@WouldBeGood

You do just point your camera at it *@Taswama*
Do you? So it knows where to direct you, the app or the form you fill in if you don't have the app?
WouldBeGood · 11/04/2021 19:46

Yes, @AcornAutumn. It all becomes clear when you do it. Seems weird but it works. I’ve never had any track and trace app

justasking111 · 11/04/2021 19:59

Re booked up till 2022, just like the folk s who have booked a week in Cornwall, Wales, Scotland and Greece, who brag they'll dump the other 3 if they get Greece, they'll be doing the same with restaurants. It's wicked behaviour I said elsewhere and was shot down . So much for supporting the UK 💩💩

Sickening. And predictably, people making jokes about how unvaccinated ppl would rather stand next to a volcano. This is horrifying and brutal.

CBS Evening News
@CBSEveningNews
Nearly 20,000 people have been forced out of their homes on the Caribbean island of St. Vincent after a volcano erupted there for the first time in more than 40 years.

Cruise ships are now evacuating people from the island -- but only those vaccinated against COVID-19.

No, but you've given your data to either the place or the central database?

So if there was a traceable outbreak in the place you're visiting, they get in touch with you?

I saw that yesterday but didn't know if it was true.
WouldBeGood · 11/04/2021 20:19

@AcornAutumn that’s just how to work QR codes; the rest depends, I suppose

Taswama · 11/04/2021 22:19

Re the booked until next year - my favourite restaurant in town isn't taking bookings, it's just first come first serve. I think that's a pretty sensible strategy.

AcornAutumn · 11/04/2021 22:41

Rather a pity the way my thread on the C board has turned out but what can you do.

Some of the "building inside outside" has got so crazy. My cousin is booked into a place that's got covered booths and heaters. I think whether or not pubs etc get this agreed is down to whether the council like them or not, frankly. Especially if the council regular book their meeting rooms.

AcornAutumn · 11/04/2021 22:42

*regularly

AcornAutumn · 11/04/2021 22:55

There was also a thread last night that made me realise, people wanting to socialise might ask about vaccines....so far no one has asked except one person who knows about my health issues. However, she said "will you have it" not "have you had it". I just lied and said I was still thinking.

MercyBooth · 11/04/2021 23:23

I have a question about hairdressers and vaccines. Apparently some people are developing adverse reactions to hair colour after having the vaccine. In RL world where hairdressers have already lost a lot of money due to being forced to close for nine months of the last year , are they likely to support things like vaccine passports?

I don't know But UK cinema are against it, the British Retail Consortium are against it. Who knows what carrot the government will offer though.

Re people asking about vaccines, I thought it was time for another song, this time baed on You Need To Calm Down. Which a lot of people need to do.

🎤 You are somebody that I might know
Asking me about my vaccine so
I'm just like, damn
No manners again

You are not my doctor so butt out
Acting all concerned is a cop out
I'm just like, hey
Nose out, okay

I ain't trying mess with your isolation
But please learn the lesson that stressing
and obsessing 'bout another's vax is not fun
And it's none of your feckin business hun

So
Oh oh
You need to calm down
You need to butt out

And i'm just like oh oh oh
You need to just stop
Like can you just not
Poke your nose in
It's getting grim 🎤

We've already got 2/3s of the adult population vacvinated.
Between spring and vaccination rates, Covid cases are free-falling.
I really don't understand the hysteria on needing to know other's vaccine status. In the vast majority of cases high-risk people are vaccinated and well protected, plus a growing proportion of lower risk
demographics.
More protection than we've ever offered against flu.

We have Plans for the day, and a very excited birthday boy!

Happy Birthday to him! 🍰

rosettesforjill · 12/04/2021 09:06

I am pro vaccination and will 100% be getting mine when offered, so vaccination certificates make little difference to me personally. But I find it difficult to see the point of them! Presumably they would never be mandated until all adults had been offered one and at the current high rate of vaccination, surely the risk would be low enough that businesses don't need to worry about only admitting people who have been jabbed? If that makes sense!

zigaziga · 12/04/2021 09:10

Haven’t posted on these threads for a while.

I am so happy today. I can’t wait to walk past people eating outside at restaurants and drinking in pub gardens.

Loving all the dementor comments about there being another lockdown in a few weeks “the way people are behaving”. How people are behaving doesn’t stop the 99% most at risk having been vaccinated. So many people would have us all locked down forever if they could and love being snobby about long queues for shops they wouldn’t set foot in.

Yes they might need boosters in the autumn or winter but we aren’t there yet.

zigaziga · 12/04/2021 09:23

I am terrified that vaccine passports will creep in before we are all offered vaccinated.

Would there be time though? I couldn't see the government getting their arses into gear to get anything sorted before next year. I did some work related to ID cards when they were proposed and everything was laughably long winded!

This is the logic I keep coming to. Plus trust in medical data being held by some company of the likes of Serco. With DS1's SENs we've had a lot of multi-agency interraction and it's constant signing of consent to share information which needs to happen. But I don't like the potential precedent for a third party to hold medical information and where that could potentially lead.

I've got a race on Sunday. No I will not wear a hanky on my face between my car and the start. I will not play hyperventilating roulette in the outdoors while trying to process a fairly unfamilar place, and about to run 10k. I will also not swab myself. I'm vaccinated, and at no substantial risk of encountering the 0-2 people in my neighbourhood that may have the virus, or in the wider area where 50 people out of 250,000 in the city had the virus as at 6th April and declining rapidly. 3/4s of the neighbourhoods are at 0-2 cases. The bit of my body that needs swabbing is my cervix which is now a year overdue (I literally can't face that at the moment).

The predictable Primark Shaming has begun Hmm

There does also seem to be a bit of pushback to the idea in the papers.

I'm hoping that ineptitude and beaurocracy are the better oarts of valour here Grin

FIL unthinkingly tried the Primark shaming last time until I pointed out that children grow and people might be desperate for clothes and shoes for them. Then, because he is actually a nice man, he acknowledged I was right and stopped.

Is that the only thing that worries you about them?
