ADs, grab your thermals, long johns and winter woolies, we're finally off to drown our sorrows at the Sleeping Swan!

No me either to be honest! It's the hypocrites I can't stand.

I can see it from both sides but the judgement on her is abhorrent she is just a human like you say.

I mean agree / disagree with her not going that's fine, everyone has a right to an opinion but the name calling and the justification for it is just horrible.

MercyBooth · 11/04/2021 00:19

@Lostinacloud Im fine Thank You Flowers Smile There is a particular poster on there laughing at me even knowing the eating problems that have resurfaced, yet hes also on the Nikki Grahame thread with a completely different attitude. An uneducated person who thinks eating disorders only work one way.

RainbowCrayons · 11/04/2021 03:00

I posted 'over there' a couple of days ago about how the police overstepping making rules about 'essential and non-essential' food had triggered my eating disorder and it didn't seem like people understood (or cared maybe?). It was an interesting thread because it really showed me how few people bothered reading even the OP, just the title question and waded in with their own opinion. I feel terribly sad for Nikki, she wasn't much older than me on that series of big brother and I was really into it at the time but it did start to feel they specifically looked for people with mental health issues to make good TV.

RainbowCrayons · 11/04/2021 03:49

And thanks @MercyBooth for getting it on that thread, like you and 1 other person! I totally get the fuck you Boris sentiment (in either direction!) but mine goes the other way, 'Fuck you, Boris, you told us to lose weight with no suggestion of who should lose weight or when they should stop.' like a Sorcerers Apprentice of skinny.

I'm not a massive fan of Meghan, but she's not going to be able to win on attending the funeral - if she went presumably people would be saying, "bet she doesn't have to quarantine for 10 days," and so on.

And I'm pretty sure you're strongly advised not to fly once past a certain point in pregnancy (don't know when exactly).

ISaySteadyOn · 11/04/2021 09:54

Morning all. Flowers to those struggling.

I am just tired. The world does not feel very very nice now.

OTOH, DD1 is now asking for more Discworld specifically witches so there's that Smile

Taswama · 11/04/2021 10:08

Saw my parents yesterday for the first time this year. Gave them both a hug. Had a wet walk and a wet picnic.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 11/04/2021 14:30

Is the NHS app now mandatory? My hairdressers have just put a post up to say that if you don't scan the qr code on entry, you will be refused entry. How are we further down the line but with more restrictions? Honestly I don't get it?

ISaySteadyOn · 11/04/2021 14:38

I don't even know how to scan a qr code. Never done it in my life!

ISaySteadyOn · 11/04/2021 14:39

If venues are going to make it stressful to go to them, I won't go

That would be a problem at my hairdressers. Lots of the customers don’t have smart phones. My DH doesn’t have a personal one, he does have a work one but can’t download apps to it without permission.
RainbowCrayons · 11/04/2021 15:40

Legally I think you have to use the app or leave paper details for contact tracing.

RockaLock · 11/04/2021 16:08

Yes, that's my understanding too - you have to either use the NHS app, or write your details on a list.

Of course, whether hairdressers, pubs etc are aware of that, is another matter...

Hairdressers surely have a "paper list" anyway, given that everyone there will have a timed appointment that they will have a record of!

I also do not know and never have done it. (And I would say I'm reasonably technologically adept - back when we worked in an office I'd often get asked how to do various things on the computers, anyway!)

My 'not sure about the vaccine' stance has been cemented after both son and OH had extreme side effects for 48 hours. They are both alright now but why would i put myself through that when my chance of getting The Virus is so small?

On an optimistic note, I purchased a folding camper this weekend in the hopes that camp sites with facilities will be open over the summer 🤞! its light enough for me to put up alone if I fancy going away by myself (just need to get towbar put on my car!) but OH has promised to try it enthusiastically for two nights before deciding he absolutely hates it. His only experience of camping ws 35 years ago - Oban at Easter in a two man tent with nothing other than a duvet to sleep on. No wonder they ended up in a B&B!

flameprincess · 11/04/2021 16:36

Was looking forward to making some plans from next week even if it is al fresco dining in freezing weather. However a friend of mine called Miller & Carter to book a table for her birthday for the end of May to be told they are booked up completely until ..... February 2022. This is a chain restaurant not some swanky place wtf?! I was already moaning that we will have to book things well in advance and just pray it's not freezing on the day but I don't even know if that's possible as we didn't have the forethought to book our entire years worth of possible restaurant visits Hmm
Really hope this isn't going to be the case with all places Sad

BogRollBOGOF · 11/04/2021 17:54

I love camping. We generally do it pretty comfortably, particularly for proper holidays. Until DCs made it impractical, we did do wild camping. So many novices get the idea, turn up with a cheap, barely water resistant tent sleep on cold, hard, lumpy ground and wonder why it's uncomfortanle. It really does need a certain level of basics to be remotely pleasurable.
I do find it more chilled out than a hotel, especially now the DCs are old enough to roam a bit and not need hawk-like supervision.

On that note we've had a good day catching up with the other half of the BOGOFsUK. The cousins are a bit older and they went pleasantly feral at the NT. Typically it was the oldest who got muddiest. My younger two being more sensible Grin
It's been a good day, and the 3 catch-ups I've had in the last few days have all felt more natural than last summer/ autumn and no stressing over crap like distancing.

Re QR codes

I started a thread, you could ask on there how to scan it

AcornAutumn · 11/04/2021 18:10

Not suggesting ADs are idiots, just me 😂
I couldn't make head or tail of the explanations I found but I think I understood the answers.

Worldgonecrazy · 11/04/2021 18:54

Checking in. Had a good weekend avoiding the worst of the BDs.

Still a few hardy virtue signallers in their outdoor masks......in the sunshine.....by the sea...... metres from anyone.

I wonder of they took deposits? Can't say I blame them.
Taswama · 11/04/2021 19:28

I thought you just took a photo to scan a QR code? If you point the camera on your phone at the code, I doubt anyone would know whether you have checked in or not as the data goes to the app not the venue. (Just musing, certainly not suggesting anyone try to cheat)

WouldBeGood · 11/04/2021 19:35

You do just point your camera at it @Taswama

MercyBooth · 11/04/2021 19:36

@RainbowCrayons Thanks. Flowers

My hairdresser has my details but when i do the skin test tomorrow i will have to fill in the form again. Hairdressers have it on paper if you have colour because its a chemical treatment. The Government officials drawing up the guidelines are as thick as mince.

MercyBooth · 11/04/2021 19:40

I dont have the tech either. A lot of my hairdressers customers are over 65 as they have been trading for over 40 years. And they dont have smartphones. Tories are skating close to upsetting even more of their core voters.
