirus. They wouldn’t be able to actively hunt cases down like in schools or where they know about little clusters of cases.
Those who feel truly ill with it will most likely not mix with other people anyway because they will be at home in bed and many may assume they might have it and so wait their 10 days after recovering to go back outside and mix with people again.
In the meantime, the only figures the government can then rely on are the cases that turn up in hospital and so far these remain well within acceptable and manageable limits. Hell if they’re lucky they may even get a few bonus cases they can record from admissions like 12 year old James who broke his wrist on the trampoline but happens to have covid sitting in his nose.
Surely with only these figures to go on, most people would be able to wake up and smell the coffee?

Lostinacloud · 07/06/2021 11:13

I know this suggestion would not have been acceptable a few months ago due to the risk of larger unchecked case numbers being more likely to affect vulnerable people. But almost all vulnerable people have been vaccinated! And those who the media love to remind us have only had one dose and so aren’t fully protected are already quite protected by virtue of their age alone!

Taswama · 07/06/2021 11:50

I agree Lost . We are being encouraged to do weekly testing with our planned return to the office from 21 June. Cases in itself isn't really a helper number and the government have already said it is deaths, hospital cases and vaccinations that is being used to determine next steps.

WouldBeGood · 07/06/2021 12:32

@Lostinacloud that makes so much sense. But apparently I’m selfish and thick for saying it elsewhere 🙄.

Personally I am having no part in any testing and I’m not getting DS tested for school.

BogRollBOGOF · 07/06/2021 14:14

Several weeks ago, I was randomly selected to participate in testing/ study to pick up community transmission. Several letters and texts sent. I did not participate. I spend very little time indoors away from home so the chances of having it are minimal and minimal chances of passing it on. I couldn't see any benefits to particpating.

The high local rates of vaccination have stopped a local hotspot from spreading into a wider area. A lot of local people around the cusp of 40 are getting their second jab in the next couple of days.
The vaccination isn't perfect in terms of side effects, but it is acheiving its core function of minimising the potential severity of the illness and reducing spread. It's just galling that life is still so restricted and the media tone so negative.
