Crumbs I'm allowed in to Wales!

No seriously, I loved Wales when I visited but I can't see travel being feasible for me now.

WouldBeGood · 10/04/2021 15:25

Hello from fully locked down Scotland. Except hairdressers

justasking111 · 10/04/2021 15:31

@AcornAutumn if you do not want to drive look at coaches they run here every day. No idea where you live though.

Although we are open many council toilets are not, so without cafes, restaurants being open gonna be a lot of crossed legs here. I checked our council website they have a radar key for disabled but otherwise, its grim, we have loo roll and brown parcels littering our sand dunes according to the locals.

I remember Whitby going nuts last year because the council there kept loos shut to deter visitors, which resulted in bottles of urine and little brown heaps all over

AcornAutumn · 10/04/2021 15:39

just I mean travel is not feasible. I'm in London, I don't drive, i'm not doing long journeys with the lanyard to then be tracked everywhere I go.

The world is closed AFAIC.

AcornAutumn · 10/04/2021 15:43

Talking of hairdressers, do home highlight kits exist?

I'd like to give it a try but I don't do hairdressers. A home kit under £10, I'd give that a try.

WouldBeGood · 10/04/2021 15:44

What about a mobile hairdresser @AcornAutumn? I do that as can’t do a mask in a salon for hours

AcornAutumn · 10/04/2021 15:59

No, I meant I don't pay hairdresser prices. Have been cutting my own hair for years.
WouldBeGood · 10/04/2021 16:02

Ah! Fair enough 😃

I think the lack of a mask in London a highly densely populated area lots of bodies breathing you may well stand out. Here we never queue to get into a supermarket, the queue outside the bakers moves fast. You would have an easier time, We are more tolerant, understanding of folk who do not wear masks maybe because we do not live in a crowded city. If you chose to have a holiday I would go somewhere quieter anyway not being a great fan of cities myself.

Hi. I'm almost back in the land of the living today. Sorry about your DDs friend @MrsEWeatherwax

I've just been over in the ronazone, and I'm staying the fuck out of there for a bit now. Why is it, just as restrictions are easing or people are starting to feel optimistic, it goes beyond batshit crazy over there? Few more fighting the good fight each time but generally its fucking bonkers.

Yes they do, DS girlfriend got one for him and my DS now has blonde streaks through his hair, his dad nearly passed out when he saw the result on a zoom call. Grin

Some folk are terrified, they were scared to leave their homes until the vaccine arrived, now they are terrified to have the vaccine because of blood clots, its a bloody mess.
Taswama · 10/04/2021 17:33

Some people have lost all ability to understand risk.

Lostinacloud · 10/04/2021 18:03

I just can’t help myself on that volcano thread. I admit to going slightly off topic and making it about the erosion of our freedoms and segregation based on vaccine status but I’m sick of it now. I refuse to be scared into blind acceptance of government control over my most basic of freedoms like seeing my own family and friends and getting a haircut fgs and the opinions on that thread are horrifying to me because of how many people have swallowed that particular pill.

amicissimma · 10/04/2021 18:04

From the previous thread "TodayI took my children to the beach, posted a birthday card to my niece,..."

Reminded me of the thing circulating last year about a girl who went to the post with a card for her grand dad, met a friend with Covid, got it on the envelope and killed him. Or somesuch. I think we have progressed a bit from that.

At least we know the cycles of behaviour now Grin

My main concern is the surge in hospital admissions from the pubs opening... not Covid... hypothermia! Wink

We went less than 15 miles today. It was fresh and dry at home... we ended up in a fricking snow storm Confused

To be fair to them, the government have spent a lot of time and effort over the last year trying to make sure they did.

(If this then comes back to bite the government re the vaccine programme, they only have themselves to blame.)

AcornAutumn · 10/04/2021 21:44

Bored
Don't know what to watch
Should choose something or I'll end up MNing all evening.

ISaySteadyOn · 10/04/2021 22:07

What genres do you like? Only just saw this

ISaySteadyOn · 10/04/2021 22:11

For comedy, Crazy Ex-girlfriend or Parks and Recreation are good.

Weird thriller: Any American Horror Story or The Haunting of Hill House

Utterly mindless action: Jurassic World

Sheer horror: The Babadook

Comic horror: What We Do In The Shadows

And that's what I can think of right now. hope that helps a bit. Anyone else?

TrustTheGeneGenie · 10/04/2021 22:24

Just checking in. Not been around much, need to catch up!

TrustTheGeneGenie · 10/04/2021 22:30

Also sad about Prince Phillip although I think 99 is a great age to reach. I feel sorry for the queen though, she must be lost without him.

Also feeling sad about Paul Ritter and Nikki Grahame. Both far too young.

What I'm also sad about is seeing people now attacking Meghan Markle for not attending the funeral. Why anyone thinks a heavily pregnant woman should fly long haul to attend a funeral is quite beyond me. I'm sure she is not especially happy about the situation. If I see one more comment like "yeah she's so evil just shows she doesn't care" I think I might explode. Be kind was such a shower of shite wasn't it? People are disgusting.

Thanks, I loved Haunting of Hill House, really excellent I thought.

I am still on MN but will opt for old comforting West Wing.

BogRollBOGOF · 10/04/2021 22:42

I didn't do #bekind. No hypocrisy here Grin

I try to stay out of Meghan related stuff. I can see why Harry wants more autonomy from a rigid life of royal duty but he/ Meghan have put their feet in it in the past year or so too. Oh well, they're only human. As any human, I hope he can find a happy path in life anf be at peace with his family.

In other news, I made the mistake of assuming that the weather was going to be pleasant within 15 miles of home and was under-prepared for snow and finally got my friend to hug me Grin

We're seeing more people tomorrow. Apparently they're related to us? Grin
