Truthfully, how often do you change your bedsheets?

  1. When you were a child?
  2. As a university student (or equivalent) ?
  3. Now?

Any difference between being single/ sharing a bed with a partner?

Do people only have one set of bedding then ? I change mine every two weeks or so but I swap to another set so I don't have to think about remaking the bed later in the day because it's a job I hate.
So no need to stress about washing and drying it the same day !

AlwaysLatte · 04/05/2021 19:44

It's months between washing the king sized duvets though because they don't fit in the washing machine Blush
The single duvets get washed about once a month.

LST · 04/05/2021 19:44

Every week. Kids every 2.

conywarp · 04/05/2021 19:44

I struggle with this. I'm autistic and find everyday tasks overwhelming. If it wasn't for DH ours would rarely get washed Blush

CallMeCleo · 04/05/2021 19:45

a) don't remember
b) weekly
c) fortnightly, nightress weekly

LaceyBetty · 04/05/2021 19:46

As a child, I have no idea.

At uni, every week as I had a fan washer and dryer right outside my room

Now, maybe every two weeks or three.

Same here! One set on the beds while another is washed and a couple of spare sets in case we have a quick turnaround of guests (those were the days!)

Chailatteplease · 04/05/2021 19:46

Weekly, same day every week.

Wish I could be bothered to do it more often, love fresh sheets!

Inmypjsagain · 04/05/2021 19:47
  1. I think it was weekly but my parents did it for me.
  2. University- twice a week. Mainly because people used my room a lot to chill in and it was used as a sofa by everyone! Plus it was only a single bed and uni washing machines were huge, so I had a spare set and could do a big wash once a week.
  3. Still weekly.

Single or partner, my routine hasn’t changed. I would love to change my sheets daily, it’s what I love about hotels, fresh sheets all the time! But just not feasible in real life, sadly!

wingsnthat · 04/05/2021 19:48
  1. Um like never? My parents are filthy and would wash bedding every 6+ months. Every time they would leave their bedroom door open, the house stunk. Obviously by the time I was a teen I washed it myself much more frequently
  1. Every week - we had dryers in halls so could wash and reapply the bedding the same day😍 was a dream as I don’t current have a dryer!
  1. Again every week minimum (sex may require more frequently), but trying to dry duvets and flat sheets without a dryer is a pain! I have sensitive skin and find that regularly changing bedding keeps my skin more normal/balanced

I do only have one set of bedding but that’s because I now have a single bed as opposed to all the doubles/queens I’ve had in recent years. I keep wanting to buy extra bedding but I didn’t want to order it online and going shopping where I live is a faff (Covid test, appointment, fill forming at the door). I’m going to Primark next week so maybe I’ll pick something up there Grin

I have lots of double and queen bedding for the guest air bed. So I used to just swap them around before.

To be honest I think everyone hates changing bedding! I do, it’s such an annoying process that I would really hire a cleaner just to do it for me
Thefaceofboe · 04/05/2021 19:52

Can’t remember as a child but I presume every week. Now I do them every week, sometimes twice a week at the moment as I’m off work and love fresh bedding.

LaceyBetty · 04/05/2021 19:53

I love that no one remembers when they were a child. Hopefully my children won't remember their dad and me as hideous housekeepers.

I've got 10 sets I just don't like the washing building up, as soon as there's a load it goes in, once a load is in its dried and put away same day for tidiness.

When I used to get the bus, there'd alwybe people who you could smell if you were sitting in front of or behind them (I'd rather stand than sit next to them!). They didn't look obviously dirty or smell strongly of wee or BO, they smelled of an excess of human body smell, like greasy hair and unwashed clothes. I think some people on this thread are those people 🤢🤮

firstimemamma · 04/05/2021 19:54

Every Friday without fail.

InFiveMins · 04/05/2021 19:57

As a child - can't remember.

Since living on my own I would say once a fortnight.

zaffa · 04/05/2021 19:58

Weekly my whole life I think but I did live at home for Uni

Tootyfilou · 04/05/2021 20:01

Who was that poster from ages ago who washed her bedding daily?

whattodo2019 · 04/05/2021 20:02

Having been to boarding school
since the age of 8 years old i am programmed to change all sheets every Sunday without fail!!!

whattodo2019 · 04/05/2021 20:03

@pancakes22

I'm ashamed to say it can sometimes be months! Blush
Are you serious??? That is disgusting 🤢
AlmostSummer21 · 04/05/2021 20:05

1: Probably weekly. Never thought about it, but helped if mum asked.
2: weekly
3: in the summer at least twice a week. More often if it's really hot, but sometimes just the pillow cases and sheets if the duvet has been folded up.

I have several sets, but I have favourites so often the same set goes back on later in the day! Never take long to dry on the line or on the airer.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 04/05/2021 20:07

As a child- not that often, but then kids don’t really sweat that much anyway.

At uni- I spent about 80% of my time at my boyfriends flat, and he rarely washed his Envy. At my parents though, probably every few weeks as I was only spending about two nights a week there.

Now- every two weeks. I love fresh sheets but DH likes his bedding “to smell like him”as he’s very odd, so every two weeks is the compromise. I shower before bed and wear fresh pyjamas every night anyway, so thankfully my side stays pretty clean anyway.

Corncorncorn · 04/05/2021 20:10

Oh god as a teenager at uni, maybe once a term Envy bleugh. Too busy partying.

Now about once a week.

There's always someone who comes on these threads and says everydayConfused

Gatehouse77 · 04/05/2021 20:10

Once a week. Always.
