Truthfully, how often do you change your bedsheets?

  1. When you were a child?
  2. As a university student (or equivalent) ?
  3. Now?

Any difference between being single/ sharing a bed with a partner?

Once a week as a fully fledged grown up.

Once every month, maybe longer, as a grubby student.

No idea how often they were changed as a child.

Once a week. Sometimes more often in summer.

No idea as a child, can't remember as a student, but now it's weekly, on a Saturday morning. All the whites and school shirts go in first, and then the duvet covers and pillowcases. I feel all twitchy until it's done.

I try to do it fortnightly, but don't always stick to that and I do try to time the washing with good drying weather because it makes drying so much easier.

I hate using the tumble dryer because the duvet cover gets balled up so its wet in the middle and boiling hot crispy on the outside (and yes I have tried tennis balls, mixing with other stuff, doing it by itself etc etc and it still does the same).

But it sounds like you're making it into a bigger deal than it has to OP. As it happens, this morning, we stripped the bed when we got up, put the washing on and then I hung the sheets out when they were ready and they'll be dry later, ready to go back on the bed (we do have spares but if they're out, they might as well just be used again). If the weather is wet, I tend to hang the duvet and sheets over the bedroom curtain rail because they dry really quickly as it's above the radiator and that's the easiest way.

I'm ashamed to say it can sometimes be months! blush

Ahh I've found a friend grin
I'm a notoriously non smelly person, all my past dps and dh have commented on it. My bed generally smells of the shower gel and body butter I use and I always shower before bed.
Yes, I know I sweat but my bed looks clean and certainly smells clean, so I can't be bothered to do it anymore than I do!**

@Littlefluffyclouds13

Your previous partners and dh presumably perfectly happy to also sleep in sheets that haven’t been changed for months, so hardly the most reliable source!Grin

In Winter fortnightly, but in warmer weather weekly as I get sweaty lol

unruly336 · 05/05/2021 14:06

Can’t remember as a child

Whenever they were covered in fake tan as a student Grin

Weekly now

Can't remember as a child. I lived in nursing accommodation during my training and we changed them once a week. That sort of stuck and I still change them once a week. I've had a lot of practice changing beds !.

Who says any of my previous partners were long term? Wink

And dh is like me, he never smells, so a match made in heaven Grin

Muchtoomuchtodo · 05/05/2021 16:09

As a child - honestly no idea. I don’t remember it being a big thing so it must have been fairly often
In uni - once a term 🤣
Now- once a fortnight.

bluebeach · 05/05/2021 16:45

A)No idea
B)Barely ever
C)My husband does it probably every 4-5 weeks

NerrSnerr · 05/05/2021 17:03

As a child is was really rare. It just didn't happen.

At university probably every few weeks or so.

Now it's fortnightly.

Egghead81 · 05/05/2021 17:35

@Littlefluffyclouds13

So each new partner you’d change your sheets for?
Or you’d fall in to bed with months old sheets on?
