He was only 54, I loved him in Friday Night Dinner.

No way! Shit on it!
So sad, rip. Will be watching fnd tonight in his memory.

DMCWelshcakes · 06/04/2021 18:30

@Oneeyeopen

Very sad. Such a talented man. Also loved him in Mapp and Lucia. Apparently a brilliant stage actor too.
I'd forgotten he was in Mapp and Lucia. He was brilliant in that too.
mamaduckbone · 06/04/2021 18:37

Really sad Sad- his legacy will live on in many, many catchphrases in the duckbone house...
Shit on it

@penguinpostcard

So sad to hear this news. Had only just finished listening to the radio adaptation of the book Meet Me At The Museum - it's still on BBC Sounds for a couple more weeks. He was perfect in it.
Was going to post just this. I loved that it was just him and Tamsin Grieg. I recognised her voice instantly, but I was so surprised when I realised that he was Anders. Such a versatile actor.
Eggsley · 06/04/2021 19:00

Shit on it indeed Sad

MintyCedric · 06/04/2021 19:00

Was lucky enought to see him on stage a couple of years ago in Art as well as being a huge fan of FND...absolutely fantastic actor. You could see him in any tole and forget all the others you'd seen him play.

We're watching FND tonight.

EscapeTheCastle · 06/04/2021 19:01

This is so sad. We have been watching this every night for a few weeks as some good family viewing now our kid is old enough for it.
We had been marvelling over his comedy skills and ability to play baddies in other shows.

Pebbledashery · 06/04/2021 19:18

My favourite episode without a shadow of a doubt is the frozen fox episode 🤣🤣🤣.
I always watch fnd after I've had a crap day. No matter how many times I watch it it makes me howl.

OhWhyNot · 06/04/2021 20:08

Mine too Pebbledashery

We watch it over and over again and I never fail to really laugh at the scenes when he is polishing the freezer and Adam and Jonny discover the frozen fox

We watched The Date this evening Martin looking at his hand as it has her name written on is just so awkward but so funny

I did have a little cry. Just so sad such a wonderful actor. Ds and I (like many parents with teenagers) have bonded over FND and always use phrases from it

blackbettybramblejam · 06/04/2021 20:25

My favourite is when Martin does the eulogy of the family member using medical records alone. I will light a candle and watch that tonight in his honour!

Pebbledashery · 06/04/2021 20:30

Going to watch it tonight in tribute I think :)

seriousandloyal · 06/04/2021 20:32

We were all so sad in our house to hear about this today, terrible.

RedcurrantPuff · 06/04/2021 20:33

It’s hilarious, I remember crying with laughter
IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 06/04/2021 20:41

So incredibly sad. He brought so much joy in his acting on FND, was fantastic in no offence

The final episode of FND with the broken glass made me howl, I mean absolutely lost my mind at it. He was amazing in it

AwFeebs · 06/04/2021 21:16

He made FND.

Such sad news. No age really. Sad

Brilliant actor. Always had me in stitches on FND.

BlueTiles · 06/04/2021 21:48

We have just watched in tribute too - the fox episode.

SnarkyBag · 06/04/2021 22:26

DS2 is gutted he loves FND and Martin is his (and mine) favourite 😞 we’re going to have Friday Night Dinner this Friday as a little tribute. Will even make a crimble crumble and the bambino’s have permission to act like bloody gits or shitting idiots!

I credit FND with being the only thing that I can use to get both my mardy teens to sit with me once in a while. We watched an episode today and admit I had a lump in my throat when he said “hello bambino’s” Sad

YesPleaseMary · 06/04/2021 22:49

Shit on it. May he rest in peace.

lollipoprainbow · 06/04/2021 22:53

The sofa bed, the carpet cleaner, the two Tony's and the Mercedes are our favourites. 🥲

SnarkyBag · 06/04/2021 22:58

The conversation spindle 🤣 best clip ever

NotATomato · 06/04/2021 23:04

We’ve watched the first 3 episodes tonight as a little tribute.

catherineofarrogance80 · 06/04/2021 23:22

Shit on the lamb!

Honestly this has made me so sad. We watch FND most weeks. Was watching the plastic bag episode just last night and Martin is the funniest character in any sitcom.
Hope he's having a great time in the disgusting caravan in the sky

EveWasReframed · 06/04/2021 23:34

Wonderful actor.

Brought huge emotion into his roles.

'Martin, put a shirt on.' Absolutely loved the characters in FND that wouldn't have worked without him. Blissfully eccentric and yet very believable - they key to great comedy.

ImpatiensI · 06/04/2021 23:38

Lovely to see all the tributes to him here and all over the media today - it will be comfort for his family to know how loved and respected he was. It's so gutting though, much too soon.

Bloodypunkrockers · 07/04/2021 00:22

So sad in this house.

We hinged watched today in his honour

Bugger off
