'One project a day' thread

BlueLobelia · 18/04/2021 12:51

... many years ago when i was first on MN I started (or maybe just actively participated in, cannot quite recall) a one (house) project a day. It made the most profound difference to my home. The project could be time consuming or not. It could take seconds, minutes or hours. I recall things like changing the lightbulb and lampshade in a hallway table lamp for example as a single day project. One day i also threw away holey and raggedy cushion covers and bought news ones. Little things, that really mattered.

If anyone is interested I wish to start another thread.

Today, as my one project a day, I cleared out my dehydrated and weed-ridden window boxes (2 of them). I put new compost in them and planted them with lobelia (obviously!); red geraniums and some dianthus. I am happy looking out (and in!) my front windows now. :)

Today I've:
Sorted invitations to dd's birthday party
Bought garden furniture
Posted a couple of things on eBay and packaged up more to send
Given away a couple of items on Olio.

I'm frantically trying to get organised and declutter as we're putting our house on the market...

Today’s bathroom project was to clean the windowsills and windows, so all now looking good. Also did Wednesday’s TOMM which is thirty minutes on the hallway and stairs. We live in a flat so no stairs, but the hallway was pretty cluttered and needed some dusting and sorting out. Also went into town at lunchtime, dropped some stuff in the textile recycling and bought new pants for the DDs, plus some men’s boxers for me to wear as sleep shorts. Quite a lot done actually Smile

I got the pots ready to be varnished this morning, planning to do it in my lunch hour but DH got bored during a meeting and did them for me.

I sorted out another shelf in the cupboard and DH has some more shirts that no longer fit ready to go to the charity shop.

All those messages weren't me, honestly. I only posted once.
That wasn't today's project. To have a world record in deletions. Grin

😂 I’ve done nothing today, long day at work and then dinner etc. I’m about to get up though and do something quickly before bed.
Sparklynewname · 12/05/2021 20:58

Yesterday we didn’t achieve anything indoors but we did go and view a car for DS which we have bought. Ordered his L plates for him too.
Tonight was just catching up on washing.

BeautifulandWilfulandDead · 12/05/2021 21:10

Not much achieved in the day today for the house as I was busy with work, but I did nip out to B&Q to buy some new wooden flooring.

mum2jakie · 12/05/2021 21:39

Mowed the top lawn (split level garden, not a huge manor house!)

Also put swimming kit through the wash on day it's been used - rather than forgetting about it for a week!

Indoors, touching up bathroom cleaning and cleared the landing of clutter.

Silkiecats · 12/05/2021 21:52

Today I have thoroughly cleaned the kitchen, floors, walls, windows, all surfaces and made 4 bags of rubbish from it. Also cleaned bedroom quickly.

I have opened new bank account.

I have got Ed psych report for my DS which was great but I did have to point out that I am not married to the senco who was listed as my husband and DSs Dad. DS thought it was very amusing and seemed remarkably unfazed by my change of husbands.

Winning! Just remembered a friends birthday is on Friday and I have the perfect card (I have a stash of generic cards but buy individual's cards as and when I see them) card is written, has a stamp on it and by the school bags so it can be posted on the school run tomorrow morning.

mathanxiety · 13/05/2021 05:05

Took some leftovers out of the fridge and binned them.
Brought a plant out to the deck - hoping it won't be too cold out there overnight from now on.
Held the cat in the bathroom sink with my left hand and arm while dealing with a dingleberry with my rubber gloved right hand. Cat wasn't as grateful as I thought she would be.

DownUdderer · 13/05/2021 05:34

I've bought a new mop and bucket. I've shaken out a big rug.

Garden jobs for tomorrow.

frugalkitty · 13/05/2021 08:51

Today's job is braving checking the online banking and paying the credit card as this month is slipping by and I mustn't miss the payment date.
Also must remember that a dress for DD's non-prom finishes on eBay tonight and I need to try to win it. Hate auctions, much prefer buy-it-now as it gets done there and then.

BlueLobelia · 13/05/2021 09:47

morning all!

Today i plan to clean out one kitchen shelf.

I have some more sweet peas to plant.

I need to swap my sim card over to my new phone (this has taken me 10 days Hmm )

I need to order a birthday present for my father.

Morning.
I've slipped a bit but day off today so I need to.
Write to the bank to close the joint account.
Put the mountain of clothes away.
Wash the woolies and get them dry before the weather breaks.
Might cut the grass too.
Hope everyone has a good day

Divineswirls · 13/05/2021 11:01

I've washed the bathroom mats and might sort out all the crap that's built up on the dining room table

TenCornMaidens · 13/05/2021 11:02

Cleaned the sodding fridge. Got husband to put away shopping.

Also bought new shoelaces for a pair of shoes that came with annoying laces.

Divineswirls · 13/05/2021 11:02

Ie all the items not layers of dirt

Fnib · 13/05/2021 12:16

I got my bits neatly away in spare room wardrobe yesterday. And I now have a couple of empty storage boxes! Both bedrooms had a thorough hoover.
This morning I wiped the downstairs outside window sills and my front door (white pvc)

LlamaGiles · 13/05/2021 16:56

Today I've been to the charity shop and a separate local baby clothing drop off and got rid of a few bags of stuff today, also posted 3 eBay sales and booked a slot at the tip on Saturday. Declutter continues!

drspouse · 13/05/2021 19:51

More plug plants in containers, the order originally had some spring onions as well as spinach but they had a spring onion failure so I have additional leaf beet which the DCs will eat (they are salad monsters, though refuse quite a few other veg!) but I'm not sure I have enough containers!

ShinyHatStand · 13/05/2021 20:14

Good effort all.

I bagged up two bags for tomorrow's charity pick up.
And blitzed the kitchen corner that's been annoying me for months.

Sparklynewname · 13/05/2021 20:56

I have been flat out all day!
I’ve done all the full loads of washing but didn’t strip 2 beds as wouldn’t have had time to wash dry and replace before tonight.
Cleaned spare room, cleaned bathroom, mopped all tiled floors. Then went into DS’s bedroom and gutted it. Picked him up from station, took him and DH for vaccination on the off chance that they might have some leftover for DS. DH spoke to the people there and they have put DS on a waitlist- they expressed surprise that he wasn’t called with the rest of group 6- we have been battling for a while and his gp won’t refer him despite a hospital admission due to asthma 😩
Anyway, back home, flipped DS’s mattress and changed the side the slats were on so now his bed doesn’t squeak any more. Remade his bed, had tea and folded and put away 4 baskets of laundry.
I’m now collapsed in the bath 🛀😂
