I’d prefer it to be accurate. I can’t stand history being rewritten. Someone dying doesn’t change who they were in life.

Hate to break it to you but the Crown is not completely accurate and it's not a documentary

Not unexpected but still sad news. I’m glad he was home but feel for the queen in that she’s lost a true life partner.

He was a man with many failings but shouldn’t detract from his better qualities or vice versa. He was human and by any standard had an amazing life.

(I’ve attached my favourite photo of him and the queen when he dressed up as to trick the queen. I love what it says about their relationship)

All the people saying this is a condolence thread, OP didn’t offer any condolences in their OP. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Obviously in their haste to be the ‘first to post’, they forgot that little detail. Ooops.

Very sad. A life dedicated to public service. As much as Boris is an arse his speech about him was nice, one of the few remaining veterans who served in WW2, was interested in conservation and the environment before it was fashionable.
May he rest in peace.

@NoWordForFluffy No sorry, I stand by my point. Just turned on the radio and it’s wall to wall coverage, even on the music and commercial channels. Lots of guff about ‘a whole nation in mourning.’ Will be the same on TV and in the newspapers. Plenty of us aren’t interested but there’s no escape from it, and apparently we’re not even allowed to express any dissent either.

I just wish as a nation we’d start focusing on the important things. But we won’t, and you’re right in that this isn’t the thread for me, so I’ll leave now and focus on the things that do interest me.

That is a sweet photo, I haven't seen it before - well done for persisting with trying to post it!

It is lovely seeing clips of HMQ and PP in younger days - seem to delight in one another's company and have fun together.

It will be a strange place for the Queen not having PP to speak to any longer. Very sad.

I feel sorry for Prince Harry actually — he'll have been woken up in the middle of the night with the news. Not that it makes it easier being daytime, but I know I'd rather be up and dressed and it be daylight than get the call in the middle of the night.

I think it seems a shock, even though he is very old, because for most people, they can't remember a time without him.

I’m aware of that. My reply makes no mention of it being a documentary, only that I would prefer it to be accurate and not rewrite history. Whether they’ve done that, who knows.

@excelledyourself I honestly don’t know, that photo crops up every now and then without explanation but as she’s got her handbag/formal dress/hat I would presume it was some semi-official occasion.

It is still sad when someone dies and I feel for the Queen today.
