Truthfully, how often do you change your bedsheets?

  1. When you were a child?
  2. As a university student (or equivalent) ?
  3. Now?

Any difference between being single/ sharing a bed with a partner?

I'm ashamed to say it can sometimes be months!

This is so disgusting. 🤮

Stroopwaffle5000 · 05/05/2021 02:28

Weekly. I love fresh sheets!

Nodal · 05/05/2021 02:40

Every week here

MinnieMountain · 05/05/2021 05:51

Fortnightly. I do our bed one week and DS’s the other so there’s not too much to dry in one go.

Bluntness100 · 05/05/2021 05:57

@MintLampShade

Every two weeks or so I'd say. But we shower before going to bed which makes the sheets last a bit longer.
It doesn’t really you still sweat and shed skin at night. Your sheets accumulate, sweat, dead skins cells, dust mites etc,
sumpplneedshaking · 05/05/2021 06:08

Every week. Hate the feeling of getting into a mucky bed and love the feeling of fresh bedding.

LemonViolet · 05/05/2021 06:09

@BeefSupreme

Hang on... do people wash their duvets? Or do you all mean duvet covers?
I never used to wash the actual duvet, as I couldn’t fit it in the machine. However now I have a machine I can fit it in and it even has a special ‘duvet’ setting, so I do wash it, but not as often as the sheets/covers.... really just when puppy has pee’d on it so far!
DastardlytheFriendlyMutt · 05/05/2021 08:05

Duvets and pillows washed every 3 months.

WeeDonkey · 05/05/2021 08:07

@Sparklingbrook

Why do you ask?
Same reason the same question gets asked almost-daily on here! HmmConfused
LaBellina · 05/05/2021 08:10

In all situations: weekly change.

When I’m sick and spending time in bed or had sex with a lot of body fluids spread around 😅 I wash them immediately after I get out of bed.

LaBellina · 05/05/2021 08:10

Duvets and pillows maybe once every 3 months.

AnneElliott · 05/05/2021 08:11

As a child every week. We had to strip the beds on a Friday morning before we came down for breakfast. Mum would change remake them while we were at school. DS thinks that's akin to child abuse! Because it had to be done before we got to eat!

Now I do it fortnightly and more often if it needs it.

BountyIsUnderrated · 05/05/2021 08:13

Every 2 weeks normally but if we've had a rough week/too busy sometimes slightly longer.
Normally when they start to smell I'll start making comments lol!
Dh prefers to change the sheets as he's much quicker, if I had the energy I'd do it every week but we split chores 50/50 and I have so much washing every weekend with the baby etc I just don't feel like I always have time.

LittleTiger007 · 05/05/2021 08:20

As a child - weekly
As a student - more like every two or three weeks
Now - weekly. It doesn’t take ‘days’ as you suggest. I take off the old, swap out for clean, stick it in machine on hot then hang it up or put in tumble dryer. At the end of the day I fold it up and put in a blanket box for next week. I don’t iron them as my mum used to do... now that would take days as we have a super king!

LittleTiger007 · 05/05/2021 08:22

@sumpplneedshaking

This.

I LOVE clean bedding day. Running my toes between clean, crisp sheets... bliss.

damekindness · 05/05/2021 08:26

As a child - magic pixies possibly
As a student - actually don't ever remember washing any Confused
Now - every week always on a Sunday (or Monday if a BH) so that the night before the start of the working week has something positive associated with it even if it's only the joy of fresh sheets

mamawithfive · 05/05/2021 08:46

Had a set day as a child to strip bedding and bring to utility room.

Didn’t go to uni, moved out at 21 when bought first home and had first baby.

Kids now have a set day to strip and bring their bedding to machine.

I wash ours once a week, not on a set day, just when there is space in between all the other washing (5 kids!) so sometimes it might be getting closer to 2 weeks!

Thankfully we live abroad so generally it can all go straight out onto the washing line and back on the beds within a few hours.

GlamGiraffe · 05/05/2021 08:46

Its always been done in once a week.
In hot weather ill do them a couple of times a week. It takes so little time to put them in the machine and hang them on the line. It keeps the whole mattress fresh and new for longer.

Wanderlusto · 05/05/2021 08:48

If I had a partner I would do them weekly.

As is, monthly. If I can be arsed. And in colder months I'll leave them longer.

MaudesMum · 05/05/2021 08:51

Child and student - can't remember. Now - every week - usually on a Sunday. I love the smell of clean sheets, especially when they've been dried outside!

Frymetothemoon · 05/05/2021 08:58

Bottom sheet and pillow cases, every week. Duvet cover, every 2 weeks.
Even after just a week our bed is full of hair, hairs and dead skin (and DH's pillow stained with sweat)

DefinitelyOdd · 05/05/2021 09:45

As a child I don't remember. But my mum wasn't houseproud so I'd say every couple of months.

As a student every fortnight when I had a laundry load.

And now, I change them every time my DH is on call because I'm selfish and love getting in a fresh bed without him there! I also change them when I get back from an overnight shift for the same reason. This roughly works out as weekly or every ten days.

3Britnee · 05/05/2021 09:48

I want to do it weekly. I don't though, at the moment. I used to. I'm trying to get back in to a routine, using tomm, and once I'm on top of all my washing - we just moved and I want to wash everything and have a clear out before putting it away - I will get on top of weekly bed changes. My DH is away at the moment so its only me in it 🤷‍♀️

Lightningrain · 05/05/2021 09:53

Every weekend. I’m pretty sure it was done weekly as a child and I carried on doing this as a student. I love getting into fresh bedding.

2Rebecca · 05/05/2021 09:55

As a child I didn't change them, mum did.
As a student it varied, in halls there was a weekly laundry service, when renting probably monthly or when they looked messy. Now every 3 weeks or so.
